I didn't think the ending for that one would need to be explained, it's a sledgehammer of tragedy and despair right to the face...
yeah, nothing to explain, they just all hit rock bottom and thats it
You took the words right out of my mouth...We Get it!!! It's not hard to grasp
I like to think that they would all find there way again but that's not always the way some people don't hit Rock bottom until there Dead 😵😢
It's just a stupid idea to make a video, lol! Anybody who has been through addiction or just had an overwhelming obsession knows ALL TO WELL, what's happening at the end, plus they want you to use their link..

That's not even the point of the film at all, people thinking the movie is simply about drugs when in reality it's not, but people watching it without understanding the real meaning like a simple mind 8 year old. And it make me mad.
This was my bf's fav movie. I never got to see it with him. I prolly won't ever be able to now knowing the subject matter is just too close to home. I miss him every day. R.I.P. 💔
It's Free on Tubi now go ahead and watch everyone should experience this movie at least once in there life
I'm sorry for your loss, your boyfriend was a gutsy man who could appreciate the beauty of this masterpiece. I just saw it and it tore my soul apart.
I am so sorry for your loss . May he rest in peace. 🙏😓🙏
One of the reasons Requiem for a Dream is so hard to watch is because all of the things that happen to the characters are things that can and do happen to real people all over the world. All of the horror and sadness of this film is real.
This movie is so disturbing. I had a roommate in college who was obsessed with Jared Leto so we watched it and NEVER AGAIN 😖
oh, I was not aware he was in it, but then again, I watched it not by choice in english class (second language) and before I knew that guy existed . . . . it was traumatising and my class made fun of it
The most disturbing thing about hearing this is that now I know that there are people out there who are obsessed with Jared Leto tbh
@@CaH6633😂😂😂
I've heard people say that before that it's a one time watch and never want to watch it again for me I watch it every couple of years and I always cry at the end 😢
I love him too, and this movie is a masterpiece. I could watch it over and over.
Am I ready to (re)watch Requiem? F*CK NO, that ending destroyed my soul!
Yep!
Same
This film, is on my list of "Great films i will NEVER watch again"
Yes!
What else is on the list… curious 😅
@@irvingfr33American History X
I’m an EMT and i believe everyone needs to watch this film at least once in their life. it’s an eye opening movie that shows the affects of what a single high or pill can do to someone’s life. How one shoot up or pop of pills can lead to a world of suffering and misery just to escape reality. truly sad and i hope those struggling with addiction can find peace and healing 🤟🏻
❤
Agreed and well said!
Everyone needs to watch this movie at least once, and only one time..
I don't have the guts to watch it again
You are a sweetheart. ❤
Lived this life before. So thankful I got sober and no more pain and despair.
My little brother is living this life. He hasn’t gotten clean and I’m considering showing him this movie in the hopes that it might help him beat his addiction.
How'd you get sober?? And congrats!! Getting clean is 1 of the most difficult things someone can go thru.
I hope i can get clean too one day..
7 months clean from 11 years of coke. We got this!
@@jessicahoward9046 Congratulations, buddy!
one of the most scary movie i have ever watched .... reality truly is the most horrific thing.
This movie is top on my list why I don't do drugs 😅 watched it really young and the message sure helped
Maybe I should show it to my brother. It might help him finally get clean.
Same things happened to me
The sole reason why I refrain from drugs
in active addiction and this helped me see my addiction and myself more clearly
Hope you’re doing better
What have U done to change n STOP the selfish mAdness?¿?
This film doesn’t just breaks your heart, it crushes it into fine powder and blows it in your eyes
And then it stabs your eyes out with rusty needles, chops your arm off, shoves a hot poker up your butt, and zaps you until your brain is completely fried.
I hate drugs because of this movie and that was the main message.
Not all drugs are bad. Just the addictive ones like Heroin and Meth.
@@HighParativityToolsthere is so much ignorance in this. I don’t even know where to begin lmfao
@@HighParativityTools I believe it's a bit more complicated than that. Sure there are some that are less harmful than others but they all can come with their own harms it just depends on a few factors. I just stick to cannabis in moderation personally
I feel I can’t be the only one who has seen this movie multiple times. It’s an amazing movie that is tragic for everyone involved.
You’re definitely not the only one that has seen it several times. I rewatch it every once in a great while- but before I do I need to mentally prepare for the inevitable mental consequences it’ll stir up inside me.
I watched this when I was 19 and in college and it freaking devastated me. I cried so hard after watching this and it took a while for me to get it out of my head.
This movie is a masterpiece! It is a hard watch but a masterpiece, nonetheless.
You are not ready for requiem. I promise.
I believe you.
This is the most devastating movie I’ve ever watched. It’s well made, and an absolute masterpiece. But I wouldn’t watch it again since I lost some people to drugs too.
