Hi y’all 👋 Happy day 355. Wow! Only 10 days left. It’s so weird that this is almost over; it has a kind of unreality to it. I’m going to miss y’all so much. 😢🙏❤️
I am sad that this is coming to a close. What a beautiful journey it has been. Thank you again Fr Mike and crew for these inspiring and fulfilling podcasts. They have enriched my life.
Truly the most perfect of prayers and the summary of the whole Gospel. Trust in our loving Father means to receive the gifts and crosses with gratitude and love. This prayer is meant to transform our lives. It's the proper prayer of the end times which will be fulfilled with the Lord's return in glory. We eagerly await the Lord's return according to his promise - but in patience and expectation while continuing to pray the Lord's Prayer. ❤🙏 ❤ 🙏
Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 12/21/2023.
Father Mike, what a wonderful journey this has been. Thank You for the work you and your team have done, in order that we can learn and transform our lives. We Thank God for our Catholic Church and the many that have dedicated so much throughout the ages. Thank You Father in Heaven - We give you all the Praise and Glory.
I've been a Catholic all of my life. Raised Catholic, eight years of Catholic grammar school, three years of Catholic highschool and I don't recall learning HALF of what I learned over the past 355 days. Because of this program, I had my first reconciliation in almost 45 years. I started praying the rosary daily. I'm trying to read my Bible regularly (BIY is my next project!). To say I'm grateful seems inadequate, but I am. ❤️🙏❤️
Thank you Fr Mike for ending the day in a good note. It has been a 355 days of faithfilled and prayerful night that we wouldn't miss for the world. I thank God for blessing us a priest like you who wants to help all of us to go to heaven. May God give you another mission to spread the Gospel all over the world. To God be the glory. Amen.
Thank you Father Mike- wow just 10 days left what a fabulous spiritual journey this has been. I have notes all through this Catechism Book I plan to review them all next year- I have been a cradle Catholic but had never read the Catechism before this year going through it with you and all listening to this podcast. I will be 70 years old in a few more months thank you for this blessed gift- God bless you and all the listeners.
Note: Today is the Feast of St Peter Canisius 1597, who was a Dutch Jesuit Priest and Doctor of the Church whose several catechisms were translated into 12! Languages. Catholic Vote said that he wrote the first Catechism. Thank you Ascension Press and Father Schmitz for all your hard work this year, especially for Father Mike Schmitz and those who are on this incredible journey of faith! ❤
The Our Father presents in the form of prayer, the essential content of the Gospel, taught to us by the Lord Jesus himself. It is important that we trust the Lord even in the midst of our burdens. Lord , transform my heart as I live in patience and expectation till you return 🙏
An awesome nugget day that is indeed among the shortest but an important one. It shows the identity of God as the loving Father and not a tyrant. It also shows how our approach should be. It should be that of trust and love. The part about Jesus coming to us is indeed a difficult to wait for but trusting in our Savior's ability to give us an eternal life makes it believable. Thank you so much, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless
Yes, thank you and thanking our loving GOD, Prayers for HIS BLESSINGS on, in,and for each of us, HE knows and wants the altimate best for each of us , 🙏 that is what I Pray HIS WILL, like our Mother Mary says , may it be done unto me.We don't know what tomorrow or even what today holds for us , but HE does and so help us LORD to meet each day in confidence and YOUR GIFT of Peace . Thank you Father Mike, Numbers 6:24-26, thank you for choosing to be a Priest, Prayers for all Priests, Bishops , all Religious and our Pope, Into GOD'S Loving HANDS , let's place them all 🙏
@rubymarple7156 Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment, Ruby. I agree with you. It's a blessing to have all of us here and to have Fr. Mike to help us learn this. May all of us stay protected, full of wisdom and blessed by God. God bless you
Fr Mike has hit 136,000 subscribers as of today, Dec 21, 2023. He hit 135,000 subscribers on Dec 4, 2023. The year is almost over and people are still finding the Catechism in a Year. God bless all of you. I am praying for all of you at 630AM daily mass. Please pray for me.
Greetings! CIY community greetings!! Here in episode 355, we understand that the Lord's Prayer is the master and model of our central prayer, and it contains the entire Gospel. It is the proper eschatological prayer of the end time, the time of salvation. We pray the Lord's Prayer, with inner conversion of our heart (ethos) with trust, humility, and perseverance. By Baptism we are adopted children of our Father, whom we could trust him in our desolation, suffering, and in our burdens. Let's thank everyone and pray for all those to whom we promised to pray. Amen!
Have you had your grandchildren take your hand to lead you someplace? Have you taught toddlers in Sunday School, when you get on the floor with them. I think of God a lot of times like that, but have many bad days. I always have thought of grace as God bending down to us.
