- Guilty Gear Stive by Arc Systems has a great Soundtrack and today I am tackling putting all of these on a tier list, who will be at the top, Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Zato 1, Happy Chaos? this video was recorded before Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 was released but it’s posted after, despite that this list does include the newly released character Johnny Guilty Gear, and his theme Just Lean.

I know lots of you will disagree me and that is ok, if I make you mad with this list then hah. If you have disagreements I would love to hear your opinions, and remember that this is all just my personal preference, I’m not saying any of the lower songs are bad in fact I like most of them, they are just my lesser favorites. I will probably make an update to this video after the dlc is released, some of my opinions in this video have already changed so be on the lookout for that
The vocals really sound goofy sometimes, the vocalists are absolutely amazing In my opinion, but the jenglish is pretty noticeable at some points, it doesnt really have an impact on my apriciation of the songs, but sometimes I get a little anxious when others listen to it, always expect them going, "sounds a little goofy don't it?"
Oh and drift at least in A
Cool video tho, can relate to most of the things you said, especially how most songs get better the more you listen to them. And that all of them are good to a varying degree, also can't really get into johnny's theme...

As someone who doesn't understand music theory, i can call the guilty gear strive soundtrack, a collection of sounds that makes my brain happy.

Johnny's theme being at D hurts
not including lore when all of the themes are very heavily drenched in and based off the characters lore is pretty criminal
But would you rank a song off lyrics being godlike but the instrumentals being garbage as still being A tier?
If i would rank the songs off the soundtrack more based on how the lyrics compliment the music rather than opposite, since the lyrics are sung in a way that would not be acceptable by native or 2nd language english speakers, like having a Long A in a song or ending a phrase with A, is something that makes no sense in western music.
I do think that with guilty gear soundtracks when comparing them, the lore is very crucial as well

Gio is an EXTREMELY acquired taste.
The "middle part" of drift is absolutely incredible if you are a percussionchad rather than some whining lyriccel. The time signatures change like 4 or 5 times through the song, and the weird syncopated bridges between the different parts of it go so hard. A lot of parts also remind me of alice in chains

Bedman’s theme is peak as hell… when you aren’t listening to it in game
The bongos in Sol's theme are an allusion to many of the early Queen songs that featured Bongos, each of Sol's core colors are also a reference to various members of Queens' key wardrobe pieces
I feel like not including lore would mix up the tierlist soo much, i cant help but to think of zatos backstory when listening to it which makes it so amazing and sad
guilty gear strive's ost has what i call "the strive affect" which is songs get better and better the more u listen to it
i hated the circle at first but now its my absolute favorite. i completely agree with the beginning not being great from a gameplay stance but yea ggst soundtrack is absolutely amazing

Yes someone finally put it into words. The first couple times I listened to it I was like “This is wack” and now i’m like “ AYAYAYA” and “CONSUMING TEN BILLON YEARS IN AN INSTANT, AND I’ll COME TO YOU WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT” every single time.

I'm usually not mad with any ggst tier list, I don't complain about others opinion on balance, ships, whether they can fling a baby into the sun. but THIS. this made me so mad that I went beyond the integer limit and reached happy

"Mirrors of the world" is actually one of the best theme in GGs no cap both sound and lyrics wise are excellent, the theme captures Baiken "Raging Persona" while showing her soft side at the end so well
Too bad it had the same problems with Vergil "Bury the lights" lots of build up before the good part kick in, they put a 6 - 9 minutes theme for a characters that can clear the floor in 30 sec, DMC had dynamic sound system so its somewhat oke, what a shame, Baiken theme deserved to rank much higher
At some parts the singer sounds like Kermit. Just can't unhear it, which throws me of sometimes...
i love the part at the end its so fucking hood, even without the end its good

now i wanna make one of these now because ive been addicted to gg music for a sec now, several of the songs helped me out while in a dark place in life so i enjoy looking into how the songs represent the characters different ideologies and philosophies, they all feel so deep and emotional. (my tier list would prolly start at A lol) loved hearing the things you liked about the better songs tho so great vid!

The best part of Zatos theme for me isn't the last minute, although it's great. I love the "vanish into dark" part the most because the tempo works really well with the cadence of Zato's combos.

