I buried my Dad today. Tonight I play this, for a long time Willie Nelson fan. He would sing Always on my mind for his Dad's memory. Thank You Willie, for a heartfelt song I can remember my Daddy too. xx
@@normarey5335 Oh that sounds terribly heartbreaking of a loss. It's hard to lose one, I couldn't imagine three within a year. I hope you are doing well. Big hugs to you x
My husband passed away July of 2019 I was having a really hard time. He was only 57 I was sitting on the porch listening to some music my husband love country music. So of course I was listening to a lot of his songs that he used to listen to. And underneath one of the songs I was listening to popped up Just Breathe. I listen to this song and it really made me realize that you just don't tell people how much you love them or you don't realize how much you love them until they're gone. So I sit on the porch and I listen to this song all the time. And most of the time I'll start crying . I love Willie Nelson. Keep up the good work Willie

I found my love dead from a heart attack on May 1st. This song has been on repeat since... I cant thank you enough. He loved Willie, one of my many fondest memories with him was listening to Willie Nelson, smoking one up, and just enjoying eachothers company and forgetting the world together. He was a beautiful soul. And this song reminds me of going home to him after a hard day and him making me dinner and saying come sit on the couch with me, forget everything, and just breathe. Thank you. R.I.P. Marc Baldwin. This world couldn't handle someone so beautiful.
I often think of how painful all love inevitably ends up. And only a handful of people get that deep mutually connected timeless love and apreciation for each other till there twilight years. I can't imagine haveing that. And losing that person when your in the later years in life.. That would be horrible, and that's the best case scenario.. That's what we all search for in the quest for love. And we think we've had our hearts torn in half over betrayal, or neglect, or not having our love returned by the ones we loved. But all that painful heart ach really pales in comparison to getting and sharing a deep mutual love, then losing it.. I can't imagine it.. And I've loved and lost, and thought I was so broken but I now think about how that was still getting off so much easier then getting what we all hope for and losing it..
I'd say Willie is music, he just has to let it out and because its honest it resonates with us . And this is a beautiful video, damn , I've not heard harmonies so perfect apart from the Everlys . Stunning piece
I'm coming up on the three year anniversary of my dad's last breath. This song means a lot to me. You see, my dad was my best friend and we spent lots of time together talking about everything from sex to politics to gardening to him growing up during the great depression... and much more. I will always be grateful for our time together and everything he taught me about life.
amsterdam I worry about this, too. When there have been false reports he passed, I was shocked how deep my reaction was. I too will not be ready when it happens. Peace and love 💕
We saw willie Nelson at farm aid in 2019, he seemed so frail. His son seemed to keep his eyes on him and played as if he was covering for his Dad. You can see the love he has for his Dad♥️

My grandfather Bill Holford worked with Willie Nelson at the start of his recording career. He was a recording engineer who had started his own studio (ACA) in Houston in 1949. Willie made his very first recordings there in 1954 as a guitarist for Dave Isbell. Willie also assembled and led Isbell’s backing band for that session. Later, in 1960, Willie needed someone to make masters of his songs Nite Life and Rainy Day Blues, because Pappy Daily (owner of Willie’s label D Records) had rejected these songs, which Willie had recorded at Gold Star. Pappy didn’t think those songs were real country music! Willie took the recordings to Grandpa, and he made the masters for him. I’m so proud of my grandfather for a million reasons, but nothing makes me more proud than his involvement with Willie Nelson’s beginnings! Willie is the greatest! 💕
My mom told me to watch this video as she was in the final stages of her life. I tried my best to be there for her in the last year of her life. It wasn't perfect and I wasn't perfect, but I loved her and I continue to love her. I think she tried to tell me how much she loved me when she told me to watch to watch this video and listen to this song. I played this for her when she lay dying. I hope she knew how much I did love her. Guilt is an overwhelming thing and it's hard to see past it. You always feel like like you could have done more or could have done things differently. It's too late now. Love you 'till I die. Meet you on the other side.
I feel every word of what you said. The guilt is overwhelming at times. I wish I would've done more 😢 even though I know it was her time to go. Can't replace a mother's love ever! 🫂🫂
They say hearing is the last thing to go, so she likely registered the song and knew it was you. I always say do as much as you can for your parents , but know that no matter how much you do it will never be enough. We always feel like we could have should have done more. I am sure you did your best .
This is the most beautiful song I've heard. Hearing a father and son sing it together just makes it more beautiful. Love how he has 2 of his sons in this video. Great memories