Why do people say "controversial"? It literally is what happens in real life
This might be an unpopular opinion but to me requiem for a dream is so unsubtle that it almost resebles a government ad against drug use
there was one interesting scene they sadly cut, where the kids all suffer from withdrawl and try to convince themselfs they could stop at any time but yeah . . . there is nothing subtil about this movie
Definitely!! It would traumatize a lot of teens (maybe not so much these days with how desensitized they are), but if it prevented some of them from going down that path then maybe it's worth it?
@@Qu33nMary444it helped me! Watched it pretty young and now I'll never do hard drugs
I don't know if there's much subtle about the real rock bottom parts of hard drug addition
I just watched it over the weekend and that's what I got too. Not really an exploration and examination of addiction but just a D.A.R.E movie. lol
One of my favourite movies of all time. So well made and executed. Some people can’t believe I can love such a devastating film but that’s why I love it, the amazing work of how utterly tragic and devastating you feel from it makes it a masterpiece.
One of the best and scariest films I have seen I can watch horror all the time but this film was on a different level.
I've seen it and it was very sad, depressing and dark movie.
“I’m never watching this again” yeah Requiem for a dream is not a movie you watch more then once. I’m having a hard time getting through the reaction 😂
I've watched it about a million times, it is so captivating. The editing and the music are what makes it so powerful.
Saw yesterday and never again, this movie is horrifying
One of my favorite films 🎥 ❤
This movie is on my list of cinema that is very good, but I don't need to watch ever again.
Yeah that's about where I'm at. I had to just watch this for film class and I thought it was a very well made movie and I also never wanna fucking see it ever again...ever.
As a kid Harry’s arm always freaked me out
How is it controversial this movie,? So sick of it being so overused. This movie is REAL and BRUTAL. ITS ADDICTION POV
That's 1 of the top most messed up and depressing movies I've ever seen. It's def worth watching tho
Out of the several times I have tried watching this movie after seeing it for the first time, I have never been able to.
Everything you're passionate about, everyone you've ever loved or will love, everything you own, your house, your car, your job, your hopes, ambitions, desires, your humanity.. EVERYTHING can fit neatly and snug into a syringe with plenty of room to spare.. You'll see a mushroom cloud of blood symbolic of the nuke you've just dropped on your life, before it all disappears into the abyss beneath your skin.
If you live long enough, one day the high will be gone and the abyss is all that remains. You'll pound your fist on the table and make pact after pact with yourself to kick once and for all... only after you get "well" one more time of course.
This movie worked as an antidote against substance use for me, same for my friends who watched it. The FDA should just implement this film in educational syllabuses, if they want kids to avoid drugs for the rest of their lives. Utterly disturbing film that leaves an everlasting impression. It's enough to see this one, once in your lifetime.
What a beautiful explanation.
This movie is to some point reallistic and has only one message: DO NOT USE DROGS
Watched this movie a couple days ago and it hit me hard, so sad, anyone going through something like drug addiction need to watch this movie😢
really disturbing movie but amazing
It's all about our personal choices in life, don't take life seriously when life gets hard just choose the right way according on your strenght
I also like how they did the movie in chapters, but they did it by seasons. From Summer being bright and happy all the way down to winter being gloomy and depressing. There wasn’t a Spring though. Might be cool having it there that could represent “hope” showing a montage of the characters trying to recover from their addiction idk. but yeah I don’t think I have it in me to watch it again. 😭
Such a phenomenal movie.
An eye opener , that an girl interrupted. Gave me a new whole meaning to life . Suffering from mental disorders and breaking bad habits. Let me tell this movie crushed me and traumatized me to a point I was sad and numb .
That movie left me scarred
it's a great movie, but I wouldn't watch it again, the movie is too depressing for me.
I think this movie should be shown in schools to show kids what drug addiction is really like, as an addict I can say that the movie is pretty close to real life at least as far as a movie goes
One of the most disturbing movies I’ve ever seen!
I’ve see. It and it leaves me with a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach. I’ll probably never watch it again
I'd recommend reading Selby's book before seeing the film.
Naw I'll pass. Sounds a bit to much of a downer for me currently. I appreciate the summary though.
It's commonly on lists of "movies I'll never watch again" and I can attest to that. I've seen it once and never want to watch it again.
I would advice you do not watch it, I was forced to, it as part of my english class (second language) and it was traumatising. You need to be in a really good place to endure that or already given up all and any hope
Yall are soft ahahah
@@davide.0LG1471 if you call even the slightest capability for empathy soft, then yeah, we are not sociapaths
Most heartbreaking, emotionally distressing film I've ever watched 11/10 Justice for Sara Goldfarb as well as the rest of the main characters 💔
Watch this film with caution. It’s very heavy and dark. I definitely wouldn’t advise it to people with mental health problems, but that aside it’s a very thought provoking movie.

Very good movie, if you are ready. Anyone over 25 years old should watch it. I do not care how old you are, watch it, and do your best to change your future. It is never too late. You can make up your own life as you go along.
This movie saved my life . I stopped pursuing music
“Are you ready to watch Requiem for a Dream”
Lady; anyone that hasn’t seen it-hell no, they have no idea what they’re in for. Especially if any have ever known addiction.