I'm so sorry but no matter what character I play I always change the song to the roar of the spark every time no matter if I'm winning or losing once I hear “THE ROAR OF THE SPARK” my hair rises, adrinelline kicks in and I no longer stop trying

What youve got to understand is that first and foremost, people wont dislike your choices because they think you disliking one song is objectively bad, but because even though this video has obviously had a big amount of time and effort poured into it, you didnt do any further research than how it sounds, and how the lyrics sound, people will think thag youre willfully ignorant of the lore, and therefore will be mad for you on dogging on their favourite songs, when you dont fully know the story behind them.
Even so, youre a new channel, and for one of your first videos its really great, i hope you'll succeed in your youtube career

Since I'm new with Guilty gear series, and don't see myself as a part of the fandom (yet), I feel like I have no any biases. I personally like your list, and Happy Chaos as a character and OST are my first touches with Strive. Just today I listened all character themes, and I don't think I would rank these songs much differently 🤔

You're the first person who has ever placed The Gravity in S tier like i have.
The Gravity is head and shoulders above the rest of the music in Strive in my opinion, Mainly the fact that the song goes beyond just Strive.
The entire song is Asuka singing about how much of a colossal fuck up he made by setting the events of the entire franchise in motion, and is attempting to attone. killing and lying to innocent people in a 'ends justify the means' mindset, just for him to realize too late that none of it mattered. He knows he messed up. he knows he ruined his best friends life and that he could never fix what he did... yet beyond all of it... beyond his divine prophet persona... beyond everything he's done..."do you recognize me?"

I'm a bit disappointed that out of the box is so low. I find Axl a very interesting character since every single theme he has is almost delightfully mid. In a good way of course. He always manages to sit in the upper mid section of every soundtrack and is never a flop.

I think most people will see problems with ignoring the lore as its a vital part of most characters themes and is important to understanding the artistic vision of the creators during the songs.
Other than that though its a great vid, I do disagree with most of your takes for the tier list but at the very least you are consistent with them

I'm of the opinion that in the next game or season, characters need to have their true theme (album) and either a cut down version of it to fit the flow of combat

Honestly drift has gotta be one of my favourites out the bunch, since i love the piano, and all the parts that follow it. The entire song just makes me happy. Also i get what you mean by just lean. If you don't like the western ish tunes i get it. I personnaly love the theme because its basically just hyping up johny with a catchy tune
I watched the entire video, and I fully understand having opinions, but sweeeet Lord--Drift in C-Tier?! Jokes aside, I respect your takes. I think the only reason I disagree with a lot of the lower tiered songs being that low is due to the meanings of the songs, and how I've spent a good week looking into all the meanings and finding my own. Honestly, if I didn't know any lore, your rankings would seem really understandable... Minus Drift... Anyways, to anyone reading, please do not give hate to someone for harmless opinions. I struggled with thoughts of suicide from age 8 all the way until mainly the year before last year, when I was 16. During my extreme depression, it honestly felt like I had no emotions. Sure, there were a few small moments of happiness, but it felt like I was living in a constant void, looking for some way to live. Zato-1's theme reminds me of the struggle I went through for so long, but also that I'm on the other side of it now. That there's so much more to look forward to, and that I have a renewed sense of appreciation for life. That there are emotions and feelings in my life now. That's why I like Zato's theme. Every second of it. I understand why most people aren't a fan of most of the song, and this isn't a critique of you Tsunami, I just thought you might want to see a different perspective :)
Edit: year before last I was 16, college has fried my brain a little bit lol

Judging by your taste in music on this OST, I'd suggest listening to Daisuke's other work from BlazBlue. They're mostly instrumentals so the things you dislike about the vocals aren't present and when they are there, they're typically really good. Susano'o's theme in particular has a very fitting sound to the character. my favorites are Kagura's Theme "Black Aggression" and Tsubaki's theme "Condemnation Wings."
If you ever do though fair warning: There are a LOT of characters and themes that play when certain characters match against each other, and because of how old the game is the production, specifically mixing hasn't aged very well.

