You just explained how Joe Louis used to always score with that jab beautifully, while avoiding the jab coming from the other side so effortlessly. That's the technique! Great video as usual, Coach! :)
I like coaches humility, saying he isn't perfect, and still makes mistakes, but always strives to correct them. It shows he too has the drive to be better. So there's no reason why those who learn from his videos shouldn't do the same. Lead by example!
I'm so happy I found this channel. I'm about to begin boxing with my 11 y/o son for the first time and we're starting to look at local Boxing gyms. I wish Coach Anthony was local, he seems like a good mentor for anyone. Keep the videos coming, I just subscribed.
D3X idk He was fighting backing up . He should have stayed the aggressor but easier said than done . He looked a lot better in the first fight he lost that to but not like this it was humiliating.
Allen Warren Yeah but fury didn’t go out to win in the first fight, he was weak as a kitten after losing so much weight and just tried to cruise a decision. This time he pushed towards wilder, a bully always crumbles when you bring it to them, just like Fury said. Nobody ever put wilder on the back foot before and as soon as someone did he crumbled under the pressure and didn’t know what to do
@@D3xTRb0y yeah but Fury is easily the best guy in the division. It was a brilliant gameplan but not exactly an obvious before. People have seen Wilder take punishment before and battle back. Fury smothered him in a way that only Fury can. I mean how many other boxers are 6ft9, 270lbs and possessing an 85in reach???
Love the fact you’re a brother firstly, love supporting my ppls; your style is hella different, it’s calm, you talk a lot, but you don’t ramble! Your demos are clear and in depth, thought I’d already subbed but I will now, keep up the great work
Great video Coach!!! Everything works behind the jab!! I use the same style and have the same concepts don’t know where I picked it up.. but love your work!🙌🏽🙏🏽🥊
Thanks Coach and Fast Eddie. Tonight I'm going to work on 1st jab being full man then double and tripling more in a half man extension. I'll try to stay more from the chin without getting into up jabs. Like you said before Coach, always exaggerate the fundamentals on the mitts and the bags and leave the fancy stuff for sparring and the fight.
great vid....................can you make a video show drills to find your range, maintaining your range and controlling your opponent. thanks coach anthony
That's how I was taught to throw the jab as well..Its an old school thing but you're also using your shoulder to protect your cheek. It felt weird at first because you feel like you're over-extending Also Coach...I've been following you now since you had under 10k...You need to start selling that shirt!
The most underrated jabber ever is Tim Witherspoon . He jabbed with the catcher's mitt almost all the time. Almost beat Larry Holmes while he was just a youngster.
@@ericpolski5187 if you not turning your hips when you jab, you throwing a arm punch. I guarantee your arms are gonna be dead which leads to hand dropping.
Holy shit!! The elbow in make a ton of difference in my snap and power...incredible how little tips can improve technique! Now I gotta correct years of throwing my jab outside my body
I hope one day i can make it to the states and train with you when i wanna turn pro. Its my dream. I hope you can be my coach and train me to be one of the best. It's not about the money. It's about the legacy i wanna build. Shoutout from singapore 100%
A good jab is so important. Even in MMA you see guys like George Saint Pierre have great succes thanks to his jab. Not only to find their range but for setting up takedowns or kicks.
Vincent van der Veen very true mate,I do kickboxing and jab hides kicks brilliant, doesn’t even have to land the jab purely to distract or make them flinch to set up the big shots or kicks
elbow in and they don't see it! half a man and your whole skeleton lines up behind the punch! a straight line from your toes to your knuckles a stiff jab is like running into a post! Love the vids coach!! over in London UK
Nice vid I’m from jersey Nd I got about a year doing boxing Nd I always like to learn from other just not my coach Just to see which way I like best Nd honestly ur tips always help me 🥊❤️great vid
Ok, finally!!! OAmerican old school jab!!!! As was thrown by Robertson and the rest of elite old school jabbers!!! And yes, its is thrown from the heel to tow stance which is also old school (60/40, more weight on the back foot). That's exactly what I have been teaching to my guys! That crap almost everyone throws nowadays is not enough reach! Like my coach used to say - your arm is longer than that, son! The explanation provided is a bit dif from the way I explain it but very educational nevertheless:) For me it's about bringing that shoulder in to protect the chin in such a way that with the eye closest to the shoulder you are looking at the fist like at the barrel of a gun. Btw, Eddie here does bring his elbow out a bit sometimes:). Now, the next thing to focus on is not skimming with it. Since you are aligning it in such a fashion there is a possibility that you dont land it with the first two knuckles. If I did that my coach would yell - who is over there? Lol same goes for number 2. Make sure the 1-2 are properly aligned as it's a bit difficult to do. So the best thing is 5 lb dumbbells that you throw 3/4 speed at your throat in the mirrow for some time regularly so it becomes part of your muscle memory. Also, when stepping forward with it should be baby steps. You are only allowed one long step on the last jab if necessary as long steps are easy to intercept. Btw, stance suggested for it should be off the back leg 60/40 as you want the lead shoulder higher than the back so you have full variety of punches at all angles thrown with the back hand as needed. Cool video on the greatest punch in boxing - THE OLD SCHOOL JAB!!! Cheers!!!!! Thank you very much!!!
ah i see what you mean now. i do that when i jab to the body. because to the head you will cover less distance and if you get countered it might knock you out when driving forward at head level
Your model boxer is too excellent. The angles, the moves are brillant. We don't see this in mma and my feeling Is that it could work pretty good against grabbing.
Are we gonna ignore that Eddie was dead on with his prediction of Fury winning by stoppage in the mid to late rounds in the Wilder-2 fight?? 😉

Couch Anthony always coming in with these VITAL videos, love from Scotland brother 🥊
Bro Donte need you all jokes aside . You know a lot more then the people in his corner .
I don’t know if his corner is that bad, he’s 33 years old it’s too late for him to make any big changes

Mark O True but who else has really tried? A 50 year old Ortiz? Wilder has only ever fought bums that go out there looking to survive, not to win
Love your examination of the little details coach!

Ok
I would also like to hear what type of fight you think Deontay could have fought to change the outcome.
hatemadness He could’ve brought a gun with him and he still would’ve lost
I think he should improve his inside fighting. Duran, marciano, armstrong kind of style
laurence robert tampus halpin It’s too late, he can train for that all he wants but when he gets in the ring he will go right back to his instincts
Excellent breakdown....
