      To most people, yes it seems insane but they must have known something others don't because look where are all at now...
      That's the type of drive and purpose most people don't have IMO (including myself).

    • @smeff099
      @smeff099 Год назад +27

      @@Nixcb2 he's dedicated to a fault. Nicky is highly developed in the grappling IQ, but not so much in the longevity aspect.
      That or he's flat broke and actually doesn't have the money to pay for the surgery (which has to be at least 4-5k)

    • @healthwealth651
      @healthwealth651 Год назад +24

      @@Synthetic-Rabbit That’s irrelevant. No matter who you are education is important. He still needs to develop reading and writing skills, and you can’t do that as a dropout. Let’s say Nicky wants to write his own Jiu-Jitsu book, he can’t do that with less than a 9th grade writing ability.
      Learning is a lifelong endeavor, that’s why people like Kevin Garnett took college classes after signing a $126 million contract.

    When Nicky Ryan started talking about everything you can really tell just by the way Craig and Nicky Rod was looking at Nicky Ryan that they really look upon him as a younger brother. Getting the sense that Nicky Ryan has more then just 1 older brother here, which is beautiful.

Kurtz in the Film ‘Apocalypse Now’ was a colonel who went AWOL through PTSD & left the U.S. Military to start his own small army, formed of local, indigenous villagers and tribesmen. He goes on his own war, but his tribe doesn’t really side with the U.S. military or Vietcong. Basically he’s a nutcase broken by the evil actions made by the U.S. military and Vietcong respectively and decides himself to go on a rampage killing and torturing people against his tribe. Despite what I’m telling you; the film isn’t actually really about the Vietnam war at all and is more to do with good vs evil, genius vs insanity, it’s really worth a watch. Loosely based on Joseph Conrad’s heart of darkness but sent during the Vietnam war.

John alone could be a lot to blame for not being able to adapt his management style for different personalities. For people like Gordon and Meregali, who are both perfectionists and incredibly confident, John’s style is probably perfect. However, it’s not a one size fits all. Not everyone has bags of confidence and high self esteem. Some people need to be encouraged, some need to be humbled.

      @Kodiak Combat Collective are saying that B Team has increased Danaher’s rate of innovation? Maybe that was a typo in your comment. Either way, Danaher’s innovation is to leapfrog people’s training to reach a goal. Case in point, Bodoni and Meregali. Their quick improvement is in direct correlation to the way Danaher teaches. That is something I’m not seeing from the B team guys. Danaher said it himself that B team is still using his system so they don’t really need him, BUT they aren’t getting any new information from him, coaching, tactics, etc. So, I disagree with your opinion of my comment being myopic.
      And Danaher isn’t an infallible god…but currently he is the best Jiujitsu coach of this era. I doubt that can be disputed.

    Netflix needs to make a deal with BTeam and have their own weekly show... just have a camera man following them around everyday.... and edit that for an episode each week, it would do mad well with that group of guys, they are all characters... all lead by the 2nd best bjj coach in the world...

    I’m late to the party, but here’s my guess about what happened.
    If Gordon is even half as cocky on the training mats as he his on social media, he probably couldn’t handle Nicky Ryan getting good and stealing some of his thunder. He was so desperate to be the best that he was willing to shit on his own brother in the process. It’s cool that he won ADCC 3x in a row, but it’s truly unfortunate that his own brother wasn’t there to cheer him on. My brother and I are the same age gap as Nicky and Gordon, and I’d be devastated if my brother wasn’t in my corner.
    Gordon Ryan strikes me as someone who is financially successful, but it ends there.