axl - i wouldn't rate it this low but i also thought this was the worst theme a while back but it's definitely grown on me, also FUCK YOU his character is cool. AXL NATION ATTACK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

goldlewis - i agree, this theme fits goldlewis so well, it's fallen a bit overtime for me, but still a really solid song
may - god, her theme is such a bop. honestly worried that you'd put this at bottom tier as a lot of people do, it's just a really fun song. honestly all of AISHA's songs feel like the character is singing, she's really good
ram - i really like the beginning part too, the overall song is so hype. it sits just outside s tier for me. ram's hat is cool too
sol - the definitive guilty gear strive song, i love it and i agree with the ranking
bridget - also one of the other songs i worried you'd put at bottom tier, glad it's so high. the chorus is one of my favorite's but i don't really like the in-betweens
nago - i'd rank this a bit lower personally, but i don't mind this. it is a really good song. also you mentioned part of it sounds exactly like come together, but a lot of the other songs also reference different pop music, nago's is just definitely more apparent
test - i agree, this song was also meh when i first heard it but it REALLY grew on me. the kind of raspy-nasally vocals work really well i think, also the chorus is really good
asuka - BASED GRAVITY ENJOYER. honestly i was surprised nobody really talked about it when it came out, it's so good. it's clear this was the one song Daisuke put a lot of thought and effort to, and the ending is SO GOOD in a cheesy kind of way, naoki put his soul into those vocals.
crawl - idk, i don't have a lot to say about this song
pot - honestly i think this song's kind of overrated, it still definitely is a good song though and fits potemking well
leo - THIS SONG IS SO GOOD, the lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentals, just 10/10. don't mind this ranking at all

I'm a Zato main and while his theme is among the top, I completely agree with the goofy singing criticism, it's the one thing that bothers me about it. The actual hot take here is Happy Chaos - his theme is a hodge podge, but it all works together. Especially weird since you like Faust's theme so much, when both share a lot of common ground. Generally a pretty understandable list, but I can tell we have vastly different preferences.

Honestly, I agree with most of this. I think Drift isn’t really that good, I think people sleep on Perfection Can’t Please Me, and I love the top 4 a lot as well. The only things I really disagree on is Zato (shocker), Baiken (kind of), Remlethal, and Asuka
Now I’m not gonna try and be like “Well the last minute is peak, therefore Zato’s theme is good.” While it is, I believe the rest of it is also a banger. The first two verses and choruses actually do sound really good in my opinion while I believe the bridge and last chorus are super good
Now I get why you ranked Baiken where you did cause like yeah, in game it’s just silent for a minute, but if you can rate The Town Inside Me in A tier, then I think Baiken could get there as well, especially with it being in my opinion, peak Guilty Gear music
I believe Ramlethal theme isn’t that good. I agree that the beginning is good and the chorus are super good. I also do love the gradual build up in the song, but I also think a lot of it just sounds like noise with nothing too interesting happening musically
Finally, even though you rated Asuka S tier, I’d honestly rate him even higher. There’s just so much in the song and all of it sounds good and fits together perfectly, I believe it’s also peak Guilty Gear

im probably in the minority that prefers the meat of zatos theme rather than the beginning and end. i know how it fits his character but i dont enjoy how different it is from the rest of his theme and not a good fit for a fighting game at all. whereas the VANISH INTO DARK goes crazy for me

I'm well aware that this list is nowhere near objective but Just Lean in musical stand point is just really solid blend of country music and rock, Drift is one of the most impressive piece of song that i've ever heard the blending between Jazz, Rock, Pop Punk, and even classical orchestra is just so good, and The town inside me is NOT a good fighting games soundtrack, put it simply it takes too long because it's focus more on telling the story of Bridget rather than being Fighting games soundtrack, if i were to choose between Roar of The Spark or the town inside me to play while i'm busting open my opponents head i would pick Roar of The Spark simply because it's a good fighting game Song. Most of Strive song is a GOOD SOONG but NOT A GOOD FIGHTING GAME SOUNDTRACK, i wouldn't blast Birthday Train while i'm playing Xrd simply because it's doesn't feel right, for me the same case goes to The Town Inside Me and Perfection Can't Please Me.
Also, Rock Parade should be higher.

there are little differences that make the song work so much better in a fighting game setting and makes the beginning a bit more tolerable lol
