I graduated from Bowie High School in El Paso Texas 1976. Played basketball for this fine coach. Four years playing for him not one practice was easy. He had us hit the floor running, lay ups, running, passing, running. It was the most intense practice sessions of my life. Run and gun, in your face, full court press, not one second to catch your breath. 5 on 5 off, all my team mates were ready for the game. We won, we lost, and we won more than we lost. The bus rides went from ho hum to bus driver keep going the party is awesome. The 40 minutes from Hell is an EPIC movie, watch it. I bought me a copy. Coach Nolan Richardson gave me the discipline I needed for life. I went on to coach a junior high prep school basketball team the “believe” was what I told my players at half time down by 12. We came back to win the state championship by 1 with 5 seconds to go. I am glad Coach Nolan Richardson is now in the Hall of Fame, he is deserving. God Bless you.

I am sitting in the Tulsa airport, sometime in the early 90s. The place is about empty. I see Nolan Richardson. I am staring at him I guess, because I can not believe my eyes. I know who he is. I have always admired Nolan guiding the Ark team to great seasons. He walks over to me and starts a conversation. I get on my feet quickly and shake the man's hand. What a nice guy he is and was. We talked about the small little Tulsa airport. I let him lead the talk. We talked about 5 minutes , just about a whole lot of nothing, never about basketball, which is exactly want he wanted I guess. I am convinced he knew I knew who he was, and he knew it was making my day, my month, my year to shake his hand talk to the man. This Nolan has a certain charisma. He commands respect. If you ever meet Nolan, I bet you will see what I am talking about.

Love this !!! I'm a Kentucky fan, and I hated to play Nolan Richardson's Arkansas Razorbacks. Why ? Because they were so DAMN GOOD !!! Yes, they were tough and fast and up and down the court, played hard on defense. Now Rick Pitino had some amazing squads that played hard and pressed and whatnot too, but Mr. Nolan and his teams were special and those matchups in that era were EXCITING and so great and fun to watch. Glad I was able to see that era in college basketball. And that was a super induction speech as well !! Well done Sir !!

He was a big deal in college basketball. Took 3 different teams to the Final Four, won a championship against Duke and Coach K, and then led the Hogs right back the very next year, falling short to a talented UCLA squad. He emphasized a full court trapping style defense he called "40 Minutes of Hell" that was merciless. Total legend.

Easily one of the ABSOLUTE best enshrinement speeches of all-time! and I wrote this comment before Mr. Richardson finished it. !! It's right up there with Buck O'Neil's Baseball Hall of Fame enshrinement speech.

Part of that speech was on CBS Sunday Morning today. The background story of his speech there almost brought me to tears but my anger was definitely present. On this one, I simply DO NOT have the grace and class of the man. Rest in Perfect Peace & Power Mr. O'Neil.

That story about the boy and the bottles was excellent and the God and the devil calling him up to play some hoop was excellent . What a great storyteller and God fearing man he is . I was touched by his humility and prayers 🙏 for his daughter who is smiling from heaven above .

Anytime I need a pick-me-up, I tune to this HOF speech of Nolan Richardson. I remember watching his Arkansas basketball teams and how they played so hard. I always figured Coach Richardson as a sort of 'thug" by the way his teams played. But this man tells a story in this short speech. A story of heartache, perseverance, and an appreciation for those who showed him the way to a final victory.

I knew about Richardson for years as a good coach (I hated it when we played his teams, utterly frustrating). Had no clue he was this type of orator/comedian. When coaches retire, you get to see more of their true personalities, it's refreshing.
