This is one of the best HOF speeches I have ever heard. The guy made mistakes in his life. He is still the greatest receiver in Ohio State history and as a Buckeye fan couldn't be more proud if him!
You should watch the Football Life where he talks about Butch, who was in the NBA, coming after him with a baseball bat for jeopardizing everything he and his family worked and sacrificed for when Chris got expelled from OSU.
Whenever I'm feeling down, whenever I need a lift I watch Chris's speech. Always reminds me life is a process, I am blessed to have people in my life who support me, and to always stay humble and be grateful.
All heart, no lies. Appreciate everything cc, I was born in 88 growing up watching your magical hands, glad you made it off minnesota and 16th. hope to run into you at a vikes game one day
Cris Carter is A Loyal Brother still friends with his homies that he knew since 8 years old. That's what's Up!!! I'm still cool with my Homies since kindergarden So I feel him Mr. Carter I Salute You!!
FINALLY! took long enough. great person and great player. well earned Mr. Carter. Best speech of the night, especially like the last few minutes. the best WR not named Jerry Rice. All he did was catch Touchdowns.
Chris Carter. So happy to have watched you and Randy growing up. To this day, I still have the Three Deep poster with you, Randy, and Jake Reed. Used to practice getting the tips of my toes in for a touchdown just like you. Thank you, on behalf of all Vikes fans out there. Can't wait to see #80 in the new ring of honor at US Bank Stadium!
similar backgrounds.. grew up about 4 hours from one another. though, its true that carter was in high school, not even playing football yet, by the time moss was even old enough to be able to run with a football... and i guarantee moss doesnt end up becoming who he became (maybe the best ever.. the only one u can argue against rice anyway), if he doesnt get put right behind carter. carter got to pass the torch, pay it forward, and teach moss "how to be a pro" like so many of the people he thanked for teaching to him years earlier. and on a kid from rand, wv... small fuckin world lol
I think part of the reason he didn't get in sooner was because the HOF committee didn't want to put another wide receiver (first or second ballot) until Jerry Rice (the GOAT) got in first which was 2010. Michael Irvin got in on his second appearance (2007) CC's first year of eligibility was 2008. 2010 and 2011 were the strongest classes. Jerry and Emmitt in 2010 and in 2011 first timers: Marshall Faulk, Jerome Bettis, Deion sanders, Ed Sabol, Shannon Sharpe. I'm glad he finally made it, but it was just timing and who was ahead of him.
The most emotionally charged hall of fame induction speech i have ever heard! The very best hands of any receiver in football. The very best at keeping his toes in play while making the impossible catches. SKOL Cris Carter!!
Wasn't just his hands. His ability to first catch the ball. And then to relax his whole body so both feet would come down in bounds. He was second to none along the side lines.
@@tonybleau6219 Fitz learned it from watching Carter as a ball boy on the Vikings sideline. That said, Fitz is definitely the inheritor of that mantle. Best hands in football for his entire career. Until someone else does it for as long, Fitz is the only guy I'd consider Carter's equal, if not better.
CC should have went into the HOF in 2007 or 08. He had a few struggles early on, but turned things around, became a role model, and one of the greatest wide outs in history.
Make no mistake about it- I detest pro football with every fiber of my being but I caught some of the speeches as I'm a 'Cane & Warren Sapp fan. I liked Warren's speech but the emotion Chris showcased REALLY caught my attention. I've had a lot of respect for Chris Carter- his speech reaffirmed why & his mentioning of Reggie White (I've been a Reggie fan since his days at Tennessee) brought me to tears. WOW- what a moving speech & an even better man. Congrats Chris!!
I think that was a genuine speech filled with real emotion the last thing on his mind was putting on a show for ESPN. THis man was made to give speeches and catch passes.
Great speech. One of the greatest of all times just like the man giving it. I have watched these HOF inductions for decades and watched films of the ones that I haven't seen and this is on the top of the list for one of the greatest ever. The HOF should actually recognize that they tarnished their own reputation by not putting this man in on the first ballot... shame on them.
No matter what Chris Carter he is the real man. I've been watching NFL last 45 years, I believe Chris Cater is the best NFL wide receiver I 've ever seen. Some people talk about Jerry Rice or Randy Moss but Chris Is the best one in my mind. Congrats!! CC.
CONGRATS Calvin Johnson Jr.!!!!!! You are in the hof with my man Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Jerry Rice, T.O. Just waiting for Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson.
Love CC, such a great person and player. Too bad he never got the championship ring he wanted so... thanks for all the great Vikings games I watched with you giving all you had to win those games, your a great man Chris Carter!
My all time favorite player, after Brian Dawkins, greatest hands in the history of the game. I understand its hard to get in your first year, but to take as long as it did was wrong.
All He did was catch Touchdowns, a great leader in the Locker room. Well deserved HOFer CC !thoughyful and articulate now in his analyst role with Berman and Co
This is one of the best HOF speeches I have ever heard. The guy made mistakes in his life. He is still the greatest receiver in Ohio State history and as a Buckeye fan couldn't be more proud if him!
Facts
I lose it and cry every time he talks about his brother
True dude. That was heartfelt

Oh man I remember that poster. Wish i still had it
He sounded so gracious. Very emotional speech and a joy to watch. What a testimony!
He should have got in before the 2013 season. He should have got in like somewhere in 2007 - 2011 season. But It's about time he got in.
