This song brings tears to my heart but I love it so much!! My husband passed 8 years ago while waiting on a Heart Transplant. It feels like yesterday and a thousand years all at once. We would have just this year celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary.

My nephew fought, brain cancer it was gliomastomama brain cancer, a death sentence, I believe he was a very brave man he had a 4yr old and a wife and was with them as long as possible.

Its been a little over 2mos since my husband passed away and I pray I get through it but right now it doesnt seem like I will.. its still very fresh and I cant even begin to think of my life without him. I pray on it and I try to move on, but when I laugh I feel like I've betrayed him and crying all the time is not what he'd want me ro do. I survived Thanksgiving, but Christmas is already haunting me.. I hope I get through it, my granddaughter and my parents got me through Thanksgiving, but Christmas was our time.. picking out the perfect tree, watching him decorate it so beautifully and me putting the angel on top of it. I pray for all who are going thrpugh their 1st anything.. Christmas, Valentine's Day and of course 11 days after Valentine's Day wouldve been our 34th anniversary. so many 1st to go .. please God see us through.. Sept of 23 in the yr of 22 I lost my beautiful wife of 40yrs .having known her for 50yrs it has been the hardest thing I've had to endure thing .the ironic thing about it is that I went to pick up her awesome and I was informed that they wouldn't be ready for a few more days. On our way back home my friend and I stopped to have lunch.as we sat in the restaurant Willie's song comes on "its not something you get over but it's something you get through ". Now I had never heard this song before in my life. But even more coincidental my cell comes on and it's the cremation service telling me that they had made an error & and that my wife's ashes were ready for pick up after all .a sign from above? I don't know but it was so surreal.i guess my wife really wanted to wait any longer. She wanted to be home with me.and that's where she's at now I'm still going through this painfull journey that I'll never get over but I pray with the help ig God I'll get through. God bless you all.i consider you family in that we are all going through the pain of losing a loved one 😢🙏

The harmonica really adds to the sadness a person feels when they lose someone, very appropriate in this song. Willies softer voice sounds wonderful and adds the feeling to it, even more. Great sad song (if there is such a thing as a sad song, being great) , done by some terrific artists. I see that Willie is playing his guitar less, probably due to part of the aging process we all will face someday, however, Willie you still ROCK!!!

This is so true, my first love and was married for 25 yrs but had been together since we were just young teens, sadly he had the addiction to alcohol, and spent most of his life in prison he is out, and I remarried him twice, but the bottle always won. I miss the ole’ young at heart him. He has contacted me a few times when he got out the last time 3 yrs ago, but I had moved on and been married to my feller now for almost 35 yrs. He still has a big piece of my heart and always will, a space is there for just him. So yes a loss can be just heartache of a love gone, but still on earth.

Had lunch today with a friend. She told me she listens to this every night before she goes to bed. Last year she lost her husband of fifty years. I had to come home and listen to it. Beautiful. I lost my husband of 51 years ten years ago.. I miss him every day. He served his country for 30 years in the US Army - and I did too as his Army wife. Proud to serve and to be an American.
