YESSSS!!! I WAS WAITING FOR THISSSSSSSSSS!!! George is one of my top drummers and I had pleasure of interviewing him years ago and also having him play on my album. I also got to see him perform from 5 feet in front of me and his technique is incredible and so is his speed and precision. And yes I remember him talking about his high spring tension.

Hey Marthyn! Love your videos man! Just wanted to clarify something. Kollias came to Bangalore, India, last year and performed at a clinic in which he addressed his technique and playing style. From what I remember, he mentioned that the swivel 'technique' was not so much a technique as it was something his legs happened to do when he played at those speeds, and was given way too much hype. He did say that it helps if the spring tension is high because it helps with the rebound, which you can use to your advantage. He seemed to want to distance himself from the whole 'Swivel Technique'. At least that's how it came across.
Anyway. Really dig your videos dude. Really hope you can check out and review drummers like Alex Rudinger, Anup Sastry, Chris Adler, Flo Mounier, and John Longstreth.
    Cheers from India!

@@jurgentrockenbau9321 it depends, Krimh has been using it for so long and he never had any problems, even with such a big motion. But in his case it's controlled.
I guess it depends, Krimh doesn't play stuff that is as physically demanding as Nile, but iirc he does a lot of sport and stuff besides drumming. Some people have issues with it, some don't.
I personally can't do it with my main foot as I tense up almost right away up to my knee. Other foot is perfectly fine tho

Great analysis, thtat was awsome I wish you could watch something from Mike Smith (I think there's a drum cam of him playing "Pierced From Within") or anything by Gene Hoglan, thtat would be great.

Maybe Derek Roddy some time in the future? There are some nice videos of him recording for Hate Eternal in the studio, like "Behold Judas".

We definitely need an episode on Alan Cassidy, his pro shot of Threat Level or Receipt would be perfect!

Would love to see a Raymond Herrera analysis. He was the reason I started drumming 20 years ago. I still can't do double bass for shit though.

Maybe do one of Hannes Grossmann? His blasting style is very unique.

Hello thank you for the interesting analysis! I would like to recommend you to react to anything from the drummer for Northlane Nic Pettersen. Song exampled that are found live and studio live are at least Leech, Dispossession, Quantum Flux, Scarab. He has a lot of interesting stuff for all drummers. Another is a more hectic fellow, Billy Rymer from the now defunct Dillinger Escape Plan. From them anything pretty much. Prancer is the song I want to give a shout out to. He has had a drum QA himself at Berklee. Anyway, have a great day!
