For what it’s worth, your videos are much more enjoyable when you include both before and after in the same video as opposed to just one or the other. Great job on that piano!

I love these upright pianos. So sad to see when people have let them go to the ruins. I dont care how many companies make the digital piano. You can never duplicate the sound and feel of the acoustic piano.

Yes, yes, yes. Way to go Brigham on restoring one of America's great upright grand pianos. Love the sound of my 1902 Schaaf Bros 57" upright grand. If you have an antique upright piano, please rehab or restore and play these American musical icons. Bravo to Brigham and crew for restoring these fine instruments and showing the process. Acoustics rule.

The before and after is incredible. It is obvious that you cared for this instrument and gave it the dignity that I once held. Great job! Your playing is nice, too.

The bass in particular sounds great. Excellent save!

I've watched this so many times. Getting back into piano stopped in adolescence but now I can afford to buy my own and take lessons but want to learn more than just playing. This was very educational keep up the videos it's gold.

Pretty work. I love the satin finish so much more than the ultra gloss black that is so popular now.
Just noticed @ 5:59 - F# .... something is still binding. I'm sure you have it resolved already.

What is the function of the little wooden element right under the music stand?

  • @kyrvhy

Awesome. Is that an early "Duplex" type system in the tenor and treble section? It appears to be cast into the plate.

For me, the first piece you played was so beautiful, the sound is amazing! any way to know the name of the music?

Brigham, I have almost this exact model that I am restoring from the 1800s. What did you do about the brass action rails that most likely have cracked over time?

I have the same problem. Do you notice it while playing? I don't.
I tried something with epoxy. There is an issue with getting the copper in the original position, which you never see on the promotion video. I am considering to put epoxy on it, wrap it with teflon tape and use wooden bars and clams to get it right. Then you can scrape off the superflues epoxy after hardening.

5:34 that C# is binding quite a bit.

The one thing which seems out of place is that very modern fallboard decal.

  • @robbicu

You used a modern fall board decal. I would have sourced an original style decal.

Looks good..makes me wonder who will end up buying a 85 note piano...these are worth considerably less than a comparable 88 note piano...hmmm I wonder why it wasn't mentioned in the video that it's an 85

You want a great key top material, we should go to Tusq nuts company- they make nuts for guitars out of this really improved material that duplicates the sound of bone nuts. They should really make the stuff for piano keys.
