This fix %100 worked for me. Stacked little leather discs until the valve had enough friction. Can’t thank this gentleman enough for sharing this simple, yet super effective mod.
Thanks for that. Had the same issue. Gradient knobs or levers were much better in the 60s and 70s if I compare with the old stoves and lamps I have around.
Excellent idea!!! What I need to know is how you "adapted" the stove to accept the direct line from an LP tank to the "Coleman" boss inlet. Those little bottles would destroy any budget over the long haul and that would be a most sensible solution!
Sort by OMG! What a great MOD!! I tried everything and finally retired the stove for 2 years PISSED at Coleman. What are they thinking? Full on to full off in 10 degrees rotation?? I used a piece of a yoga mat.. PERFECT! I have their basic 2 burner no ignition. Big Thanks!
Call these problems the plan of the rich. They want people to burn more fuel and to buy more stoves. Notice the higher the flame, the more coleman fuel you burn. AND putting friction devices behind those knobs saves THEM money.
I was told that behind that knob is the batteries for the ignition start. Doesn't look like it. So where are the batteries? Certainly there has to be batteries? The coleman stove I have now has batteries. Why doesn't this fold and go stove take batteries? Found out after reading articles that there is a quartz/flint igniter in there somewhere. Since there are no instructions on how to replace this quartz, then this stove has to be replaced, which I figure is the whole plan. Coleman wants to sell more stoves so it sets up the knobs to be loose and the quartz rather than batteries. FOLLOW THE MONEY. Devious plan. Look up the video THE CORPORATION. This video says all corporations are psychopathic, not caring about anyone but themselves. After reading every review on Amazon on every stove I found out that all stoves have these problems except Weber. I found no reviews on Weber about these problems. That doesn't mean there are no problems, though.
Not gonna wade into the corporation thing since I'm only here for stoves, but you can totally get new piezo igniters for stuff. You just need to be competent enough to figure out how to replace it. It's just a guess, but the piezo igniter is likely inside or just behind the big red button with a wire running to the point in the stove.
@@8Jory Thanks. This corporation SHOULD have been the one to tell everyone that there are parts. They didn't, so that tells everybody why. @@pureenergy4578 That seems to be for a full size bbq, though it would work just fine with some trimming of the wire. They are really dead simple technology. You can even get them in a ten pack on shamazon though I would call their quality into question. I'm the kind of guy that takes everything apart and fixes it if it breaks so for me fixing a problem piezo in anything is just a normal wednesday afternoon. I understand that's not realistic for a lot of people. It's a great way to save money though and I encourage others to try fixing stuff before throwing it out as long as you're sure you're not going to hurt yourself in the process. Anyway, have a great day!
There is an o-ring on the control knob stem that could be damaged. There is also a seat for that o-ring inside the control body that the knob stem unscrews from that could be dirty, damaged, or both. A single hair in the wrong spot could cause a leak. The whole thing could also not be assembled properly (ie too loose, don't over tighten it either) and causing a leak from the valve body.

Leather shim good idea
Very adaptable. I'm on it thanks!
Thumbs up..... ...ENJOY....THE SIMPLE LIFE
Excellent sir !
Still workin well!
How do u like that folding COLEman stove
Very much! when you only need one burner you can cook with the other half folded up. Saves space on the countertop.
You are clever!
Very helpful video....thanks for sharing. Going to try this technique on my antique Coleman 2 burner.
What a great mod! I noticed that the adjustment is either to high or to low, when modding you have more control of the flame. Thanks for tutorial!

You can buy a hose that goes direct from bulk tank to the stove regulator

Any idea what would cause propane leak through burner control knobs?
Only thing that comes to mind is maybe there is an O-ring or other type gasket that has gone bad. I'd start there.
Brett Jameson I am having same issue on my propane camp stove. Have you found any answers or solutions?
