I totally don't blame you. As fire emblem is a strategic game it sometimes feels like you're not allowed to make mistakes, which is stupid. Especially in countdown pvp matches it's all about mistakes and gaining momentum from them. When you think about it, I was the one making a mistake first. In the turn prior to that I should have never placed palla back inside the box so soon. I should have double-tapped hector first, this way you couldn't have repoed alm into that for me dangerous spot as palla would still threaten it, and I could have probably stalled you out. If we don't allow ourselves mistakes we might as well let the ai play the matches 😂
@@Eldervi That's what makes the game more intense. In a chess game, there are some crazy moves from us people that even computers or AI didn't think of that win the game. Which is why mistakes can also lead to unexpected results or a surprising move that blunders, but leads to win a game.

After going 3-0 in my group I really felt fine with any outcome, if I would get countered right in my very first two matches I would still get to show this crazy team, so whatever. My mind was fine. But my body was not. I have never felt that sick before, which is crazy. Even today I get nervous by watching the VOD. this is so stupid xDDD
this was such a smart strategy that no one was expecting! I'm looking back now and wondering if I should have been more aggressive with my units earlier on? I had panic smoke on Summer Caeda, so I could have suicded her into Palla to get rid of your buffs, and that probably would have shut palla down... at least for one turn XD
In all honesty, I think there was nothing you could have done. I think Caeda's debuffs don't go down if she doesn't get to attack (getting vantaged). This is why also Nifl couldn't have done anything with her Flash, you would have needed to hit one of my backliners while Palla is in range. And while I couldn't kill Hector in round 1, he dealt 0x2 damage when you checked his damage in round 2, so even with his bonfire I don't think he could have killed her. I actually ran into a lot of Hectors during testing, some of which I could indeed not kill, but they couldn't kill me either. my team was really nasty.

yes, LOVED the mindgames vs. PM1. This match was so unique, cause we both knew that it came down to a single unit in our teams, compared to other matches where you just constantly trade. Both of us knew that the match was over once that unit fell, and kinda sacrificied all of our other units trying to literally snatch the queen.

Its very assuring to see someone say that all the captain skills have merit since most people write off adroid captain. You definitely played very impressively all tournament.
Ngl the matches are intense where you really need to think carefully on what move you'll take. And I'm glad IS put this mode into the game. I have so much fun playing this mode where any unit can shine to the very top like a chess game with 2 Grandmasters playing against each other, predicting the enemy's moves and making excellent, interesting and surprising moves. FEH may be a gacha game, but overall it's a chess game. That's what I like about this game.
Yes, the mode is great, and the best thing about it is... It's CASUAL! No tiers, no ranking boards, there are no downsides for losing. You can really enjoy it for what it is
The only downside is going against whale cav teams that camp their side and wait for you to attack them with a near save unit. I like using fun teams. But was stuck with one as it reset my favor otherwise. If yall like this I'd recommend 40k or age of sigmar. Plays similarly in the casual mode. And they are starting to care about competitive as well. Going from 1 army dominating the meta to now 2 or 3. Huge improvement

Vantage builds are definitely still viable, I've run into more than a few Vantage Eldigans and none of my units could've touched them since I didn't run any windsweep units
I ran into this setup a few times during my favor grind matches, after being demolished twice because there was nothing I could do, I gave B!Eliwood good ol' windsweep lol. However, even with a counter this is a tough match since if Eliwood does die, the match is over. Awesome matches!
I thought I was the only one using Vantage in SD with W!Bernadetta. Surprising. My vantage choice was L!Micaiah but as counterpick is easy (Harmonic Leif, Eitri, F!Edelgard) I have to, sometimes, trigger ardent sacrifice twice using a dancer in one single turn so as to prepare Desperation for player phasing. Micaiah has the advantage of being a mage, so she has better killing potential, but also she can avoid windsweep effects like B!Alm for instance. Other picks I have in mind are W!Altina and Altina, since I refuse to use duo, it's only Altina, but I need an insurance for securing kills, in the form of a secondary tank or AOE, as sometimes +10 strong merge projects on the enemy team might ruin the strat if I rely on one single unit. It makes matches less dependent on luck factor.
@@Eldervi yes Blue Micaiah has trouble against some meta unit. Legendary is interesting due to the desperation effect. I have Palla also but i wasn't confident vs Hector and i refuse to trait fruit just for this mode. Most of those i have seen are super high invested with summoner support. Legendary Micaiah has no color disadvantage so that's the big advantage here. Anyway good thing that you win. Interesting methods should be rewarded. Lame ones punished. For the sake of this game and the memory it brings, this is the best and logical outcome here.
Was rooting for you the second I saw your team in the first match XD. Sadly couldn't watch the last games vs. Soda and PM1 but I was there for a good 7 hours. Great comtent as always and very impressive plays. Fortunately I run a far-save Catria Ball including a Windsweep Nifl as my main team so I'm prepared to fight similar strats should I match against one.

