    Patreon. The Husky project series finally got its proper run out. We rode a lap of Snodonia, camped in the cold and loved every single second. The trails we better than video can do justice to, the scenery was just as good and we didn't eat a proper meal in three days because every restaurant for miles was full. I wouldn't have changed a thing.
    Thanks as always for allowing and facilitating videos like this. They are the work I always dreamed of.

      @@BrakeMagazine No 250(300 now)? You're missing out.
      I thought the Vv300 would be good for rough trails too but not enough ground clearance and too heavy. 400lbs with luggage. So going to prep the kawi for those rides. Check my channel to see.
      Don't get me wrong. It's a blast in the twisties and on gravel roads with 2 extra teeth on the rear sprocket. My driveway ends on gravel road. K-miles of them here. Asphalt here is 55mph so 65 is a nice cruising speed for me...until the road twists, then it's Chubby Checker time.

    Thanks for finally putting this one out. Really beautiful video, and it’s quite special to see you and your dad sharing some really memorable experiences! I definitely think you have the wrong bike and a crf300l would have don’t everything but in more comfort and with less chance of a breakdown haha but I get that this series is about showing what a slightly modded race bike can do when it’s not on the enduro circuit.

      Sorry it took so long! It was a hard one to edit I to something watchable 😭
      I'm pretty stoked we get to do stuff like this together. It's rare 🙂
      I reckon you're right. I love riding dirtbikes and they're ripper at a lot of stuff but I reckon you'd get a 300L through most of it fine. There are quite a few bits that are messier than they look and the ground clearance/suspension would make it a bit tougher but on the balance its probably a little better suited 🙂

    • @iangriffiths9930
      @iangriffiths9930 2 года назад

      I have a CRF250l and ride in North Wales, I’m not sure the CRFs are better? Yeah on the road and packing camping gear definitely but off road you really feel the difference between the CRF and a full on enduro bike. After riding the CRF for a while then trying out an enduro bike it feels like your somehow cheating! Maybe if your skilled enough you might be ok but the lack of suspension, ground clearance and power make it really hard work.

    • @JohnSmith-ep2hh
      @JohnSmith-ep2hh 2 года назад +3

      @@iangriffiths9930 I live around mid wales and ride most weekends anywhere from south of the Brecon Beacons up to Newtown in mid wales, and I must admit having owned two ktm exc’s previously and now a CRF 250L I find it way more suitable and I think it’s daft that so many people who just ride green lanes use enduro bikes when they have snappier throttles, ridiculous service intervals, and are generally less reliable as used enduro bikes will often have had much harder lives when they were new, than crf’s. When compared to the fact that CRFs are much cheaper both new and used, they are very beginner friendly having low power, they are a bit comfier and they have bells and whistles like abs and a fuel gauge which people dismiss, until they’ve had them and realise how handy all those small things are. The low seat height is a godsend on difficult terrain as you can easily flat foot and dab where most average enduro bike riders might drop the bike from not being able to get a foot down etc. Granted the CRF like any bike is not perfect and it’s low ground clearance is it’s main shortcoming. I have only ridden one lane where I met an obstacle which my ktm would have not even have noticed, but which stopped the CRF dead. Easily overcome by my fellow rider and I lifting the bike over the obstacle, and we were off riding again. I have to say that in my experience for south and mid wales lanes, which some people would regard as the perhaps some of the best and trickiest in the country, the CRF is almost the perfect bike. Plus you don’t need a trailer or van to ride 20 miles to a meet location as you can ride the CRF there. In a nutshell I used to spend my rides on the ktm’s never feeling comfortable because I spent the whole day wondering if/ when it would break down (and it often did). Whereas now I am way more relaxed and enjoy rides more because I know the good old Honda will not let me down and if i ride it somewhere beyond it’s limit, I can just turn around and go back.

    • @JohnSmith-ep2hh
      @JohnSmith-ep2hh 2 года назад +1

      Oh and I should probably say, my CRF is heavily modified (rear shock, fork springs, adventure spec parts, heated grips, etc etc) so in fairness what I say above would not apply to a factory stock CRF as they do need modifying to get them to that point.

    • @iangriffiths9930
      @iangriffiths9930 2 года назад

      I agree with all those comments 100% but the point I was trying to make was that it’s far easier to ride an enduro bike than the CRF off road. I’m not saying enduro bike is better or worse but for me when I’ve had the chance to try out a full on competition enduro bike it was so much easier! I wouldn’t swap my crf though 🙂

    Fun times, that looked mega. You could definitely see that rear shock struggling to damp the extra weight, not completely out of control pogo stick but enough to hurt your momentum I imagine.
    How do you find the tracker front, I'm tossing up between the 100/80 and the 90/90 for riding like this. Have been using goldentyre Fatty's but I'm always looking over the fence to see what everyone else is using.

    • @BrakeMagazine
      @BrakeMagazine  2 года назад

      I think the Trackers are bloody awesome for the money. They seem to last super well as well.
      I think for most riding the 90/90 is a better fit 🤔

    Wow I just found your channel today, love the tips and tricks but this video was great aswell! The idea of doing a trip to the UK with the bike came up when I watched your videos, and this one definitely moved the UK more to the top.
    A question for you but also anyone else, just want some opinions for what tent to get (Just have a heavy 2P tent and a superlight tarp system, I don't really like it though)
    What tents do you guys have or recommend? Also, freestanding or non-freestanding (but lighter/more compact)?

    • @BrakeMagazine
      @BrakeMagazine  4 месяца назад

      I would not use a tarp in the UK. It's often windy cold and exposed. I have tried and it sucks.
      Any smallish, light two person tent will do. I generally think free-standing is better, but in the UK, the ground is soft and camping is easy to get your pegs in.

    You should do a video about those additives you used. How long oil change intervald did you do on that trip?

    • @BrakeMagazine
      @BrakeMagazine  2 года назад +1

      Pretty normal interval still. Around 15-17 hours between the change. The additive won't really make it last longer I don't think.

    Great vlog👍👍I currently ride a 690 for TET riding and such like. Toying with the idea of swapping to a lighter option. 350/500.
    Definitely more fun on the trails, less fatigue. Better for uk riding in my opinion?

    • @nyedavis922
      @nyedavis922 2 года назад

      Wales, Cornwall, Lake District and a few parts of Yorkshire yeah definitely. Everywhere else the 690 is probably a better compromise based on the amount of roadwork on the TET
      -my opinion only as someone who owns an exc350 and wr250r. In the aforementioned places I'd take the exc, everywhere else I take the softer, comfier, better mannered WR

    Somehow I’ve only just seen this. Cracking work Llel, you and the old man are pretty talented riders eh? I also appreciate the gate opening shot - that’s a must when in Wales.

      Glad you enjoyed it! I dunno about that but we get around alright. Ain't no Graham Jarvis!
      The gates ruin me man. Horrendous. For the GoPro audio I use a Drift microphone. I velcro/stuff it inside the helmet by the cheek pad. Use the little stupid GoPro audio box velcro'd to the outside of the helmet. Works decent enough.

    • @OllieMoto

      @@BrakeMagazine Yeah man, solo would be a gate nightmare. Always ride with a mate! Haha, there's not enough sheds for two of Jarvis...
      Thanks buddy, although I was hoping you'd say you had a better solution than that 'cause I also find that audio box a PITA. DM'd you on insta too buddy 👍🏻
