    Worms are the best bait ? Not sure about that ,but, worms are my favorite bait , that’s why I raised them , have 3 kinds red wigglers ,Europeans ,and my favorite lumbricus rubellos , caught on old farm land around toronto , just around 10% of the wilds ones survived in the bin , but the ones that adapt to it produce the beautiful worms I have now , they grow to be monsters ,they look they’re about to explode cause they’re so fat , almost half inch thick and 8 inch long ,they love the cold but suport the heat, trout are crazy for them

    I started my worms in flippen June, in Ca! We get 110°+ days here. I started freezing plastic water bottles for the bins. Id have to change them out 2x a day. Now that its winter it gets into the low 30s... so i have germination heat pads under the bins. Im learning as i go. Im just happy that theres a huge worm farming community here on RUclips and so far everyone is so helpful and nice. Its pretty awesome.

      Yes, I know the struggles of starting a worm bin in extreme temperatures, but we like to add a little extra moisture in the wintertime to boost microbial heat, but you will end up having more trouble when you go to sift your worms for the castings just because they're extra wet and it's water molecules stick together with the dirt and it makes it harder to get the castings, but it does keep them warmer. Thanks for the positive feedback!😀❤️

    Really like the videos this is my #4 since 2 in the morning. I had worms before but at the time there was not much info online. I can do better this time, still have the bins, I'll be doing it inside since here it can get to -30 degrees in winter. Thanks.

      You're welcome, and thank you for watching. I would definitely recommend putting them inside if it is going down to negative 30. Your Vegetable plants will love you for raising worms. Never give up on the worms they are too important. I hope you have a great day.

    These are all really good points! Our garden now runs on our own worm castings, compost and leaf mold. Looking forward to your garden tour this spring.

    Would really like a video on your worm bin. I started out will a plastic tote, my worms quickly out grew that system.

      Yes, I will do a video on how I keep my worms and what kind of bin I use. I just haven't had the time to make the video yet. I've received a lot of requests for it. Thanks for watching!

    How do you feed your worms?

    • @HarleysWorms
      @HarleysWorms  9 месяцев назад +1

      We take grains and mill them down to a fine powder, and then it gets spread out on the worms. I have videos, go into detail on how we do it, if you are interested in seeing it. Thank you for watching.

      Thanks for watching! I can't believe I have viewers in New Zealand, that's too cool. Also, we are raising Red Wigglers, 100% pure with no other worm species in them. We are raising European Nightcrawlers as well.

      1-15 pounds of food a day, and it varies wildly depending on conditions outside, type of bedding, type of worm, etc. Thanks for watching.