Very interesting take on an old Strat. Nicely done. I should be fine if I encounter this Strat in the future, my windsweep ascended Laegjarn will make short work of any palla with her built in NFU, bonus stat copying and dead eye. Alongside bride Catria for countering river shenanigans and Bector to keep her safe from any fast paced teams and chetony for that sweet double refresh, the last spot is a flex spot, and still deciding if I want to go with Yuri for more of those positioning shenanigans or someone like Hector for faster deadeye or even a back up option outside of Catria and Laegjarn in someone like brave alm or something.
This was so fun to watch. If yall want to try this strat on a budget, Altina with her damage-reduction-ignoring Twin Blades special can be fun. Not quite as viable but similarly fun!

I actually run into a vantage palla team a while back, probably thanks to you, lmao. My opponent's palla wasn't well-supported like yours and I was able to take her out with my own palla with some support to make her survive that vantage ladyblade
that's the thing. People think Hardy Bearing or Windsweep will save them, but Palla has huge defenses. I've tanked hardy bearings, windsweeps and dazzlings staffs like a champ. It literally takes a melee Windsweep+NFU attack, and not many units have that.

the best tired player won that day, despite attempting to sleep i only managed to get about 30 mins. anyways, one thing i've learned about my style is that I get super sloppy when Im unable to adapt to whats happening, I never thought most of my moves through near the end and i paid for it in spades next time Im taking the gold, better watch out.

This is incredible! I actually don't play summoner duels that much cuz I like more Galeforce chains than anything else and that's hard to pull off there, but oh man, this is surely something that makes me wanna play it running my favorites too, just as my silvia (which I heavily invested for a galeforce comp on AR-O) and some mixed stuff, maybe once I get my Forma Flora I'll do it
well, for that I can only say... check the damage of all these units trying to go into combat against my Palla.Wit Hardy Bearing your unit has to kill with a single attack, otherwise my double strike will follow... and I don't see too many units who were capable of doing that :)

I tried a similar thing with brave alm. I attempted to get him into vantage range with winter Bernie, support him with a far save unit, and have him punch a hole in the enemy team with growing wind. Ths idea was vantage would always kill if after the aoe special damage. The set up was a bit too awkward tho.
So I took this team qnd have made it my AR-Astra set up, right now the week of this comment Thorr is the bonus unit so she gets the full Bonus doubler boost by 1 Atk point higher, also why Thorr, because of her C skill acting as a Drive Breath carge. A Budget Alternative to Rupsky is Reprisal, especially if you can get Palla to 1 HP. 30% of loss HP might be a whole lot, but even then. Is 20% of foes attack always worth more then New Moon, or even Glimmer?
I wonder... what about Summer Freya? Could she technically live? She'd eat up those buffs and make them her own, with a 40% DR and NFU. But sheesh, 13 Damage with Claude looks dangerous...
nope, no chance. Ruptured sky literally devours all the dragons and beasts. the only dragon I ever had problems with was Harmonic Myrrh, but only max merged and well built

I think its not. Even with Alm survive 1 hit from Azura, he will get killed by Hector after he kill Palla. Then Sigurd and Ash cannot deal with Hector.
Yeah, I think killing hector was the move, but to be fair, he could only do that cause I messed up before. I should have double tapped hector in the prior turn first before moving palla back inside the box, with that I would have never allowed alm to take that very dangerous spot. We both made mistakes
yes, def/res rein would surely be better, but to be honest... given that she has a rein already, I would never do that kind of investment, it's just not worth it. Then I would have rather run Even or Odd Tempest for more pressure. Or Astrid/Anette (who I both don't have) in order to not lose a turn while giving Palla 3 movement. You literally don't even need a dancer

I actually don't think that would counter Palla. Especially with ruptured sky, that deals extra damage to dragons. There is no way Kana survives a double attack. Simulator says he'll eat 20+40 damage, and I even gave him full buffs for you. Bector, Dimitri and the other blues actually won't as well, not as long as I have ruptured sky

As a chess player I really enjoyed the tactical aspect of your games and the little traps/gambits in the match vs Pm1.

