- Eric Vono may not have a lot of money, but he's got an awesome pre-runner race truck loaded up with King Shocks, BF Goodrich tires and an Edlebrock motor. Bakersfield has a lot of trucks driving around. This one is a standout. He is set to race this all over California and Baja. He shows us around his ride.

Thanks for the motivation! I have a dream to own the sickest long travel E-series van ever before I die. I really need to get hooked up with the right people like this guy!
I like it man, very much.
Low budget it's very important.
Good joob.
Sick !
Wish more people would do classic prerunner builds ( or whatever u want to call it ).
Well done Sir.
Honestly everything I see is on the west coast I'm from Chicago an there's nothing here but I'm on the start ...
J arm front end, linked rear end. The list goes on and on with that truck. There’s nothing low budget on or about that truck. What do you mean low budget? Guarantee you he has close to $80,000-$100,000 into that truck
Built up Brenthal brand truck costs 300k-800k so this is 1/3 of the cost on the low end and easily half the cost
@franklinhurt6972 used parts and friends.. also when you pit or mechanic on another truck, wealthy racers donate
Is that budget build ? That's master piece
So what was the budget over all on this thing ? When all was said and done ???
I'd say 20k-30k or half the price of a prebuilt one
I thought he was goinna do a jump at the end
I live in Bakersfield and I'm working on a baja truck myself, im hopefully I'm going to finish it soon
What is a low budget truck
@@nillkellog7832 it doesn't exist.
Good job
That engine sounds lovely.
Dude I used to live right behind that dirt field by the park. Fuck yea
Where did you get the Project TA tires from? Weren't they only supplied to BFG sponsored offroad race teams?
Such a sweet truck. Is it possible to ask the owner a few questions?
ask anything
@ericvono723 we were going to by a side x side but I'd rather find an old race truck. Where would you recommend for under 20k.. or a rail/car 2 seater would be nice
DIY, low budget, for me that's the juice !
great truck !
I’ve followed Eric on Instagram for the longest time
What’s his Instagram
Some of those welds😮 deff budget build
Rad truck what the pinion change
King of the hammers I'll be there
Ima welder, and I want to turn my 97 ranger into a fully built pre runner. I have most of the skills required to fabricate my own shit, but I don't know a lot about mechanics. Money is an obstacle, but this is a long term project. My question is, can I learn along the way, or should I take mechanics classes before I start this project? I know a good bit about working on my truck as is, but I don't have any experience with something like an engine/transmission swap.
Gamma read all over the internet. Forums and call companies who make parts. Most things for a ranger have been done before so engine swaps and transmissions and gear questions can be answered probably with a little bit of research.
Welding in itself takes precision and discipline and difficult I'm absolutely sure you can apply the same with learning how to swap and build engines trust when I say every one that learned how to repair vehicle has broken a ton of crap but you already have what you need to start dont be afraid to break things good luck with your build
Gamma look into Giant MotorSports, they have a good selection of DIY fabrication parts at really good prices. Also I don't know where you're at but depending on DEQ, and such you might want to just keep the mill you already have (don't know if you have the 2.3 or 4.0). A lot of people run v6s and do just fine with re-gearing the rear end.
Bro just jump right in be patient and keep the project moving forward. Keep it cheap and learn as you go
did i miss the price
Bakersfield yeahhhh boy
Great, i like it
What year is the truck?
What engines do they use one trophy trucks the all sound the same
Alot of guys run Ls motors but some are stock and some are crazy built motors.
Can there tires be used as daily normal use
I believe those are not dot approved
Those are BFG Project TAs from the mid 1990's and are not DOT approved.
4x4 or 2wd? what is the suspension setup? Could have gone over a ittle bit more about the rig. Sweet ride though.
Majority are 2wd because of the weight but there is some 4wd ones. Check out Terra Crew on RUclips it's a pre runner channel.
Alrighty than, Show Me What You Got..
§* was just lookin for exhaust mans and post man in utoob, but i'll take it
i can use some help with my 87 jeep comanche pre runner it’s my first build so if everyone has some suggestions let me know i’ll post on my page where i’m at
Why dont they use Fox shocks on trophy trucks I only see the using the kings shocks not like you aren't using them but I just see alot of kings shocks on the trophy trucks
Brayton best money can buy but fox are still used
If anyone has questions or any feel free to message me through Instagram @ericvono or Facebook . Thank you so much for the love if means alot . Ive been dealing with some motor issues but will be back out making videos soon!
I got a stock quad cab dakota , where should I start modifying it?
Definitely suspension
@@victorbarcelo8616 alright I'll look more into where I can get started there. I want to keep my 4×4 which seems to toss a small monkey wrench into everything. I see most people use rear wheel drive and defenently no dakotas 🤣
@@7Supernova7 I have a 4x4 Nissan hardbody on 30s. The best thing I ever did to it was get good shocks. I got two kyb monomax for the front and kept it stock shocks in the rear. Rides super nice.
Honestly get a different truck unless your going custom. Next to no aftermarket support for those Dakotas.
@@lk6912 thats what ive heard
How do we get ahold of this guy? Like insta or the book of faces? I'd really like to talk to him.
he's on Facebook
Only 80,000 it is a steal.
I sent him a message, I'm sure he'll be coming on here.
Hit me up too sir! That truck is Bad Ass congrats for putting it together.
That's not low budget just the shocks are are a easy 7k
They said budget not low budget. It's an expensive hobby but this is really just scratching the surface when it comes to pre runners. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful truck but definitely not top tier when it comes to pre runner and trophy trucks
@@pillaryclinton6187 yeah ik that but like not the most buget one I've seen
Still 150k truck. Still sick tho.
Lol bako boy here in SD
Anyone know this man’s Instagram? Would love to follow this badass truck
That’s far from budget hahaha it’s too great
Need to know your trucks before interviewing dude.
Guy has a bad ass rig and you let a flop
Nothing low budget about this build
I would paint like the Fall Guy Stunt Truck
Budget ....meh. ever priced out a 3" 16-18" stroke bypass shock let alone a king or king coilovers? Or real beadlocks wraped in baja T/A's. Let alone 200ft of DOM tube and a bender.
Low low budget you vould do an ibeam front on coils and deavers in the back and still be into it 4k buying used shit.
This thing probably has 8-10k+ just in shocks. Lower links and arms are bling bling af too. Easily 25k+ in this thing even with used parts
Define budget, lol
Budget??? Thats at least 50 thousand dlls 😂😂😂
This is not a budget hobby
What’s his budget, a hundred k lol 🤦🏻♂️
