    Important to make sure it is grass fed or clean beef or the tallow will be tainted

      I'm sure the beauty skin products on store shelves are much more tainted than skin cream made from tallow that has come from grass fed, grain finished beef. Not everyone has access or can afford grass fed but still a better choice than skin cream full of chemicals from store shelves.

      Has anyone on the “grass fed grass finish” train considered the fact that pastures and any type of planted grass (for colder months) has to be fertilized and chemically sprayed with a herbicide to prevent weeds from taking over? And fertilize is made by extracting raw materials (potassium and phosphorus) and chemically mixed with nitrogen turned into a powder then compressed into a granular form. As a prime angus beef producer, there is absolutely nothing wrong with supplementing beef with grain. As far as grass fed having more Omega 3’s, that would be a fact. But it’s STILL only a fraction of what your body needs per day. So you still are required to get your fatty acids from another source. Here’s another tidbit of info, grass fed cattle must walk and walk….and walk and walk to consume their 3% of food per day. It takes so much longer for that steer (or heifer) to get up to proper weight for any processor. (Usually around 1,300-1,400lbs) our steers reach processing weight in 16 months and are MUCH more tender, plus grade prime. The flavor is better and you can even cut the sirloins with a fork. If you ask a meat cutter or butcher what a better beef is, they will tell you grain. If you ask a social media influencer, they will tell you grass fed. The choice is yours to make. But that’s why Prime beef is much more expensive than choice or select.

      I recently found a good supplier of grass fed grass finished beef and I feel much better eating it vs the grass fed grain finished I was buying my whole life and recently from a local butcher.
      Cows are ruminants and are meant to eat grass, not grains on a feed lot. Also live a better life out on pasture - only bad time for them is when they get taken out to slaughter.
      You could be right about tenderness and size and marbling but grass fed grass finished is better for you all around, and it’s the way the Almighty planned it. God willing I am never going back to grain finished beef and the indigestion that comes along with it. No downside to grass finished in my opinion.

      Pretty much all beef is grass fed Some are fed grain for the last bit of their life. Even with that they are generally fed 90% grass. This suet is not tainted and will work just fine.

      @@pr3ciousaraskincare grade tallow should not have a beefy smell. If it still has a beefy smell then you need to render it down once again. A beefy smelling tallow would be a first or 2nd rendered beef tallow like for cooking. The other oils would be to help the spreadability of the tallow and added skincare benefits! But you are also correct the essential oils can be used for medicinal purposes and aromatherapy

    • @pr3ciousara
      @pr3ciousara 3 месяца назад +2

      I was curious about this too, my guess is that you have to melt down the tallow so it can combine with the olive oil and then you have to let it cool or else it won't whip.

    I have so much rendered tallow jarred up. So easy to render in a crockpot or even an IP. I am lucky enough to still have a real butcher counter at one of our local grocers. If I give them a week, they will save the beef fat (or pig fat for lard) and I get it for about $2/pound. I just tell them how much I want. It renders down beautifully. So glad to see this video, had no clue I could do this. Does it need to be refrigerated after making or is it shelf stable?

      I've been rendering beef fat for tallow. It needs to be melted with water and salt then strained several times. The water and salt help to remove the beef smell and when strained with a double cheese cloth in a strainer it removes the impurities from the fat. You are left with very little smell and adding a touch of essential oils helps as well. Hope this helps ☺️

      Absolutely, purify first with water and salt to cleanse of beefy odour. There will still be a light odour, but is dissipates shortly after being rubbed in the skin.

    Hi! I've been watching ur videos for a very long time and really love them very much. Now i forced myself to give a try to one of urs tallow balm recipes. But am confused about the measurements as I also want to use castor oil with it because of it countless benefits. So kindly help me to measure oils accurately. For one cup of tallow, 1/4 cup of sweet almond oil, 30 to 40 drops of lavender oil, how much castor oil should i use? kindly tell in tablespoons. Is adding 2 tablespoons of castor oil a good idea or not? Anxiously waiting for ur kind reply.

      I don’t find it usually has a scent. I think if you render it at home not long enough it can. It is shelf stable. The whip does not need to be refrigerated but to try to keep it somewhere cool so it doesn’t melt/separate.
