Danaher is a genius he is just on another level in terms of his understanding of no-gi submission grappling
stephen ruby He does have a sick leglock system, no doubt about that.
Add Zahabi...you get GSP
Danaher has a very intimidating and cold demeanor about him. He approaches jj from a hyper-intellectual standpoint.
What does that even mean?
Maybe you haven't listened to more of his in depth long form interviews, but he actually comes across like a really respectful and nice guy.
Guy thought philosophy at college
@@oreocarlton3343 taught*
He seems warm and approachable to me ! Perhaps pedantic in demeanour, but still.
I’ve met Gordon Ryan. He showed up 30 mins late to the seminar and it cost 160. He was also an ass. Good techniques though great learning.
yeah, he was 22 and at the top of the game, hard not to be arrogant
Sounds pretty fake
Andre Galvao is that you?
This is the evolution of BJJ, you can either try and learn it or be left behind. Many parallels to MMA and how it has evolved, some Fighters are left in the dust others evolve with the sport.
Its because jiu-jitsu it's a young sport with a ruleset with maby options. So he's actually taking form. You can win with old techniques(refined by the time), but you just can win with then if you know how to defend the new techniques or systems.
Just see Roger. He's much close of Renzo and knows well Danaher and hes students. But he never used these recent systems, but he knew well how to defend
I don't think I've ever seen anyone as good at rolling for leg locks as Garry Tonon. I think the lack of leg locks in most sport Jiu Jitsu Tournaments has held the sport back. Just my opinion.
itheuser First What do you mean Bjj players are the only ones who use them? Leg locks are MUCH more prominent in both Catch wrestling and Sambo. Aside from that leg locks are frowned upon by many bjj schools and many tournaments dont even allow leg lock positions much less an actual attempt at a leg lock.
itheuser First argue with Ricky Lundell www.bjjee.com/interview/pedro-sauer-black-belt-ricky-lundell-jiu-jitsu-players-are-white-belts-at-leglocks/
itheuser First In response to position before submission I agree with you and the death squad has proven 50/50 position can be as controlling as anything else. On top of that I've had two shoulder surgeries and will likely never fully recover because of a Kimura. EVERY joint is easy to pop with the proper alavanca. I never said young or new students should focus on leg locks just that I believe they should be incorporated more into the overall game.
In sambo and catch as catch can wrestling leg logs are also really used a lot, not only BJJ players...
itheuser First classic case of inserting foot in mouth. Know your subject before speaking my friend.
Such a well-made highlight, I still come back and check this out six years later

you win the comments section. hahah. gold comment here.
The Danaher Details Are On Another Level. I love every bit of it. 🤙👊🏻👍🏻💪🙏
A lot jiu jitsu school never really focus on leg locks so this guy's who mastered definitely have advantage but the game is always evolving ...
and they all let go as soon as they feel the tap. respect
42 yrs old and just started bjj 4 months ago..like we all say after day 1, should have done it 10 yrs ago..
Those heel hooks... I was lucky cuz my professor has a leg fetish, can’t throw them a whole lot but happy I’ve been defending them the last 12yrs. These guys are on another level
i avoided training leglocks for a long time but in the last 6 months or so i have learned them, it started when i watched a catch wrestler knee bar an opponent and literally snap his leg, it occurred to me that if i ever got into a street situation it might be a useful thing to know i now know that should i find myself in the right position and i will endevour to make it the right position the guy is going to get a broken leg very quickly, unless you train leg locks your only half a fighter
Those poor knees...
"Because getting people to act against their own self interest is what I do for a living."
what the fuck does that even mean?
@@carloscoronado1747 he forces people to make mistakes. Narrowing the decision funnel
If I'm not mistaken that is a quote from the DC movie Deathsquad.
The intro killed me LMAO
So much intent in their game. No fluff.
J you don’t have to be young to train,go start and you will see peace out
The issue with the heel hooks are each one is a knee injury of some sort for the competitors don't believe me you can pull up the stats. It's a super high level of injury.
It’s their responsibility to tap
I imagine a BJJ army in the middle ages. 2 legions standing across from each other and charging to attack. Suddenly the 2 walls of soldiers collapse onto the ground and twist into eachother like froglegs in a skillet.
What the fuck
What I like bout Danaher is that he is talked bout with such reverence but has never won a title. I Still respect his teachings.
Big Gord cheering on his kids will never get old
Garry tonon is such a killer... he doesnt make grappling boring
If I had to choose 3 grappling based trainers it would have to be be Danaher, Damien Maia and Dean Lister
I enjoyed that, thank you.
Thanks for video love the Death Team
They are like spiders.
I love the respect for the opponent behind this sport.
Good Highlight! Motivational! Oss
Gordon Ryan's transitions are insane
On another note this video is sick!!!
Sick Video man!!!
Most dangerous team out there... They changed jj for ever and made everyone to study all over again their game
Some serious guys to roll with👊👊
Fucking beautiful.
You gonna make a second part highlights!?
nicky ryan is gonna take over the game
Death squad by name Death squad by nature. What a bunch of assassins!!!
sick video !
Danaher death squad is basically like the AKA of mix martial arts..
AKA only has one champion, and he learned 99% of what he uses in Dagestan
I myself would never enter any competition where leg locks were legal unless this were my profession. If you have a normal job this could literally ruin your ability to provide for yourself/ family. The rest of the grappling world will eventually catch up though and it will lose its advantage.. I wince every time I see it though. These guys are animals though.
