I just had an urge to listen to No Quarter in Piano and the opening gave me chills. This is a banger. Upset I had to find it over a decade later. But still glad I found it
Sooooo Beautiful. My Favorite Led Zeppelin Song ( tied ) with Achillies Last Stand. Great Job. I can listen to the Fender Rhodes all day - so Chill and Jazzy.
@@lecojay3346 thank you for that clarification. My friend and I jammed on No Quarter today. I had learned it in C#m. Then his tab book showed it in Dm. So we were like ???? So, I played it in Dm, and it was definitely easier, as keyboards is not my main instrument, guitar is. So thank you for pointing that out.
I saw this video again today for the first time in probably 12 or 11 years thanks to youtube recommendations, and I've never forgotten it. Saw the thumbnail and clicked instantly, remembered the big sweater sleeves and jamming out to this as a bunch as a Zeppelin obesessed teenager. You absolutely nailed it. Its amazing how time has passed, feels like yesterday.
Colloquially called keyboards. But I think by mechanics and sound (not to mention it's IMMENSE WEIGHT) it's an "electric pianna" as Ray Charles called it in the Blues Brothers. They used the red one at the Armada Room and same one at Ray's music exchange. Never got why they had to buy one when they HAD one. Lol. You'd never see one if these as a house piano. This of course. Is extremely analog. Lol
That Metal Show has a part where they ask their guests if they could have wrote one song what would it be. Mine is this song...No Quarter is a beautiful and haunting song. Incredible!
Very nice man, loved it. Only downside is that i cant see the piano well enough to see what keys your playing so i cant learn how to play it but definatley best cover on youtube by far
Well played! I walked into a new music store today, here in town. They have a vintage wurlitzer. It was just like yours. This song is the first thing that came to mind when I heard how it sounded. Great job.
It takes no less than an actual Fender Rhodes to make it sound fantastic. Been trying to get as close as possible to this sound with the two cheap keyboards that I own and after many failed attempts I called it quits.
Midi is the answer. The native instruments stuff is pretty close now. I have a wurly and a rhodes. you have to pay for the good stuff like anything else, yeah?
AVESOME!!!! I' m looking for this sound for a few weeks and nothing yet...but one day i win...XD Congratulations man, and i loved de improvisation part! XD
How could anyone click that thumbs down button?? 6 ignorant useless trolls This is the best backing track anyone could ever ask for. Excellent work man
You want the REAL backing track played by John Paul Jones and John Bonham? Check it on Spotify, the album Houses of the Holy (Deluxe edition - Disc 2 - track #6), then comeback.
They're insanely expensive. You don't plug them in and go, btw. If you're unfamiliar...fully refurbished is probably 4-5 thousand. They're also extremely heavy. Like 75 pounds. And they have to be tuned... I'd buy one in a heartbeat. In Chicago, you can rent one, which might be ideal. Particularly if they bring it over b/c you can't/don't wanna move it. If I remember, it's like 2-250/month (?) You only have one spine. Ha
@@jonnda There's a place in Chicago that does restoration of these! I'd look it up. Yes, it's going to cost $$. I'm there, too. I'll come get it if it's ever in reliable shape. Or pay 2 guys to move it. Haha
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 Over the last decade or so: I actually did work with them a number of years back. To save costs they told me what to do and I did some of the labor, mostly regarding the key pedistal mod and some more sensitive adjustments. It still has tuning issues and some other stuff wrong with it. But the preamp is fine now, the power supply has been replaced/updated, the red felt has been replaced with a key pedistal modification, I replaced the hammer tips, I rewound at least two pickups, I cleaned out the debris (beads, coins and crayons) in the keybed that was making keys stick. What's left of course is replacing a few tines that drift up or down in pitch after hitting the note, and something isn't quite right with the dampers. Then maybe worry about aesthetics. Mine is from 1970.
GREAT JOB!! (and in the album key of D flat too!!) You're a "double-threat." Any chance you would consider posting a tutorial?? BTW, best NQ posting on RUclips, 5+ stars.
Excellent. I did not know a Rhodes could play classic rock. I had a Rhodes 72, in 1979, and it seemed to be only suitable for Margaritaville, late 70s lounge pop tunes.
That doesn't sound right, exactly. I know it's in jazz quite a bit. I saw some stuff on it, but I forget what they said. It's in the Blues Brothers of course Classic rock, by the time they got to the 80s of course, they were using the DX-7. Nobody wanted to move an expensive, 75 pound, fussy (needs tuning) keyboard. Lol I'd get one if I never had to move it or tune it.
Yeah, I haven't made any adjustments yet. Bear in mind there are lots of effect on this clip (flanger, reverb and tremolo added to the raw sound using Cubase) I will post another tune (Taxi theme tune) tonight with just a little reverb so you can hear what's it sounds like on it's own!
thats cool u played keyboard before u played drums. having a lotta musical talents is nice....bt not only that ur really good!! it shows imo how much u appreciate music, this is a great cover. No Quarters got great drums too, idk if youve done a cover of that bt I'm looking around. Anyway this sound slike a JPJ live jam...really smooth.... ur styles good keep it up
I just had an urge to listen to No Quarter in Piano and the opening gave me chills. This is a banger. Upset I had to find it over a decade later. But still glad I found it
Best thing about drummers that play the piano is that they play the keys perfectly in time :) love this
This piano part and Ray Manzarik's piano on the Door's Riders on the Storm are two of my favorite, both are so paid back but so engaging.
16 years later and this is still the best cover ever!
Sooooo Beautiful. My Favorite Led Zeppelin Song ( tied ) with Achillies Last Stand. Great Job. I can listen to the Fender Rhodes all day - so Chill and Jazzy.
Probably my favourite Led Zep Song.
Really well performed.
Thanks.
Luv and Peace.
Truckload of talent here my friend. I've been listening to this song intently since the early 70's when it came out and you've done it justice.
this was an incredible cover dude. Would be cool to see a tutorial or a lesson for this song.
Rob C I’m just starting keys now...30 years of playing bass. I’d love to see a tutorial on this song, including fx settings!
1 of my favorites by zeppelin nice job on that fender Rhodes sounds great
On the recording it sounds like C#m but it is actually in Dm. They slowed the tape down for effect. If you listen to live versions it's always in Dm.
Didn't sound that way to me.
classicaljames wow that’s crazy
oww
Huh. I always thought that it was recorded in C# minor.