Willie is known first for his guitar skills, 2nd song writing, he is not considered a great singer. But I’m glad you’re just now discovering a living legend.
I've loved this song from the moment I heard it. My Dad passed away Feb. 3, 2024 I put together a video for my family using Just Breathe, I couldn't have chosen a better song to go along with the photos of my Dad and my family. Thank you Willie for giving us the gift or your music and your heart.
One of my favourite things is to read the youtube comments on songs that I love so I can see how they've moved others. My birthday is Feb 3rd, and although I imagine that date carries sorrow - I feel honoured to share the date with your father. What a beautiful song to pay tribute to him with. Birth, life and loss can be so fickle and grief is not linear.

My dad loved Willie, and I secretly did too. Don't think I ever told him that. Anytime I hear his songs it reminds me of my dad, and I smile and cry at the same time. Love this song.
My Mama loved this song. She lost her battle with Cancer 1-9-2022 after two years of trying her best. We listened to this song the day before she passed and I will always love it and her. Her name was Rose and that is the name I gave to my youngest daughter ❤️
Sweet friend, my heart goes out to you. "Hold me 'til I die Meet you on the other side" holds a different power for you than it does for many of us. You did. She will. My love to you.
Rest in peace, Rose. You will live on forever by the uttering of your name with the bloom of every Spring, upon the lips of the unaware as they speak of something of beauty.

I’m only 15. I’ve never felt real loss until now. My Paw Paw recently passed due to pneumonia and organ failure. This time has been the hardest in my life. I can’t stop blaming myself for not spending enough time with him while he was here with us. He taught me so much and I wish I could have him back. God bless you and keep you in His arms as you grieve the loss of your Paw Paw. Willie is the perfect guy to listen to. Try the song, “something you get through”. 🥰
I'm 59 years old, my first loss was my own grandpa when I was 12 1/2. Like your Paw Paw, he taught me so much. I still think about him every now and then and am glad for the time I had with him. Take care of yourself my young friend and cherish the memories you have with him. Those will always be with you.

He was. Eddie phoned into a radio show that Willie was on, talked about how honored he was by the cover, and jokingly encouraged Willie to cover every Pearl Jam song.
That us so very cool. That Eddie Vedder did feel so honored . I heard Willie Nelson's version first, then was curious about who wrote it ( music & lyrics) and then only discovered it was written by Eddie Vedder. I love both versions and I'll go back & forth between the two. So much feeling there, & I can't imagine Eddie not being pleased and honored by Willie's beautiful, almost haunting take on his composition. I think of my Mom mostly, when I listen to it. She's gone a year and a half now. Some of those lyrics overtake me. "Nothing you would take, and everything you gave." Yes Mom. I'll "meet you on the other side" some day..
Look at all the people in these comments pouring their hearts out. That should tell you what country music really stands for. America needs it now more than ever.
It's a cover of a Pearl Jam song, written by Eddie Vedder. It's simply great song writing. Whether it's rock, country, pop, hip hop, metal or whatever, the style makes no difference if the song is great.
Such a beautiful song and so many sad posts here. Sending love out to all who are sad and suffering. To have loved and been loved is the greatest gift of all.
Such a tearjerker watching these two perform this on July 4th, 2024. Willie was still ill - blowing his nose and quite breathless. Lukas and the audience helped him through most songs as he couldn't do it on his own. So glad I got to see him perform!!
This song makes me happy and sad all at the same time, the part where Lukas is sitting all by himself at 3:17 gets me right in the feels for some reason. :(
My mother was the Willie Nelson fan in my house. I absolutely love this song. I am amazed at how much Lucas sounds like his father. Rest in peace Mom. I miss you everyday. Jan 25 1944-Sept 22 2001❤

