I'm john and have been tattooing over 20yrs. A couple of professional tips for you. Use Scott Shop Towels (2 or 3 should be more than enough for hand poked tattoos), use less green soap (a&d should be applied to help make it easy to wipe). Use nonlubricated razors and don't put lotion before the tattoo process (you don't want lotions and lubricants blocking the ink and the stencil won't stick). Work on smaller designs (Focus on more solid lines). Hopefully these tips help.
@@gab6031I think doing big designs will be much more work and harder to get it right sence it's a hand poke tattoo and it's nothing like with a machine.
I also do stick n pokes and they heal GREAT with a second skin, I clean the tattoos and then apply it. They invented it for burn patients but they protect and help heal tattoos beautifully!! Try it out!
Professional tip for you never lotion before the tattoo, also when shaving you do not want to irritate the skin so go with the grain not against it. Use less green soap for what your doing. And number one thing handling your ink caps and everything in your bags should be done wearing gloves. Your digging through your sterile supplies bare handed. There's a lot else to address but I see in a skim others have already addressed them. Good luck and take advice from your peirs and enjoy what you do.
A tip that might be helpful, shaving the hair from the bottom up is not very good because it can irritate the skin and the area and end up causing excoriation in the area, always try to shave in the direction of the hair. In waxing it can work by shaving from the bottom to the top, but for tattoos it's not so good. I like your videos, keep it up!
Regarding how to "wrap" the tattoo, I don't like to leave it more than 1 or 2 days with plastic wrap, always washing with mild soap and water twice a day, after that, using some product to help hydrate and heal the skin, Coconut or spun oil is a great healer as well as being natural.
Awesome. Short video but good. I like to see the progress your getting done. I find your designs very unique and refreshing compared to most of the other tattoos i see being done. Roses penny wise lions etc. at least you show imagination in your art. I like your chaos star, your skelingten lol and your eye atom. As for your idea of the crampus tattoo i suggest maybe play with the image. In other words try it in different forms of art. Pointallism or fantasy or portrait and even as a caricature and even cartoon or manga. Sometimes i find if i play that way and try different genres inspiration will hit me and then the image goes from my mind onto my paper way easier. Thanks for taking the time to make the video and for showing your learning so others can learn also. Have an awesome night Madds
you look awesome beautiful and cute 🥰 I really enjoy your videos and I love your descriptions and useful tips. your sweet voice and your easygoing subtle sense of humour are very refreshing ☺ finally I have to tell you again that you look incredibly beautiful and indescribably cute 🥰🥲😋🤤 thanks for sharing
hey there! thanks you so much for your ultra helpful video content :) I just started stick and poke and it's super fun! best wishes from switzerland, salome
Hi there! Thank you so very much, I hope you're happy with your pokes so far and can find lots of good youtube content to keep you company while you work on them!
Gosh ya so cute and your tattoos as well I really enjoyed your video 🥰 i startet tattooing myself a couple of weeks ago and fucked my skin up as much as possible fknlol I've learned a lot from your work on this video as for shading and mixing colors with hazel . thanks 😊 a lot and sy for my bad English 👎 😅
a bit out of the way, can you talk about how deep the needle needs to go into the skin? Many sources say 1.5-2mm but they tilt the needle at 45-60 degrees. I'm working on fake skin that's about 1.2mm thick, will it be too deep if I poke a needle through it? Thank you 🙏
Nope! You can totally get a rad texture using selective poke density. I'm working on a project to practice doing that- I just feel that, as a novice, it's taking more of a gamble to trust myself with only solid black. Because of the red irritation it's hard to see how the values will turn out once its healed. But- I am self taught! I'm not sure what a professional would say is the ideal way to tattoo gray values. Thank you for your comment.
Witch hazel is great for taking the sting out of tattooing and minimizing swelling. It's also not soapy like green stuff- where I live there are lots of minerals in the tap water, so it's safer for me to use pre packaged liquids like distilled water or witch hazel.
I haven't tried dermalize. But I've tried saniderm and tegaderm. And as a professional of 20yrs. I don't mess with those products because they carry a 40% chance of having a reaction. An adhesive burn really.
Great question, I soak and scrub my grip in alcohol every time I use it, and this grip is only for using on me. I would buy a fresh one if I was going to poke someone else. The cling film doesn't allow the needle to clip into place if it's under the needle, and I think it would affect the grip to put it over the needle. But totally valid, thank you for your question!
Just thought it was odd how important you made the rest of it but left out the needle. I don't have a problem with clipping the needle in over the cling film, it's far too thin to get in the way. Grip tape over the cling film helps with the lost grip :)
@August R If she puts griptape over the grip, she'd have to use a different grip for each different gauge needle she's using, or she'd have to reapply the tape every needle change
I would pick up a container of bactine spray for sanitation! Should be about 4 bucks, and would be a decent replacement for green soap. You need a bit of disinfectant, but can still use distilled water for the majority of your wipes. Maybe try clearing off excess ink with distilled water and do a final wipe with bactine, if you get really desperate. Be safe!
I used a tattooing witch hazel to thin out my tattoo inks into shades of lighter greys- I mixed several containers but really only ended up using a 50/50 solution and a pretty light one with just a few drops of ink to a full cup of witch-hazel.

@@perfectsupressiondon Oooh, thank you so much, Don, excellent tips! I will keep this in mind going forward.
I have very sensitive skin as well. I have learned that Saniderm for about 3-4 days after I do a tattoo on myself seems to heal best 😇
wow that shading on your chaos star! i think that was a great addition
Thank you so much :3 I'm pretty pleased with it, I'm hoping it holds well.
I love your videos, I super enjoy the vlogging style and hope you upload more
Thank you so much for your support!

Looking really good
Which tattooing witch hazel do you use? Im thinking of shading a piece for my partner but need to find the best ink for it first!
So is the only way to shade with stick and poke is to use value?
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question

@@MadsMcKay thank you so much
What you think bout using needles that aren’t for tattooing?
Ive heard its okay to dilute ink with distilled water, is this true or should i be using witch hazel?
Actually distilled water works just fine!
Witch hazel? Why do u put which hazel in the ink isn't that bad?
Witch hazel is great for taking the sting out of tattooing and minimizing swelling. It's also not soapy like green stuff- where I live there are lots of minerals in the tap water, so it's safer for me to use pre packaged liquids like distilled water or witch hazel.
What kinds of needles are used for shading?
For healing, you might wanna look into something like Dermalize. They have a clear bandage as well as pads for protecting the actual tattoo.
I haven't tried dermalize. But I've tried saniderm and tegaderm. And as a professional of 20yrs. I don't mess with those products because they carry a 40% chance of having a reaction. An adhesive burn really.
interesting that you wrapped everything in cling film but not your needle holder? any reason for that? not very sanitary

what did you drown the ink with?
YOure REALLY GOOD!
great vid :) I support the emphasis on hygiene
What u use for washing the ink? Can i use just distilled water if i run out of green soap?

I've not heard of mixing ink with witch hazel, what does that do?

why do u sound exactly like my inner monologue tho