The song and your cover are fantastic.
This never gets old.
My absolute favorite Preston part! He always brought so much to The Zepplin. Cool sweater man.
a treat to my ears...
I caught myself singing along to this lol
Excellent improvisation too, you took the spirit of No Quarter and made it your own!
beautiful man

"No Quarter" is a masterpiece. And the Fender Rhodes is magic. That makes a brilliant video.
that wrong note at the end was what made it for me! GREAT job!
Just a passing note
What 2 people could not have liked this? Its amazing!
That sound...man that takes me back. Great cover too but the sound of that keyboard is epic!

Learned how to play this by watching your video a few years ago. This is awesome!
It’s so fricken good!! I listen to this video a lot. Thanks for killin it ❤
Absolutely fantastic
Classic piano and classic song! Amazing, nice work!
the best cover of no quarter
Yes, so it's probably not very accurate!
The solo was improvised rather than trying to copy John Paul Jones exactly.
This is really good. I think your cover of this song has the most funk on RUclips.
Great job, the vocal is running through my mind..
What a great song! Very well played! Thanks
Bro, this was fantastic!
Thank you! This is a dope improv/performance! my favorite of the covers I've currently watched on yootoob. Love the accents and phrasing.
Love it! Well done
Loads of talent. That was cool as hell. I could hear the vocal in my head while you were playing. You're videos are cool. Thank you for sharing.
A very good and pleasant cover! Congrats :-)

Stellar playing my friend! Definitely learning this one

Good Lord, Juan! That's insane. I respect it, but it's still nutty as hell for a first tune.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 haha I know! I like a good challenge! But mainly I was inspired! So, thanks again.

I just got that related to someone's Google ID, lol.
Great job man. I am mostly a guitarist but... You inspire me to take full advantage of the dilapidated Fender Rhodes I was given.
Where you at? I had Rhodes back in the 1970’s Would like to haveagain. I’m in Ohio. If you want to sell it