Wow, it seems the only difference between Willie's voice and his son's voice is the way age has affected both of them. It's incredible how similar they sound!!
The hardest part of Willie is his vocal pattern and pronounciation...his son is right on top of that and it takes family to do that generally...just like the BeeGees harmonies were a family thing (different style music obviously). Great sound!
There are no words... None. This version of this song is music to my crying heart... My Daddy died August 13th, 2017 and I can't seem to shake the pain in my heart. He was so much more than a single father, mentor, guide, protector, provider, Grandpa... He was my best friend. The pain is raw... Its still so raw. The only thing that seems to help is music. Every day I listen to his favorites and once in a while I stumble onto something newer from one of them... I thank the Lord I stumbled onto this beauty... Because Willie says it best - 'Nothing you would take, Everything you gave. Love you till I die.' Meet you on the other side I miss you Daddy❤
Love Willie and how he covers this Pearl Jam song. Willie is presenting it here as a parent/child thing but Vedder said he wrote it as a song for spouses/partners. Just shows how art can be interpreted and related to in different ways.
Willie is my go to for house cleaning, calming down, enjoying good country music. My daughter's taking metoprolol see him and his two sons next month! She knows how to make momma happy!
Lost my Mom to dementia last June. Dad took care of her till the end. He asked the Lord for that and he gave it to him. He's slowing down now and longs to see my Mom again. No song expresses how I feel better than this uh huh! Prayers for everyone. Thanks Willie and Lucas. God bless you.
Pearl Jam allowing Willie Nelson to perform this masterpiece makes me think about NIN letting Johnny Cash cover Hurt. Gotta love these rock stars for showing love and respect by giving 2 icons permission to cover songs that they wrote. Two beautiful songs.
it's almost never an artist that restricts covers - it's the fucking lawyers and labels. But yeah, Eddie and Trent are some of the good ones out there.
You think Pearl Jam is gonna say no to Willie? Or Trent to Johnny? I'm sure they were both honored to have these songs covered by the legends that did.
You don;t actually have to get permission to cover a song. You can just do it and pay a compulsory license fee. Or you can ask permission and negotiate a fee. But I'm sure Pearl Jam was fine with Willie covering their song.
Love this song and its a treasure to find after being a Willie Nelson fan for so long. 3:35 "Love you til I die, meet you on the other side" so felt. I've seen Willie Nelso I've seen Willie live 3 times. I remember seeing with my Mom at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo in the 90's for the first time. I bought a red Willie Neslon bandana at some point that I would carrie my harmonicas around on my travels and camping. I would unwrap my harmonica and play "Red River Valley" "Will the Circle Be Unbroken", "Amazing Grace", "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" or a Blues Rift...or just make something up. THANK YOU Willie for being one of the most important musical influences in my life! As with most things words don't do justice to all the memories and feelings felt while with music.
Lost my dad in Saturday he is a Willie Nelson fan that brought me here to enjoy this song and z On the road again. My dad said it's not goodbye it's see you later 5/25/2024

OK...haven't left a comment in awhile but I feel compelled to here...first of all when your making reference to folks like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson your talking about LEGENDS.....These ARE the men everybody else cut their teeth on and they actually lived the lives they wrote and sang about and they were both around loooong before N.I.N. and Pearl Jam came along...but just as iron sharpens iron these icons have the talent to recognize the work of other artists in other genres as well....you speak of pay'in respect to the writers...when Trent Rezner learned that a country artist had obtained permission to cover "Hurt" he got upset...when Johnny found out he refused to record it until he talked to Trent and got his blessing...THAT'S PAYING RESPECT! LIVE in the music ya'll...and don't limit your horizons...and always recognize those who's back it was built on....one love ya'll!
Big Mike You are uniformed my man. Trent didn't dislike it because a country musician was covering it, he hated it because anyone was covering it. He said "hearing it was like someone kissing your girlfriend. It felt invasive." This was AFTER the recoding was already made. It was because it was his most personal song. As far as this one goes, to say that Mr. Vedder hasn't lived it and isn't an icon in his own right is just way off base. The guys has been doing it for almost 30 year now, for the love of god, please show some respect as we all show Johnny and Willie theirs as well. Peace.
+Big Mike Yeah Big Mike. I love that I live in a place that appreciated Willie's lifelong contributions to rename 2nd street Willie Nelson Boulevard, complete with bronze statue. Yeah him and those other old codgers some long gone wore their teeth down trying to grab a bite of the American soul, running down that "lost highway". Well, I'm glad I live in a time where men like Willie are venerated. And in his own lifetime! Makes me smile wide :)
For the love of all that matters in country music, let Lukas continue his father's legacy, and let Willie Nelson perform for another 80 years. My dad is gone.... our ride was in a 1962 T Bird.... I'd give anything to have that ride again... so happy for them that their ride was so well documented. I can't imagine what this will mean for Lukas when he is my age... Just amazing.

