I've had a listen to the podcast, and I get everyone loves their own bike. I'm really lucky, I have two Nomad uprated Husqvarna bikes, an FE350 and a 701. I love the 350 on snotty, technical trails but 10 hour oil and filter changes mean for big trips the 701 takes some beating. So for me, if I'm riding with mates on enduros on short, sub 3 day trips, the 350. For multi day trips, I'll take the heavier and trail slower but tarmac quicker 701. I readily recognise I am properly lucky to be able to choose between an adventure enduro and an adventure dual sport but if I were forced to keep just one bike, it'd be the 701. If I were confident with valve clearances, maybe I'd have the 350, but I know my mechanical skills. Simple stuff, I'll manage. So the oil and filter changes on the 350 take me about 20 minutes. I love them both but for TET riding, the 701 takes some beating.
2 amazing bikes to have in the garage :-)
@@adventurespec You're right. I'm one lucky bloke.
Agreed. The 701/690 is the best when they are working.
I already know what the best TET bike is because I'm riding it 🤷🏻
Lucky you!
Reliability, service intervals, fuel mileage, trail manageability, ergonomics, parts availability, and overall MSRP... I think you know who the clear winner is. The fastest bike to Starbucks isn't always the winner
I wil modify Honda 300 rally ..for Balkan offroad TET..
I haven't been on the English TET - but I have ridden Denmark, Norway, Slovenia, Croatia and some of Italy - and people should not be discouraged from trying it on bigger bikes. I did it on a transalp, and it's really not that demanding
Hi Martin, of course everyone has their own ideas about this and bigger bikes are completely capable! We can only give our options as we go
Watch this space.... we will be having a heated debate with a couple of big bike riders on the podcast. Inevitably they will be made to look foolish and sell their behemoths... maybe not 😜
It also depends on the terrain. TET UK is very different to TET Norway for example. There are parts of TET UK that would very very challenging (possibly dangerous) on a big bike for an average rider.
@@clivebarber Absolutely. Finland, easy on a Tiger/GS. Strata Florida on anything bigger than a dual sport would range from difficult to impossible to dangerous. TET Portugal I think is a cut off. If you're really good and confident, maybe doable on a bigger Adv, but for me, my 701 was as big as I'd go. Maybe T7 if I had one.
Greg - it was amazing to see my comment make it into your adventurespec email! So I am an avid listener of the TAMP pod and as always, it was great to get everyone's perspective on the trip and the bikes. My biggest disappointment was that there was no in depth on the 310GS (which happens to be the bike I've recently downsized to - with full Rally Raid treatment no less!). But the CRF was my other choice and so I'm still looking for more perspective as there may still be a CRF in my future :)
Glad you saw your comment in the email. Schedules meant we couldn't get Adam with his G310GS in the podcast I'm afraid
I'll try and get Adam to record something with us.
I ride some parts of TET in Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkie. My motorbike is an old Honda XR 400. The best moto ever!
Sounds like a fun adventure!!
And what a BRILLIANT podcast it is!! Highly recommended.
Thanks Jim!
OG listener! Thanks Jim.
Great podcast, very entertaining and lots of information.
Thanks for that!
Thanks Steve!
Loved the debate on the podcast👍🤣
Thanks for listening!
OMG... a whole hour of it! ...the gang of you! Well it's either that or I watch the neighbours puppy chase it own tail all afternoon!! hehe...
Better than puppies guaranteed
How was the puppy?
@@clivebarber C. Less profanity from the puppy... hehe. Much the same result though. Naa... loads of fun, and it reminds us that there are many routes to an end result. What would you, or Noel chose differently starting again with the CRF ...seeing as we'd already agree that 20% more power would be more useful?
@@grahamrowe6278 I'd still get a CRF. The 690 is tempting, but £3k more, and probably more problematic in the long run.
@@clivebarber Aah ye, but would you pick the Rally again or the L?
What’s happened to Dave these days? And I thought he had the perfect TET bike 450l 😱😜
Dave is going strong, taking more time to ride!
Good to hear 👊
Thanks for the podcast tip 👍
Any time!
This is gonna be very interesting to see which TeT bike will win! Cheers mate.
Excellent plug for the podcast!! Your content and the TAMP content are both cracking entertainment, with some brilliant insight into adventure biking. Big fan, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
On ALL your video's the sudden NOISY interruptions with fill in photographs or other parts are REALLY annoying and HURT my ears. PLEASE edit and normalize BEFORE posting. Otherwise great content, thanks.
I watched the video, then I read your comment and then I rewatched it and I can honestly say that I have no idea what you are talking about. At what moment is there a loud noise in this video?
Maybe just turn down the volume a notch mate...
