Just came across this video and it’s an awesome tutorial tips. I am new with Logic Pro x and now still trying the free version and will definitely buy the software. Thanks Bro...👍
Excellent question. To be honest there is never any headroom available on those downloaded beats. They have usually been maximised fully. So this tut is based on the premise that there is no headroom. Cheers for the feedback too.
@@purposedriventv Thanks for asking. Sadly I don't as it does not pay enough. You are much better off finding a good mixer on Fiverr. There are many talented and affordable guys offering mixing services there. Sorry 😀
Good question. I’d avoid adjusting the fader for the main stereo out channel. Create headroom by pulling down the channel faders 🎚️ on the instrumental tracks. That way you can use the mastering plugins to add more punch to the music 👍🏾
I get all of my instrumentals here from RUclips & use FL Studio 20. How can I get a WAV file of the these instrumentals without purchasing them? Do I use an online converter?
The only way you can get WAV files of online beats is to contact the seller. Otherwise you will just have to pull the MP3s into Logic and export from there as WAVs.
Music Tech Training Centre just a note as of May 1st, 2029 (at least for me) on macOS Catalina, w1 Limiter doesn’t seem to be working. It may only work on Mojave and other versions prior to.
Good question. I word with a lot of people nowadays who record vocals to a pre-made instrumental or beat bought online. The beat itself is usually already mastered so all the artist is generally adding is vocals to complete the song. As such I take out around 6dB of gain on the beat channel to start with then mix the vocals to that level which then leaves me enough headroom for remastering. The only gain staging needed therefore is between the mic, audio interface and any other external gear connected to the mic before the signal hits the computer. Hope that helps. Cheers 😀 Duce
If the beat was squashed that makes it very difficult to achieve a decent final mix. You can try different tricks to enhance things somewhat but I don't waste time on that. For me it is always about producing the best quality so I would make sure the beat is in good shape in the first place. Cheers 😀
Question, do you recommend bouncing the track to WAV once you enhance it and then import the enhanced mp3 to a session as a single track? or would you record and mix the vocals under one session? Sorry if my question doesn’t make sense
Great question. My advice is to stay in WAV format for as long as possible. Only bounce to MP3 if absolutely necessary. WAV is a much higher quality audio format than MP3 so if you work on that basis you will be fine.
Good question. First pull down the volume fader of the beat to create around 6dB of headroom for your vocals. Once the vocals have been added you should still have some room left to maximize everything and make the track bang. Cheers.😀
Yes Logic does accept mp3 files. If you need to edit an MP3 in Logic you must bounce in place to convert to WAV and perform your editing on the newly created file. Cheers 😀
@@n.r.2258 I suppose it’s a matter of terminology. You can import MP3 and m4a files into Logic. You can process and remaster them too without the need for conversion. However if you need to edit the audio the file needs to be converted to a higher resolution format for that to happen. Again it’s about what the term “accepts” means to each of us. Anyway thanks for the follow up. Cheers 😀
For once in a lifetime, someone told and show how to use all of this filters and more in Logic. Thanks for showing these in a simple way.
Fantastic!!! So glad it has helped. Cheers.😀

Thank you very much for your very kind words. I enjoy teaching and I enjoy teaching music so I’m really pleased the video has been useful to you.
Excellent! Thanks.

Hey man awesome tut! One question though! Is it possible to use this technique when there's no headroom on the mp3 file?

My original bussed is sitting at 0.0 in the fader. Will it hurt to bring to bring the fader down a bit?

Earned my sub bro I’m gone do a free album wit mp3 downloads. Thanks

@@MTTC is the beat mastered like that or are you mastering it after, when it is a wave file???/
and do you master a beat or just mix it and master the whole song(beat&vocals)?
Should you gain stage before doing this?

do you hve a preset we can download?
No my friend I don’t do presets.
nice video
Thanks very much 😀
Can you do this with vocals?
Yes absolutely. You are simply treating the audio, whatever it might be. 😀
what if you don't have a lot of room to work with because the whole beat is on the top of ceiling

If you have to convert it first means that Logic doesn’t accept MP3 formats.

Do i need to restart my apple mac after downloading the W1 Limiter
Sorry for the late reply. I am sure you have figured out you don't need to restart you Mac.
This technique sounds like it’s being flanged
Yes that can happen depending on material used and accuracy of alignment. Cheers 😊
