I hope this observation on how Inferno plays helps you figure out for yourself which of his skills at the drum kit would be interesting for you to practice. I agree with the people here that you should not call this a 'react ' . Because anyone makes a reactionvideo these days. Your video's are more a analysis of drummers. Its so much more entertaining to watch. And good info as well. So we basically learn something from this. Maybe call it 'Reactianalize.'
I absolutely loved this analysis... i am a guitarists, not a drummer, but i love this kind of drumming and it blows my mind. thank you for the amazing breakdown.
When I saw them live in 2010, he actually came out before he got into corpse paint and the black leather clothes the band usually does and personally tuned up the drum set and did a quick warm up set. The man is one of the best drummers I've ever seen live, and I've seen Hellhammer with Dimmu, Frost with Satyricon and Dave Lambardo with Slayer.
Maybe it will be interesting for you to check out the drumcams of Dominator (Dark Funeral former drummer). There are also many little details which differ him from the other blasters
What an excellent analysis of the stick technique etc. So many drum videos just talk about "this is a blast, this is the fill he did here" that sort of thing. You've really gone into a breakdown of how and why his body mechanics are a certain way and what that produces in terms of playability
@@bdog2501 yeah but drumming isn't all about going fast, my dude. Buddy Rich didn't played at 300bm either, and he was one of the bests. I say Gene is the bests because of his awesome grooves and overall originality that he brings around the instrument, within a musical context of usually agressive music
Alex rudinger (esoteric agenda)/Sebastián Lancer (obscura)/hannes grossman (blotted science song🙏🏼), lyle cooper (live drumming with the faceless), romain goulon (necrophagist songs recording), aquiles priester (spread you’re fire, angra song), george kollias (the esencial salt live), god damn, too much great drummers man i can do this all day ahahaah
Great video! Very interesting to watch. I think it would be great to react to one of David Diepold's videos, since his technique is so flawless. It would also be a great add-on from the podcast!
Perhaps you could do a comparison of drum pedals.. from Tama, pearl, axis to trick and Czarcie Kopyto? 🤪 Also would love for you to analyse the drumming of Nils Fjellström aka “Dominator”.. from his Aeon or Dark Funeral performances. Great Channel and content! Thanks!
Great Performance from Inferno one of my favorites drummers!!! And very well analyzed i would like to see something about Nicholas Barker!!! And his blast beat technique playing with Dimmu Borgir back in the Days!!
Tony Laureano on Nile's "In Their Darkened Shrines" is brutal. George Kolias replaced him in the band if I'm not mistaken but he wasn't quite as high octane.
I was a drummer for years, I have been in hiatus for about 8 years and I feel like I've learned so much just from watching two of these videos---despite not even having a drum set at the moment! I agree that you should call these "breakdowns" or "analyses" since they are much more than a reaction video! Thanks for the great content.
Could you do a reaction about Nile's George Kollias playing? He has a feet technique that amaze me each time i watch him play. I really like the fact you decompose and explain Inferno's way of playing, that's really interesting and having the point of view of a teacher is a good way to progress !
Wow I learned so much about drums watching this and was reminded why I'm not a drummer. I tried it in fourth grade...Mmm...1976...and quickly gravitated to guitar. I think that says it all. Anyway, great video. Thanks.
Pls! React to this guy, Baard Kolstad, the drumer from leprous. He is a beast! In the intro of the song, He plays in 4 different rhythms at the same time Baard Kolstad - Illuminate - Leprous drum playthrough
I highly recommend doing an analysis of Dan Presland of Ne Obliviscaris. He has several playthrough videos. A couple good songs to choose would be either Devour Me, Colossus or Painters of the Tempest.
A classy analysis, helps me to appreciate how tricky it is to play the drums at that level. It's surprising how some people think they own the artist and keep criticising or saying what one should or shouldn't do. It takes years of practice, humility and passion to play like that. Muscle memory and myelin. It's not muscles that play, it's brains.
It would be really cool, but the problem is that Aaron is playing over the cd track, you can't really analyse him cause you can't hear what he is actually playing, you could not really know how tight he is or how the kit sounds.
Yeah man, everything has just been "played" by a VST. I don't understand how there is people that think that Aaron has recorded those drums using triggers, or recorded using an electronic kit, i mean, are you serious? Ahahah Some of those drum parts are just NOT PLAYABLE, a drummer should know that. One cool thing about Aaron is that writes really cool parts, for Infant Annilathor, Rings Of Saturn and even Black Tongue, he really knows how to valorize music with drums.
I’d love to hear his views on the playing of an “impossible song” and the different techniques that would need to be used to play it. The video on RUclips is a play through with no mics and just the backing track. Entertaining none the less.
I usually don’t like these kinds of react videos, but having some things explained by someonr who knows what they’re talking about makes it way more interesting! Someone already mentioned them, but Matt Gartska and David Diepool are two drummers I’d like to see in upcoming videos.
Awesome analysis. Very easy to follow and you make very interesting points. Are there any channels that cover different drum techniques for rock drummers?
Hey Marthyn, can you please make a Video about Patrik Fält of Feastem? I know he is not that famous but he does have one of the best blast beats I know! I really recommend him.
I've never heard the term 'French grip' before, I've only heard it called 'bad technique'. I always knew that was B.S. Idea for future video, if you haven't covered him already: Mike Smith from Suffocation.
Scanned the comments looking for this!! I was friends with Paul Ryan for a few years and he said at rehearsals Longstreth would just zone out and chew bubble gum without missing a note. He can play those songs on auto-pilot!
In my opinion the two best drummers in metal I’ve ever heard are probably : Mike Fitzgerald- Guttural Secrete Or Adam Jarvis- Misery Index Would like to see your reaction to one of them.
Please analyse: King Diamond - welcome home - Matt Thompson. Love that live clip. Note that Matt Thompson did'nt create the original music, but Mickey Dee. However he makes it his own, and his passion for his craft shines in the clip.

Do a reaction from a live video of the song At The left Hand Of God, that's incredible!

It's just like Sam Johnson, the voice teacher. Same shit.
It gets him more views to call it that, so I don't blame him!
Inferno is incredible live.
But Not On Real After Life Brrr
I absolutely loved this analysis... i am a guitarists, not a drummer, but i love this kind of drumming and it blows my mind. thank you for the amazing breakdown.
Have you considered reacting to/analyzing Meshuggah's Tomas Haake when he plays Bleed?
That'd be a good one
prob more just foot technique analasys rather than hands although i understand mr. haake's use of polyrythms are an all limb effort. fuck spelling.
Why. It’s the same pattern more or less for 7 minutes
good point lol.
It's not the same pattern though, it changes constantly which is one of the reasons why it's so difficult to play.
Inferno is one of my top 5 all time favorite drummers.
This is more than a reaction video, man. This is actually informative and useful! Keep it up :)
thank you...that was my goal- so I'm really happy about your comment, thx alot!

Nice! But have you seen Dave Lombardo?🤔
My video recommendation: George Kollias - aeons of burning galaxies (or anything from Nile )
Thank you...finally someone with a good idea...I have the George Kolias alblum Invictus, and it is so good...
Can you please do an other like this with Nils Fjällström of Dark Funeral
or Fredrik Widigs of Marduk
Yes, Dominator please!!!
Mario from Gojira, seen a lot of metal bands in my life, this is one of the best live bands I have seen. Awesome drumming
You should do Dan Presland from Ne Obliviscaris he is a very good drummer!
IanTheBeard I’m seeing them with wintersun this Saturday!
This so much
This, and he has great high quality drum vids available too
