I like how Bricky was able to connect to a song on a personal level, it made me think of why I love "Alone Infection". The tragedy of a man pushed to insanity by great loss and trying to overcome his own flaws but also traumatized from his own actions, that is something I heavily relate to. I don't feel safe sharing here but to make a long story short, I put a whole bag of jelly beans up my ass.
It may sound weird but part of the reason why I love the Guilty Gear OST is because all the songs character songs. I love the idea of a song being able to define and illustrate the nature of a character in a piece of fiction. I don’t know why but any OST that has character songs tends to be on my list of faves.
If this helps with Alone Infection's replayability Bricky, "ABCDEF GO" Is not a line meant to be taken on it's own, it's "CHAOS! ABCDEF GO! (Order)" so it's not *entirely* random

Zatos theme switching between slow-and-depressed and loud-in-your-face fits his playstyle so much. Plus the offputting intro and ending sourrounding the song like a shadow with extremely depressing lyrics is just perfect. Maybe I'm just biased because zato is my main but I love this song.

I'm not a musical expert, but I believe I can explain why Anji's theme isn't considered great by many. The thing about Rock Parade is that it tells two completely different stories, both with lyrics and emotions displayed through singing, which I believe is a very difficult thing to do (hence why Zato's theme feels disjointed). One story is about a night of celebration, ,,Sweets and loud music. A night of light when no child sleeps". This is how Anji wanted that night to go, which is why those parts of the song descripting the events sound more upbeat. However, what really happened was a night of ,,Darkness and silence. Dark dawn where even an adults sleep". ,,But this part honestly sad part sounds as upbeat as the first one'' - 99,9% percent of people would say. And they would be right, but I personally find this part to be more sombre because of the ,,Battlecry" chorus separating those two descriptions. In my humble opinion, it thematically acts as Anji's coping mechanism with the events of his childhood, similar to Leo's Hellfire's song having such a feeling of pride behind it, despite it's lyrics basically being PTSD: The Musical. To put it simply, the storytelling and the feelings of Anji's Rock Parade are difficult to follow without digging deeper into it. This is the same reason I like Ram's theme the least. However, what elevates Rock Parade above Necessary Discrepancy for me... is a payoff. The 2 minutes and 40 second of the song were all a setup for the satisfaction that is last minute and 28 seconds. This part speaks of Anji's determination to seek answers to his curiosity about the world, and to uphold a promise - to once again meet that girl with whom he survived ( *wink-wink* Baiken *wink-wink* ). ,,And now a single footstep carries two hearts. I'm still chasing one." In conclusion, due to interesting choices of the design of this song, it's difficult to see Rock Parade's hidden beauty without paying closer attention. P.S. Please keep in mind that this is all my personal opinion. I do not even consider Rock Parade to be the best song (I'm an Axl main and my personal favorite is Out of The Box. It and Let Me Carve Your Way are partially a reason why I bought Deluxe Edition on first day of Strive's release), but not the worst either. Millias is definitely my fave. It sounds straight out of RWBY. But as you said this OST is god tier there’s not a single song I don’t like, they’re all amazing.
Yay. the Tier list is here!!! You make some hot takes, solid points and different views from other tier lists videos. Also, hello from the guilty gear video's comment section from the Bricky channel.
Knowing how much Ramlethal has grown as a person since she first showed up in Xrd SIGN, hearing the lines “the loving foolish world is just fine” and “don’t take them down to the ground without a face-to-face” always bring a smile to my face.
This may sound weird, but ram's song always gave me "music doll box" kind of vibes, like the music pays homage to her begginings as a mere puppet to the universal will, with the lyrics stating that she has changed and now has a will of her own, while the melody and pacing just give me this image of a helpless doll being controlled by strings. It's such a good way to handle her change and i like it so much
Find Your One Way has to be my Number 1. I may be biased as a Sol Simp, but Find Your One Way makes me feel like I can fight an entire hoard of bears and win without breaking a sweat. It just radiates Badass
Love this list Bricky! As someone with a music background grown from impulse, I understand if you based it on feeling and from what you understand. Would love to see a Video Game OST tier list from you.
Love the Subhuman Self is what even brought my attention to Guilty Gear when I heard it faintly in a Leffin stream. Glad Bricky agrees on its deserved ranking
I see where Bricky is musically. if compared to scenery he likes the beach, and doesn't like the mountains. All his top rated ones have a constant cadence to them. And all the lower ones for the most part have really high mountains and low valleys or are goin through multiple terrains.
bricky, i cant believe i sat and watched this entire tier list twice, and havent bought strive yet. but i have to tell you that i LOVE how you defend this tier list. it may bot be particularly eloquently at times, but i gell completely with your reasons. much enjoyed.
Great list, almost spot-on, the only thing i'd personally done differently is to put Ram's theme in s+, it's very underrated imo, at first I also didn't like it very much, but learning about her story and giving it a few listens with context made me realise how well-structured that song is. This song uses digital synths, odd time signatures and very a.i. like vocals in the first couple of minutes, showcasing how Ram used to be this emotionless weapon, but it then transforms into this fast, prog-metal, aggresive middle section that reflects Ram's slow understanding of emotions and what it means to be human (not to mention the fact that it just serves as a sick battle background music) and it all ends in this fantastic climax tying up all the previous themes and Ram's growth as a character throughout the series, it feels like the vocals are directly representing Ram as she's throwing away her original "nature" and accepting humanity, with all it's beauty and flaws. It's a weird song for sure, especially if prog-rock isn't someone's cup of tea, but I personally love bands like Tool or Dream Theater and this song just feels like a love letter for this genre of music, plus I also think it's actually quite accesible compared to the bands listed above.
as soon as i saw zato and ky in the highest tier i knew this guy was smart. subbed and i was very touched by ur story of zatos theme through your hardship, keep fighting :D
Faust’s my favorite song with Goldlewis, I don’t know why I love it so much it’s just a banger in my mind but I understand why people don’t like it as much Additionally: in xrd Baiken calls Ky a twink which is true
About the only one I'm sad about here really is Leo’s theme. Literally PTSD disguised as high morale upbeat tunes until the struggle breaks through and the dude goes insane. I love it to tears but Zato being in lyrics memorized placated me quite a bit.
Zato’s theme (ESPECIALLY the ending) is a song for those that felt great pain. But not in just that, but those that healed from it in turn. It’s an emblem of the sweet memories before pain, but to the memories made afterward in good spirits.
I think Anji's theme is on the weaker end of the spectrum except that one part where Naoki sings "the promise, I made you The promise, I made you" That part slaps harder than my dad
I would LOVE to see your impressions on older GG titles music! GG has such a long and rich history with it's OSTs throughout it's entire history, and you enjoying GGST's OST wants me to expose you to the vastness of the other GG title music!
zato's theme are two different songs stich together, two completely opposite songs that would be top tier on their own, but together, it enters slowly into your mind, and like a drill it slowly pierces through, until it breaks whatever is resisting it and getting deep into your skull, never to get out
My favorite songs have got to be Requiem, Alone Infection and Armor-clad Faith. They literally make me almost tear up every time I listen to them Also Disaster of Passion is an s+ song you all are just cowards
This is a god tier tier list because you acknowledge that the start of Axl’s song is actually good. There’s so many tier lists where people will stick it lower on the list purely because of that opening.
I just took the last part of Zato’s theme to get me into gg so hard that I can’t stop listening the songs from every single character, ever song have their own thing
Brick: some people put her in memorized and some in A. Me: keep her in placeholder. my hate for "disaster of passion" is as potent as nuclear fission, as everlasting to the point it will continue to burn even when earth is but history and powerful enough to raise me from the dead just to mute or smash whatever is playing that song.

