Not only was Levi Stubbs the greatest lead singer ever, he was the best, & when you havevthe best, you can't get any better than that..... He truly was a world class act, He truly was a world class gentleman, He had the voice of an Angel.... RIP sweet Levi, a true fan.... love you Dee❤❤❤❤❤
Many blessings to the amazing group The Four Tops who gave so much musical joy to the world. The men as a group never broke up and now each one has departed from this earth. Living lastingly through their music. 💗💗💗💗
If there was one voice that best exemplified the Motown sound it would have be Levi Stubbs's voice. Incomparable! You'll never hear a better version of this song.... or, for that matter, any song that Levi sung on.
You've took the words straight out of my mouth, well said. For me Levi and the tops were out of this world there music was absolutely awesome, everytime I hear hims sing I feel it in my soul for sure. There will never be a group as good as this ever well not in my lifetime. Been listening to the four tops since I was 7yrs old ish,now 62 and it's like hearing it for the very first time. God bless them.
@@tinadavies4195 I agree with you he had the voice of an Angel, no one & I do mean no one can ever fill his shoes, it broke my heart when I heard of his passing over the radio & on the TV, I miss them so much although Abdul ( Duke ) Fakir is still here, God bless, but you can hear it in his voice when he tells stories of them together his voice cracking with emotion,, he misses them terribly. RIP sweet Levi, Obie Benson, & Lawrence Payton, a true fan always.....👍❤Dee
@@tinadavies4195 Thank you so very much, it means alot to me, those days of way back when should've never gone away, the songs of the 4 tops were the best im 69 & I was listening to them from when my older Sisters had their records & they would dance to them, my Two oldest Sisters at the time were 17 & 15 Met them in person when they came to the park to perform, not far from where we lived, and I remember my Sisters saying, you couldn't have met the 4 most gracious men ever, they still have have their autographs, you have a great day, be well, 👍👍🙋♀️ Dee

I just found this record in my collection after it had been sitting in my attic. It is an all time favourite of mine. Can’t stop watching them. These guys are so cool. Timeless classic. Then I discover my 45 of this is worth a small fortune as a Demo copy . Thanks I’m loving this video sweater than ever.
Levi was one in a Million, to me one of the best voices ever. There have been some great Options for him, he could have easely been one of the biggest Solo Stars cos he had everything, but he never left the boys cos of his pure Loyalty. Beside his unbelievable Talent, his Character was pure Gold too.
The unbelievable voice of the late and great lead singer of The Four Tops Levi Stubbs mercy RIP. Play them on my internet radio show Classic Soul me The Masterblaster.
These Guys are such wonderful Role Models. They stayed Together for Almost 50 Plus Years and although they had their share of bad times, as well as good they kept their sanity in an "Insane" industry. Abdul "Duke" Fakir did a Documentary called "I'm In A Boy Band" in The UK.
The 4 Tops were one of the best groups. I absolutely love this song but it wasn't sung live. It was a record and they were basically lip singing. There was no band there or mike's. I'm not putting them down just stating facts. This was a show from the 60s that Dick Clark had and that's what he always did on his programs sorry to say.
Roostertail what memories I worked with Tom and Jerry owners of this establishment I've seen many items of the tops and Temps just sitting in his office
This was from a Dick Clark Show called Where The Action Is. Them, and Marvin Gaye did performances at The Roostertail in the 1960's. The both of them also hold the distinction of doing virtually every single Music Show in the 1960's. Also in their own way The Four Tops & Temptations grew up on American Bandstand since they appeared on the show in the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's.
I was 12 when this came out, forgot all about it. Beautiful song. Loved Levi. I always loved Tamla Motown it was The Temptations and The Four Tops but the Tops just pipped the Temptations to the post.
Another piece of superlative Motown sound remembered 40 years ago this is the real deal take care soul brother's & sister's thanks for the top upload 💜💜💜
Wildcat from DEEJAYENPS check out the live concert version done by Nick Kamen as well! He recognised this a potential showstopper, in that slightly longer version! THEN listen to the applause at the end!

Thank you.
Love this song since back in the day. BTW the date is wrong, has to be 1966 not 1965 as it was not even recorded until April of 1966.
You're correct! The date shows August 10, 1966.
WOW - how have i never heard this song before ?!?!?! SO good. Thanks for sharing.
So cool! Thanks!

OUTSIDE THE Roostertail in Detroit AUGUST 10, 1966

I've never seen either I love it.
I was at the Roostertail in '06. We had a going away party for a friend who was leaving for prison. I think it has since closed. Too bad.
first time I've heard the original version, paradoxically I came to know the song thanks to Nick Kamen
I never knew that there was a video of them singing this song !!! One of their lesser known hits...I think that Stevie co-wrote this for them !!

Lol what's with the rando speedboat shot...anyways:
I remember yet before we met
When every night & day I had to live the life of a lonely one
I remember meeting you
Discovering love could be so true
Shared by two instead of only one
When you said you loved me (when you said you loved me)
& We could not be parted (we could not be parted)
I said I built my world around you (built my world around you)
I'm so thankful that I found you (so thankful that I found you)
'Cause lovin' you has made my life sweeter than ever
I've never felt like this before
Lovin' you has made my life so much sweeter than ever
Each night I pray we'll never part
For the love within my heart grows stronger
From day to day
As best I can, I'll always try
To reassure & satisfy
'Cause I'd be lost if you went away
'Cause I really need you (really really need you)
& I need for you to need me too (need for you to need me too)
I have built my world around you (built my world around you)
I'm so thankful that I found you
'Cause lovin' you has made my life sweeter than ever, yes it has
Lovin' you has made my life so much sweeter than ever
'Cause I really love you (really really love you)
Girl, I'm thankful that you love me too (thankful that you love me too)
I have built my world around you (built my world around you)
& I'm truly glad I found you
'Cause lovin' you has made my life sweeter than ever
Oh it has, yes it has
Lovin' you, since I've been lovin' you, my life's sweeter than ever
Since I'm lovin' you, life is sweeter than ever

Did the bus bringing the black kids break down?
The whole group had could sing Motown kind of held them back cause when they went to dunhill The rest of the sung more & wrote & produce