This makes me think of my Dad. We were both huge Willie Nelson fans. Next Monday makes six years he has been gone. I'm regretting that day. I feel cheated because I was only 12 years old when he passed. My grandpa passed a few days after my bday in Feb and this song reminds me of him. I miss him. He’s the only person who’s ever loved me completely.
I buried my husband of 30 years today... never heard this song before today but he would've loved it
He touches peoples heart with this song ❤️
❤️
@@windycarter3801 so sorry for your loss
He is not "a singer".... He is an icon, he is art, he is true to himself. We all love him for it....a poet.
I'd say Willie is music, he just has to let it out and because its honest it resonates with us . And this is a beautiful video, damn , I've not heard harmonies so perfect apart from the Everlys . Stunning piece

Two words: Merle Haggard
Except he didn't write it, pearl jams Eddie Vedder did, and NOBODY can do it like him.
Stay strong💙 you'll see your dad again someday and he'll be so happy to see you. October 3rd of this year will be 7 years for me since my dad passed.

amsterdam I worry about this, too.

I want to know. Why is Willie Nelson dead?
Nicole, I appreciate your comments so much! I never knew this! So wonderful!
I love this song what can I say they are one of a kind I love them
The fact that he’s signing this with his sons brings a depth I don’t think can be replicated right now.

Give yourself grace. You are deserving of it. She loved and still loves you.
I feel every word of what you said. The guilt is overwhelming at times. I wish I would've done more 😢 even though I know it was her time to go. Can't replace a mother's love ever! 🫂🫂

One of my favorite songs of all time. Absolutely amazing. I bet Eddie Vedder was incredibly honored that Willie Nelson wanted to cover it.
He was. Eddie phoned into a radio show that Willie was on, talked about how honored he was by the cover, and jokingly encouraged Willie to cover every Pearl Jam song.
THANKS, EDDIE VEDDER!!!
Eddie deserves the recognition, and Willie deserves the recognition for seeing how amazing this song is.
Mine, too.
Willie is a Texas Treasure
And one in many other States as well. His music will live on forever.

I'd give anything to have that ride again... so happy for them that their ride was so well documented. I can't imagine what this will mean for Lukas when he is my age... Just amazing.
@Stephen Bell - Stephen I certainly enjoyed your comment & it reminded me so much of my time spent w/ my Dad. We were the best of friends & I've considered myself to be so fortunate to have gotten do as much as we did together. Although I lost him in 98' to cancer we had 30 great yrs. together & it seems like something or someone does or says something almost daily to remind me of some special time we shared together, today it was you ! So from one fortunate son to another, thank you Stephen & may your ride continue on my friend... Thanks Brother... scott👣
Lost my dad in 1982. Seems like yesterday. For all the love that matters
@@debrandw246 Stay Blessed Deborah... Wishing you all the Happiness in the world. Take care & Happy 6th of July ! 👣🐾🎈
Stephen Bell I saw Lukas recently in concert, and he sounds so similar to his father, he will continue the legacy

This breaks me wide open every time I hear it. I listen to it at least three more times before I stop crying. Then I smile… and I remember… the love and memories we had, the everlasting love, and that makes my heart smile…and breathe. I love and miss you dad. Thank you. ❤️

I absolutely love and adore Willie Nelson. This song is fabulous.
My pops and best friend passed away the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This song gets me through everyday! Thank you!!
Que maravillosa cancion, padre e hijo el mismo timbre de voz, que manera de cantar tan lindo,no me canso de ver este video demasiado hermoso. desde Chile.
Being a son.. this father to his son makes me wish I could take 15 years of my life to have 15 more minutes with my father again!