This whole video really shows how cool and deep summoner duels can go. I think there's a lot more to uncover as far as potential in units and teams.

I actually don't play summoner duels that much cuz I like more Galeforce chains than anything else and that's hard to pull off there, but oh man, this is surely something that makes me wanna play it running my favorites too, just as my silvia (which I heavily invested for a galeforce comp on AR-O) and some mixed stuff, maybe once I get my Forma Flora I'll do it

well, for that I can only say... check the damage of all these units trying to go into combat against my Palla.Wit Hardy Bearing your unit has to kill with a single attack, otherwise my double strike will follow... and I don't see too many units who were capable of doing that :)
I sadly wasn't there to watch the tournament live, but this watching this video definitely made me feel like I was on the edge of my seat lololol
That final match was SO intense! I tried making something similar with my Ninja Laevatein, lulls can be such a hindrance, not to mention the lack of canto and adaptive damage make a huge difference TwT

I am glad that you made this video. I am still wondering how my Berkut would have faired with guard and his lul refine lol. If I may say one thing about the video editing: It was amazing when you turned ghasts audio on but it got sometimes a bit much with his and your bgm playing in the same time.

I tried a similar thing with brave alm. I attempted to get him into vantage range with winter Bernie, support him with a far save unit, and have him punch a hole in the enemy team with growing wind. Ths idea was vantage would always kill if after the aoe special damage. The set up was a bit too awkward tho.
So I took this team qnd have made it my AR-Astra set up, right now the week of this comment Thorr is the bonus unit so she gets the full Bonus doubler boost by 1 Atk point higher, also why Thorr, because of her C skill acting as a Drive Breath carge. A Budget Alternative to Rupsky is Reprisal, especially if you can get Palla to 1 HP. 30% of loss HP might be a whole lot, but even then. Is 20% of foes attack always worth more then New Moon, or even Glimmer?
I wonder... what about Summer Freya? Could she technically live? She'd eat up those buffs and make them her own, with a 40% DR and NFU.
But sheesh, 13 Damage with Claude looks dangerous...
nope, no chance. Ruptured sky literally devours all the dragons and beasts. the only dragon I ever had problems with was Harmonic Myrrh, but only max merged and well built

I think its not. Even with Alm survive 1 hit from Azura, he will get killed by Hector after he kill Palla.
Then Sigurd and Ash cannot deal with Hector.
Yeah, I think killing hector was the move, but to be fair, he could only do that cause I messed up before. I should have double tapped hector in the prior turn first before moving palla back inside the box, with that I would have never allowed alm to take that very dangerous spot. We both made mistakes

yes, def/res rein would surely be better, but to be honest... given that she has a rein already, I would never do that kind of investment, it's just not worth it. Then I would have rather run Even or Odd Tempest for more pressure. Or Astrid/Anette (who I both don't have) in order to not lose a turn while giving Palla 3 movement. You literally don't even need a dancer

Am I a bad person for admitting here that I actively rooted against you because of how broken your Palla was? I watched the stream basically all day, and it was honestly insane watching so many players just fall apart once Palla got going. Poor Promise especially...
Well, that's kinda funny, cause if you think about it, I was actually the underdog entering the tournament without a single meta unit 😆 I just had a really good idea which noone had seen before 😂 but I don't blame you rooting for your favorites, it's all good 👍😊
@@Eldervi Funny you mention that, because just a couple of matches in, I felt anyone facing you, especially PM1, was the underdog because no one had a risk-free, surefire counter to that Palla.

That's W!Bernadetta's weapon Hrist which has the following "At start of turn, if unit's HP = 100% and unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, deals 1 damage to unit and allies within 2 spaces of unit."

I actually don't think that would counter Palla. Especially with ruptured sky, that deals extra damage to dragons. There is no way Kana survives a double attack. Simulator says he'll eat 20+40 damage, and I even gave him full buffs for you. Bector, Dimitri and the other blues actually won't as well, not as long as I have ruptured sky
