I can proudly say I've jumped off a high dive one time in my life. I went forward too much and pancaked onto my stomach and chest. It knocked all of the wind out of me, and I hurt pretty bad for a few days. I marked it off my bucket list, and I'm happy to never do it again.

crazyriders83 Yep..in my case it was 10m (around 33 feet) diving platform in a public pool. I guess if another guy didnt reacted that fast i might have drowned..couldnt breath and was disoriented...and my back..worse then the worst sunburn.
When I was about 8 years old I took a bet to jump from the 10 m tower. It looked so much higher up there from the platform, but I had to jump because people were watching. My feet hurt so bad from the impact on the water and worst of all the guy that was supposed to pay me was gone.
Damn...and the Olympic divers make it look so easy. That bruise is insane!!!!

I did an arse flop my first year of guarding at our outdoor pool. 10m platform. Except my legs were competently straight as they hit the water. I bruised my tailbone and inner knee through but on both legs. i could barely sit for about 3 weeks.
My dad jumped off of a crane into a lake at 25 Meters and he ass flopped and he had a bruise on his ass for over a week.

Adding on to my last comment, when I was about 10 or 11 I jumped from three meters, I thought it would be cute to jump in a star shape, arms and legs completely spread... I think you get the point. OUCH.

Actually with every level he went up he began to bend his knees slightly landing more and more on his butt. His butt was already feeling a little pain from the jump prior. Look closely and you can see the progression. The bruises are hilarious. He has a great sense of humor to post this.

The energy between water molecules is so strong, it was shatter all your bones if you jump from a very high distance. That's why a lot of divers that dive from really high distances often go into the water fist first, in order to not break any bone in their hands.

If that were myself on that last dive, before I jumped I would have asked 'does the pool have that chemical in it that turns your piss purple'? I don't care about the bruises, I don't care about the pain, hell, I don't even care if I died. I hate dives to also I am bad at them i tryed to dive(not pencil dive)into the pool 1cm and I belly flopped
First time I dived I did it way wrong and ended up twirling underwater and inhaling water.
I know of one fella who did this here in Stockholm about ten years ago and his stomach burst open in the middle like a zipper. He survived but... pretty disgusting.
Fred Wells I don't know if you know this but people also *drown* in swimming pools yet they're still allowed. Like I said his belly opened like a zipper, not in violent explosion of gore and death. He was stitched up just fine!

Every summer we would go to the old quarries in the woods. That was over 50 feet (15 meters) pretty scary the first time, but the climb up was worse by far. My first time i ran and jumped off, my arms flailing in the air, about half way down i realized i was going way to fast and tucked my arms in. Even my little sister jumped. 10 meters is nothing.

The forces of impact are none whatsoever when compared to the forces of your bones growing. physical training can stunt your growth, but only if you were lifting something like 1,5x your bodyweight multiple times a day. what he mixed up here is cause and effect. Good divers aren't short because of diving, rather short divers have a natural advantage, because they can rotate quicker and need less force to do the same movements, and are therefore more common in the elite class than tall divers. The same is true for gymnastics: Gymnastics doesn't make you short, being short merely gives you an advantage. Hope this makes sense.
Even a little bit of exercise increases your coordination a lot.

If you knew anything about swimming, you'd know that shorts are the most un-hydrodynamic piece of swimwear. Thats why people who swim in shorts drown sometimes and people who wear a speedo rarely drown from clothing related causes.