I lost my father yesterday day 2/19/21 this song is more comforting than any human touch
@@dustinendsley6017 my condolences man, i have no idea how much that can hurt, hes in a better place. May he rest in peace❤️
I would do the same. Take every possession I own and just give me 15 more seconds.
This was one of my moms favourite songs. She passed this week. Ive watched this video a hundred times since.
Sorry for the loss of your mom dude!! Stay strong!
It’s unnerving the way your son sounds identical to you! Such a beautiful song! ❤❤❤
Twenty eight years ago my dad left this earth. What I wouldn’t give for one more hour to just sit with him and listen to his scratchy old albums again. Meet you on the other side Dad.
I know what you mean so sad because he had 2 little girls.
Just Breathe is one of my favorite Pearl Jam songs and this is one of the greatest covers to ever grace this world ❤️
Agreed on both counts.
Agree
amen
True!
I love Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam, and don't hate me for saying this, but I like this version even better. Their voices.. that beautiful harmony. ♥️
I miss my dad. How wonderful it would be to have him back!
Love this song
It's so great that Willie's son sounds so much like him. I love this song. Thank you Nelsons!
God Bless Willie for sharing his life and family with us!
I miss my Daddy so much... I miss hearing him sing this sitting at his computer. I miss his hugs. I miss our talks. He was my best friend and I could always talk to him about anything... I hope he hears me...I hope he knows I wish I had visited him more in the hospital...meet you on the other side daddy..I love you so much
I’m sorry about your loss and he hears you and knows everything
As a Father that loves his daughter with every ounce of his being I can assure your father is listening, watching and is patiently waiting for you. He is everywhere and know that every breath you take is a bit of his life saving you. I wish you well, much love.
He knows.
He knows...
God bless you Paige. you willmeet your daddy one day. love
I keep coming back to this. The father/son rendition is so incredible.
I lost my dad this weekend he listened to Willie Nelson songs and loved country songs. This song reminds me of how I feel. I need to just breathe 5/25/2024. He beat cancer 3 times. My superhero. He will be forever missed my father and best friend he said it's not goodbye it's see you later.
Very sorry for your loss. This song greatly soothes the heart pain somewhat.
Im so sorry about your dad. Wishing you the best sincerely
My condolences on your loss. I lost my mom a decade ago and have the lyrics of this song (from Pearl Jam Backspacer album notes) tattooed on my arm as a tribute. You will meet him on the other side my friend.
Siento mucho tu pérdida.
@patrickjarvis2442 thank you sharing I will listen to that song too
This is an extraordinary song sung by two legends, it hits so deeply. I love it, thank you so much to the both of you and Pearl Jam for giving us this special song
Yes that's true.
I have to wonder if this is his "swan-song".
Add a public comment : ? Willie will live forever . He was here before me and has been with me all my life giving me music that picked my useless ass out of the ditch and made me feel like I am somebody..so now I am somebody and I try to help others out of that ditch . Thats what Willie means to me . Its good to know that his boys will keep that ball rolling .
amen brother !
baler johnson well said, buddy!
Amen brother
Its all good my friend. Me and Willie go back a long ways to the headband I got from the 70's to tie back my long and beautiful hair ???Not so much hair now days..But we still got Willie. Gotta live in a van with two other guys in the oil fields of west TX with Willie on the 8 track to understand . Hell fire Willie is still ok and will live forever.Me and God have deal.
Love is not hard for the person..not hard for you and me..just hard for the politicians..I let them have it..God bless
A man and his sons sharing a common love is beautiful. These young men are creating some truly precious memories.
Everyone loves Willie Nelson.
Beautiful rendition of an excellent example of what music should be. Thank you both Nelsons and Mr. Vedder.
This song just reminds me to tell my family & friends that I love them. No one lives forever.
Shortly after my husband passed away 'Just Breathe' was on the radio. It became one of my favorite songs to remember him. His sons are amazing singers. They sound just like him.
Hello Marie I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it?
Saw them live a month ago and this song touched me. Been listening to it as a nearly daily morning/nightly meditation since. Reminds me of my grandparents. Thank you for the beautiful music ❤️
Willie's voice is getting even better with age. Nice duet.
Thank you for the music all through my life. God bless him and his family.
Thanks he's a great 1 uncle never seen him but I hope too
@@thaymadethis1646 , I saw him once on stage in Hobart Tasmania. It was on his last world tour. I never knew what a brilliant soloist he is on the guitar. I was totally smitten by his humbleness, guitar work and voice.
Sadly some morons left the concert because he sang not enough of the old songs for them. I was ashamed for them.
I love Willie for all he stands for and always will. I wished I could have shaken his hand and thanked him personally for all the happinesd he has given me all through my adult live and he still does.
This makes me think of my Dad. We were both huge Willie Nelson fans. Next Monday makes six years he has been gone. I'm regretting that day.
I feel cheated because I was only 12 years old when he passed. Oh what I would give to have more day riding in the woods listening to Willie, Waylon and Skynyrd in his old Toyota- that I now drive- looking for a creek to fish in on a warm day in Georgia.
I've wrote so many songs about him and my mom. But none of them are ever satisfactory for me I hope I make them proud.
But it's okay- I'll just breathe and keep on living for the moment in this short life we live.
Rest In Peace Momma and Daddy love y'all.
It never gets better my father took his life when I was 13 im 22 now but you must remember he loves you he would and never did like seeing you sad.
That is so sweet. Such an incredible and beautiful song
This sing with Willie and Lucas brings me comfort, tears and peace. There are no words to fully explain the way I feel when Willie sings...no words.
Thank you Kat.
Willie and Lucas just amazing 👏 love ❤ this song 🎵 thanks always ❤ helps ❤
Unfortunately not Willie live in Ireland but just love your music listening for a long time and will be just the best.

