Thanks for making this video. Gives some insight into the creative & technical genius behind Monolake, which everybody should listen to. How refreshing to see a man who understands the minutiae at an academic level but who at the same time excels creatively.
big fan of monolake, so i was super excited when i saw this video. excellent tutorial and this dudes level of knowledge explains why Monolake makes such bangers :)
What does he mean when he talks about the snare and that osc b with white noise is modulating osc a? Im confused how osc b is modulating the sound? isnt osc a just a sine wave?
hm, Robert says the 2nd OSC modulates the first etc. but all I hear is layered 1st OSC & 2nd OSC with their respective volume envelopes, like operator just mixes 4 OSCs...
I wish I would've thought of this before I got μTonic. Hell, I wish I would've spent more time trying to understand Operator in general; it's so much more capable than I realized, and I feel like I'm still only scratching the surface half the time...
I'm sorry, but the hat is not 808-ish. Change my mind. Just check the original 808 hihat. Still a nice tutorial though. Edit: the clap is also not 808-ish.
bass drum 0:32
snare 6:16
hi-hat 12:32
clap 13:47
Great vid, thanks!
that clap technique! very clever, hadn't thought to use operator that way
Hands down best fundamental 808 tut on RUclips! Thanks! 🙏🏾💯
Hab ich direkt nachgebaut. Mega, mega, mega.
1000 Dank!
this is probably the best bit of ableton knowledge on youtube, straight from the source of Henke/Monolake... doesn't get much better than this
Operator is just one of the coolest little things in ableton.
You can make an entire song with many, but respectively only instances of Operator

What a privilege it is to get to follow his process like this! Great stuff!

This is amazing, I died when he moved the sine wave phase
its not a sinewave anymore, its a cosine wave :0
That was really fun to watch. Thank you!
These are all really cool and sick but how do you do more advanced stuff?
i dont know how i put in words.. u are the Stark Banner Wayne Kent... all of’em...
Invaluable knowledge from a great producer, thank you
nice do more of these
This video is from Session 7 on our free Kadenze course :) www.kadenze.com/courses/sound-production-in-ableton-live-for-musicians-and-artists/info
You guys need to start doing bitwig tutorials. Seems right up your alley.
He's the man! :)
Sehr geil!
Vielen Dank!
Thank you Robert Henke, very interesting and enjoyable!
This is gold
is it possible to make a ride cymbal with Operator?
So concise!! Awesome
Absolutely amazing masterclass. THANKSSSSSSS

excellent tutorial, I particularly liked the clap trick, very clever.
Great demo!
Interesting. Thanks!
Our pleasure!
just what I needed .. tnx
20 years using Ableton... Thats what trigger on Operator is for!
If Monolake speaks, we listen.
Amén
what a killer video thank you!
Nice tricks Robert! :)
Are those Yamaha MSP3's behind him?

For anyone who wants to know the meaning of Chinese tattoo on the right hand, it means "Slave" in English.
Obviously, this refers to slave to the rhythm.
simple! :) ableton is the best!
Thanks

Look up FM synthesis; basically different sound waves modulating each other (?)
Awesome
Terrific
hm, Robert says the 2nd OSC modulates the first etc. but all I hear is layered 1st OSC & 2nd OSC with their respective volume envelopes, like operator just mixes 4 OSCs...
That's because he changes the mode so that only one modulates the next, instead of a chain like the default setting
Thanks!
very nice
thank you.......

It's never too late! Continuous learning is part of the process :)
7:35. The Decay time of Lucifers Kick
el bacancito
He's like the German version of Steve jobs when it comes to DAWS.
the way he makes clap takes much time. he could just use a lfo to control the attack
Not a good idea to have so many operators open in the one drumrack. Asking for CPU problems. Make chains.
How many times did you rehearse and re-take this?
yzimsx the guy in the video? He’s one of the co creators of Ableton Live, so I doubt it was more than one
Around 34 times, give or take 7.