They should absolutely show this in school-I truly believe that. Hits harder than D.A.R.E. ever did
Show it in college. They’ll be old enough by then.
It sure foresaw our present
Scream Queen 👑 Hello, 🤗 It's The Scream Queen, Now me and my man ♂️ Evan Peters liked this movie 🎥 sort of.... We just thought it needed more Storyline. So we decided to remake it, taking The heroin addict storyline, and going from there.... So this all takes place at a drug rehab clinic that Kai's brother Vincent (from Cult) sent him 2. And I'm there visiting my sister Faith (who's already a junkie) And to get my mind off it, Kai shoots me full of heroin (turning me into one, and at 1st I'm sleeping with him just to get myself off. Love is the last thing On my mind ❣️ and once I get clean and start over.... Basically I want to forget him. Now fair warning.... This Actually is a bleak movie.... And I'm using The fact that Kai's Bisexual to my own advantage as I'm not the only one he wants here
This movie sounds very sad, why would I watch it
It's like a day without a night, a comedy without tragedy, or a right from a wrong -- they are like ying and yang. What do you got to lose, your POV? It's a bummer of a lesson flick for sure. Meh. Skip it. Lol😅😅😅
Amazing movie, especially if you like acting and editing. It's like Edgar Wright on crack.
The ending shows that the film is a tragic comedy. It's so ridiculously horrific and all due to the characters stupid decisions. It's like Rome and Juliet; it's ridiculous and funny how tragic it is
It is a poignant film with visceral, gripping storytelling all the way though.
And I never want to watch it again. I can't do it!
The feel bad movie of the year . I loved it
The feel bad movie 😂😂. I'm sorry but that's funny.
The title reveals the ending. Death of the dreams of the 4 characters. And they all resort to a fetal position seeking protection
If you want to feel depressed as shit then this movie is for you.
if you actually know anything about shooting dope, that ending is dumb as hell… heck, most movies do iv drugs really stupidly. there’s no way in hell a real junkie’s ever using one single vein to get high. when you have dozen that you can use, but the movies always have someone not be able to hit one vein, and then they’re either shooting it between their toes or forcing one spot like this movie until his arm needs to be amputated? most overly dramatic nonsense ever. and this movie came out long before stuff like krokodil or tranq were on the streets. and not once does he ever even TRY to find another vein. heck, even in the crook of your arm right there, there are TWO veins you can use, not just one.
i used for most of a decade, and shot for 4-5 of those years and once did i ever come across anyone who ever had to have a limb amputated. but more importantly, if you went to a dr with those kind of injuries, they wouldn’t f*cking arrest you… hell, i even ODed and had the ambulance come one time and because i didn’t fight the cops they just let me go, so there’s no way a Dr would call any cops just from SEEING an injection injury. i don’t care of you’re in the most anti drug town in the country, a dr is gonna do his or her job first and foremost. they only way they’d call the cops on you was if the caught actually stealing meds or you attack them. that’s it. and don’t get me started on Marlon Wayne’s character- he doesn’t ever go to a trial! he’s just arrested one day and then he’s in a prison the next? total nonsense
tldr: take it from someone who actually used to live this life. the premise of this movie is 95% fantasy crap. i mean hell, the director couldn’t even get the pupil scene right. heroin constricts the pupils, it doesn’t dilate them.
I think what happened to his arm was more like a metaphor. It's about repeating self destructive patterns. It reminds me of that saying about walking down a road and falling into a hole because you didn't see it, and how hard it was to get out of that hole... but you continue walking down the same road, you know the hole is there and you fall into it again! It's even more difficult to get out...and it goes on and on until eventually you learn to stay off of that road!
This movie was such a downer.
WOW !!!!! 😐😓
This should be in every school’s don’t do drugs list
U watched it on acid, was not a good idea.
Tyrone
The ending represents addiction to drugs, fame, and recognition being bad lol
Why does noone mention eating disorders? That is also like an addiction and the older lady in the film definitely suffered from that.
Not trying to be an edgelord, genuinely don't get why people think it's so disturbing and sad. It is but it's not THAT disturbing and sad, just watched it and I'd only skip the force feeding if I watched it again. Seems like people with that opinion are the lucky ones who've never heard of Dear Zachary for instance (don't watch, that documentary is actually incredibly disturbing and sad, I refuse to watch it but I know what it's about.)
It Is pronounced REKIEM
I watch it in live theatre everyday 💀
Incredibly overrated film.
It can't possibly be overrated, one of the best movies of all time if not the best.
they chose their own fate. Thats all
Beating your addiction isn’t nearly as easy as you think it is.
@@mask938That is very true I have been there and still am.
Did this movie suck? Yes
This movie is not that bad , idk why people overreact like if it’s traumatizing. Me personally I’ve seen it 2 times and tought it was a great movie about addiction. Not about just drug addiction, your goals or dreams can cause your demise like the old lady that ended up crazy.
the ending is comic not tragic
Meaningless nihilistic film with no real message