So can any other submission. Leg locks are no more dangerous than other joint locks if you tap in time.
Your right but for me its the heel hook is the big problem they need to be illegal its the only submission that does not have a pain indication until its too late
EXACTLY THIS.
You must be an IBJJF gi competitor. Perfect Gracie mentality: if I can't beat it, then make it an illegal move!
Not being able to use an arm is much easier to live with than never being able to walk again. I've worked with carpenters who have limited use of one hand, but never one in a wheelchair. I can pour concrete with one arm, but not in a wheelchair. Walking is more important than having the use of both arms.
the best jiujitsu practicioners
You forgot John Calastine he's also an EBI champion and a member of the squad
He's in there for a second at the beginning of the video..he's pretty much the main focus on my other EBI video too, but he had a falling out with Danaher and the Death Squad, so did Eddie though
how beautiful is that at 1:11 !!!
Land of leg locks
ever heard of the warrior gene ? that's the juice the fellas have. Monoamine oxidase A fresh please !
Awesome sqaud
Chills
big gord at 6:21
Best part. Get that man a yogurt
Kron Gracie, Felipe Pena, Paulo Miyao
Wow these guys are sick
I wish I could train with these guys
THEM HEELS, MAN! 😱😱😱
5:43 jeez
I wana see Eddie Bravo roll with these cats
They shoud call themselfs " feed lovers " instead of death spuad
They're good. With my help, they could be the best.
😂😂😂😂
Nicky Ryan looks like a young Wonderboy Thompson.
one word Dammm
Still waiting on Tonnen to compete in the world of MMA. With his BJJ in addition to his D1 wrestling pedigree, he would be an absolute monster.
Yea, he'd be pretty good :-)
the lack of nut shots has really held mma back
En P ruclips.net/video/RH3ATdFWhXw/видео.html
imagine how much more awesome the ryan boys could be if they left danaher death squad ( ridiculous name by the way, right up there with a fighter calling himself pitbull) and went over to someone like Garcia.
Why would they leave Danaher? The squad has a very distinct leglock game. And Further, Danaher studied under renzo Gracie who approves the approaches of Danaher.
Sicko mode
I am very new to BJJ. Are they this good with the gi?
Give me the under or over rated on Keenan cornelius
Fuck I wish I was able to train there on a daily basis
Ya think Keenan would have had a better chance if he followed the same "Diet" as Gordiod Riodon?
Was that Jake Shields at the 0:32 mark?!
Laurence A yes
Where is the intro audio from ?
Suicide Squad ruclips.net/video/WI3hecGO_04/видео.html

Music please ... Need the name
Daniel Petty emoteBEATZ, check the description for his links
Not him but his links have like 100 different songs. I already listened to a lot of them and still can't find the song... can you please just post the name at least?
Nevermind, just found it.
eric swag what is it called?
This is not a complete grappling without suplexs and slams .
Is gordon ryan and nicky ryan brothers??
Yes
Still better movie than Suicide Squad.
Why would you ignore 50% of the human body?
ibjjf?
Yo fuck that! Put me in any choke! I'd happily go to slp. But u attack my legs.. if a bug crawled up my leg I would be tapping! I like walking better
is it true Eddie is not part of the team anymore?
MBP MAVIC idk, I seen someone posted this video on /r/BJJ and one of the comments was that Eddie left the Squad...
Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks, Heel Hooks ......
grappling is deadly but striking is the best , striking is the real war
King Bry ruclips.net/video/Ln13ZHfgq2o/видео.html
hahaha, haha
Heel hooks are lethal and too dangerous for sport. As Jui Jitsu practitioners we should be proficient in them for self-defense. But in the dojo for live sparring or sport.. I do not agree. Training and sport are not worth serious knee injuries..
Tyrone Lacy watch the John Danaher episode of Joe Rogan. He has a very compelling argument as to why leg locks are in no way more dangerous than an arm lock.
I'd take the Firas Zahabi approach to leg locks in the dojo, work for the position but don't put any pressure on when you get the heel hook ready. Then proceed to roll as if you lost the lock. This way you keep the knees safe still, get your leg lock practice and get ready for contingencies when trying to play the leg lock game in high level competition or self defence.
Danaher's favorite rash guards and more at: www.dokebicombat.com
If you're selling the one he wore on the Joe Rogan Podcast... I don't want it.
Damn, gone are the days of dominating an opponent through position and crushing them. Now it's just leg locks. Gay.
2 armbars, 1 triangle, 4 RNC and 10000 heel hooks in 7min thats not so much versatility
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."
Their opponents know it’s coming, but they can’t stop it. That’s brilliant
Who cares?
wrybread ok bruce lee
as i read this gordon guillotines Kennan arguably the goat... who cares sub is sub if this was death match they'd rip an ankle off
Heel hooks are too scsry, fuck thst, id rather not be out of it for a year
Heel hook after heel hook SMFH ,it's like the rules are who can heel hook who first , boring!
Robert Fonseca yeah watching people stare at the ref to make sure he got his points is waaaay better
knockout after knockout, ever more boring..
Robert Fonseca you are showing your intelligence.......none
I think only the BJJ community would find it interesting...but for the average fan...I think it would put them to sleep. The legs are half the body...crazy that so many guys at your average McDojo never learn to leg lock or knee bar...and when you catch it in the middle of the match....it's entertaining. But going right to butt scoot position and sitting there playing footsies with the other guy for an entire match is extremely boring to watch. Is it high level shit...of course it is...is it boring to watch...it surely can be.