I can’t believe Willie covered a Pearl Jam song!!
So why not. Same with Cash and NIN
@@RocknRolla0772 still didnt expect it
He's that good!❤❤❤❤
Clyde ell, I can't believe it either. But damn, he and Lucas did it justice. Ya never know. Long live Willie.
Willie has borrowed heavily from everyone and Eddie Vedder has some marvelous stuff too..I love them both.
I’ve made music with my dad and family for years. My dad is slipping fast in a battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Found this video just when I needed it. Touched me deeply.
Play music for your dad. It will help. Music helped my mom to have her last few hour of clarity before she died,
Watch video documentary Alive Inside about how music wakes up people with Alzheimer’s even when they can’t remember anything much else
@@charliebay9441 I do all the time. He and I still sing together when we can.

As long as it's attached to a BIG man.
My grandpa passed a few days after my bday in Feb and this song reminds me of him. I miss him. He’s the only person who’s ever loved me completely. He had written me a letter and the last line was, “If I don’t see you before then, we will meet again back home.” That is now tattooed on my arm as a constant reminder of the man who saved my life. I miss him so much.
Hello 👋 Cherie. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Scott Clifford am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
💕💫 that is such a cool and beautiful thing for him to have written and you to have tattoo of 🥹💟
I hope you are ok. Your comment made me cry😢
This man is a country legend....Long life for this Masterpiece Man

That almost sounds true. at least that's what I'd like to believe😊
This song reminds me of my dad , it’s been just under a month since you left us , rest In peace king
Huge Pearl Jam fan, and Willie and his boy do a great job here. Interesting how well it translates to a different style. Even though I thankfully do not have any deaths in my life currently, this song always chokes me up.
My husband, Chuck, died in October and Willie was his favorite singer. I wish I had found this in time. I love it.
My Dad also passed away in Oct. My mother too. Wish he could of heard this before he passed. Helped me alot this song ang video.
He's with you everytime you play it. Bless you
There is no measure for the love I have for my Son. This song is beautiful.
Music is a healer, it's a memory, it's a moment, it's an experience, it's a love 🙌❤
