  • During the rock 'n roll explosion of the fifties in the Northwest, many touring shows would avoid large metropolises like Seattle and Portland, and instead stop at smaller cities. Yakima was one of those cities, and as such, had a great local involvement. The Rumblers were one of the groups that prospered and they had a great rivalry with the Checkers. They also signed on with Jimmy Bowen, and during a tour through the Midwest they would record their only 45 at the historic Kay Bank Studios in Minneapolis. "Montazuma Rock" is an effort to duplicate the success of Johnny & The Hurricanes with a rocked out version of a familiar melody.

Thank you for posting this. My dad, Gene Boyd, is the one playing the lead guitar. He passed away 7 years ago and once in awhile I look on You Tube to hear their music. Both my mom and dad said they had a 45 record but lost it several years ago so I never had a chance to hear it until now. Thank you again for posting this. Brady Boyd