Today's BIAY verse: If you do not work, you do not eat. Today's CIAY message: If you do not pray, you do not live. Working is nourishing, prayer is lifegiving. Prayer is lifegiving, working is nourishing.

Day 355 ☕🫖🧁🍩🎉🎊 Just ten days left. Today Thursday December 21st, 2023 it is only ten days left of the CYI and the year #2023 #2024 is ten days away from us. O Lord God, please, please, please help me to be patient, humble, holy. I have been praying for patience b/c I am very impatient. In Yeshua / Iesu / Jesus Name I pray. Amen. Viva Cristo Rey. Deo gratia.
December 21, 2023 Hello! When the Catechism is complete (or maybe even now), consider listening to Saint Faustina’s Diary in a year and/or EWTN Mother Angelica’s Classics to add to your Catholic learning! Oh my goodness so much life guidance in conjunction with Father Mike’s Bible and Catechism in a Year!
December 21, 2023 Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
4:41 God is not a tyrant. God is the Father. God is not a dictator. God is a Dad. And He's a good father. He's not absent or cruel. We can approach our good Dad with trust. Trust, along with humility and perseverance, trust is going to make all the difference in the world. If we don't trust God, we will be suspicious of even His blessings. If we can trust that He is not only the Lord, but He is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by adoption, He is your Dad, and my Dad, then we can receive His gift with gratitude and not suspicion. And we can even receive those crosses with gratitude and with love. And this is one of the fundamental things that is taught to us by Jesus when He gives us the Lord's prayer, and it's important to understand that that at the center of the Scriptures not only because of the petitions, not only because we reorder our heart, it's not just words external to us. If we just said the words, that's fine, we're saying good words, but that's not the point of it. The point is we have an inner conversion, our ethos, our inner world is drawn to what God loves and is repelled by what God hates. Ethos= the inner world of a person, that what draws our hearts and repels our hearts. Because of that, the Lord's prayer is meant to transform our hearts, because Jesus is the master and model of our prayer. 7:00 Eschatological nature of the Our Father. Eschatological= the end times 1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes. From this unshakeable faith springs forth the hope that sustains each of the seven petitions (the 7 petitions of the Our Father), which express the groanings of the present age, this time of patience and expectation during which "it does not yet appear what we shall be." The Eucharist and the Lord's Prayer look eagerly for the Lord's return, "until he comes." Right now, we're living in a time of patience and expectation. And so we continue to pray. We continue to have humility, loving perseverance, and maybe above all, trust, as we continue to pray the Lord's prayer. Things aren't as they will be one day, but they will be one day. And that's the expectation. And aren't now, and that's the patience. Hope you all have a light-filled peaceful Merry Christmas everyone. I'm praying for you, Fr. Mike, the Catechism in a Year production team, Ascension Presents, and every one here. Please pray for me. God bless you and yours!
In contrast to Islam where the prayerful must do many ablutions, such as Wudu and Ghusl, Christian prayer is a dialog with God which can be better prepared by fasting. Both are worship to God (Allah meaning God in Arabic) but the body movements and positions are important in Islam. Also in Judaism the body is used in Judaism by shuckling. When Jesus instituted the Lord's Prayer he made no mention of the need to do any of these bodily movements, positions or ablutions. When Jesus prayed He knelt with His eyes raised to heaven. Jesus did say where prayer needs to be done as in one's closet, inner room, barn or granery depending on the translation. I believe it to mean granary because this where the making of the Eucharist begins with the threshing of the wheat grains. I believe Jesus to be covertly teaching on prayer in the presence. Even in the prayer itself is the need to demand our daily bread which is the Eucharist. Jesus could have elaborated upon the meaning of the prayer but He kept it vague as in the past many left Him because He spoke, "My flesh is true food and My blood is true drink." True Christians make the distinction that the demand for our daily bread refers to the Eucharist. This demand has held and not been compromised by true believers over the past nearly 2000 years. It has only recently become corrupt by mainly the Protestants who have fallen upon this stumbling block; the Eucharist. They have twisted scripture to make the Eucharist merely a symbol not the true presence. They believe the mentioned daily bread to merely mean sustenance of food. I say you can go to war waving the countries flag, the symbol of one's nation but without real weaponry the enemy will prevail. So it is not with the Eucharist because it's true weaponry for it is Jesus Himself who will deliver us and not a mere symbol. What is our enemy? Sin and death are our enemies and Jesus crushed sin and death by His Cross and Glorious Resurrection. Only the faithful of the Eucharist are protected and strengthened by it because it is Jesus Himself; the Living Bread.
