  • Here's a slow air called 'Beauty Deas an Oileáin' and I played this air outside the author's house on the Great Blasket Island. The words of the song were written by Seán Ó Duinnshléibhe's in the 1880/90s. #beauty #slowair #greatblasketisland #windyday
    Recorded by Clodagh Slattery

This video is so amazingly Irish: the gorgeous scenery, the mournful and incredibly beautiful tune, the paper white legs! Haha! Seriously though - fantastic video and I am a big fan of your playing, Cormac (and your Father's). Will be buying more of your albums.

This music really captures the isolation of the island. Can you imagine living on the Western-most point of Europe, the wind whipping around you constantly, darkness enveloping you for 6 months, only 100 other islanders to share your life with? Our ancestors lived MUCH different lives than we.

Cormac Begley has brought the concertina out of the storage room to where it rightfully belongs...a beautiful melodic instrument worthy of adoration and respect. Cormac is the real deal and has mastered the very soul of that delightful soulful sound that is CONCERTINA!

Cormac, I love the way that you have captured the exquisite beauty of the Great Blanket
Island in your glorious music, it’s a wonderful treat to get to see this from home in Alberta Canada!

This is so poetic - the tune (one of my fav's! ZEN-like...) by the derelict cottage of the writer, and one of those magical summery Irish days that make you forget all the crap weather... Even the shirt matches the blue waters 😂 Beautiful!
