    Put your paint can in warm hot water and keep shaking to keep the pressure up, as you spray the can cools, so keeping it warm during use helps avoid the ‘tiger stripe’s as the the paint level and nitrogen gas levels drop. Test it out, you will see what I mean. Greetings from Tasmania Australia 🎼🎹😁🇦🇺🦘

    I see people in the UK posting all the time on social media: 'free piano - must be collected by the end of the week, otherwise it's going to the dump.' Presumably they no longer have the space for them if they haven't been used for a while, or they're clearing a house belonging to a deceased relative. I assume many of them aren't saved, which is a shame.

    I am impressed at your piano moving set up. The large wheels on the dolly, the ramps, and the trailer with easy access. Much better how I have moved pianos in the past by getting my mates to help lift them into my van.

    This was lovely to watch. In this disposable age, to see you breathe life back into that lovely instrument is really special. Last year I inherited a well looked-after 1904 Richard Lipp & Sons twin crown and play it for 1 to 2 hrs every day. It has a gorgeous tone and a lovely touch but isn't holding its tune so well any more. Makes me want to do a restoration of my own, but it could be a step too far for me. In any case, it really warms my heart to see you rescuing pre-loved pianos so they can continue to bring joy (and not become landfill). Warm regards from Sydney - Dave

    Excellent workmanship. I am in the process of repairing an old upright that has been in my living room for about 33 years. It is a William R. Thomas Cabinet Grand, made in Edwardsville, Il. It has several strikers broken in various places. Your videos have given me the courage to tackle this project. I do woodworking as a hobby so I will make a couple new pieces as needed. It is surprisingly close in tune (by my ear) but I ordered a tuning hammer kit to fine tune it after repairs are done. Also needs six new key covers (plastic). Thanks again for the great video's and the time you take to make them ! Much appreciated !!!

      What is the cost estimate solely for replacing all 88 cords and filing the hammers?
      Because if one comes across a free Yamaha piano from that period, immediately one must consider the cost of moving the piano and replacing the cords. $1000usd or more?

    How big a deal is it to replace the return loop cords? Does the entire action for each key have to be removed? And what do they actually do? I have a U1 and several of the cords are broken, they seem to play ok.

    • @churtonparkpianos4240
      @churtonparkpianos4240  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, each hammer assembly needs to be removed. I just replace them all , if 5 are gone, they'll just keep breaking. The cord helps bring the hammer to the back check so aids repetition. To test, play a key with cord intact and cord broken very slowly, you'll see that key with broken cord is slow to return thus feels slightly lumpy to a player with higher skill level. Beginners won't be able to tell the difference. The other thing is the spring that connects to the cord can stick out and you can hear a click/metallic sound which is the spring hitting the hammer shank.
      Hope that helps!
      Thanks, Andy

      @@churtonparkpianos4240 very helpful -- thank you . The "key" (pun not intended) is that I'm not a very advanced player who requires a fast repetition response -- and that will not likely change significantly anytime soon (retired & in my 70's); some gentle Bach partitas and a few Debussy pieces will not likely cause much of a problem. I love my U1 -- it holds its tuning like a rock. Perhaps if it becomes a problem I'll have it addressed, but at my level of playing it's fine for now. Thanks again!