Because I have listened to parts of this soundtrack, I haven't listened to it from cover to cover. Also wtf Ky has the best theme in every guilty gear game! (I might be biased, that guys my main.)

This has probably been suggested already, but it'd be great if you did a tier list/ thoughts video on the non-strive vocal songs as well (well, and non vocal themes too but at that point it'd be too many). There's so many bangers in this franchise

It's such a good way to handle her change and i like it so much
Absolute facts, It speaks so much about her character. It's amazing
It’s my favourite too! Imo the most underrated track in the whole game.
I fucking riot to May's theme everyday, I love it so much.
Find Your One Way has to be my Number 1. I may be biased as a Sol Simp, but Find Your One Way makes me feel like I can fight an entire hoard of bears and win without breaking a sweat. It just radiates Badass
In this Behemoth Typhoon, Goldlewis is going to Bricky's house to delete him for not placing him in best tier.
Ky is canonically a French Catholic crusader
ky, millia and zato better be s tier songs
Rock Parade is the best song simply because it's the community's theme song: the song is literally "GOD I WANT TO FUCK BAIKEN", and we feel that.
I skipped to the end to see the final result, thanks Brickster
Love this list Bricky! As someone with a music background grown from impulse, I understand if you based it on feeling and from what you understand. Would love to see a Video Game OST tier list from you.
Love the Subhuman Self is what even brought my attention to Guilty Gear when I heard it faintly in a Leffin stream. Glad Bricky agrees on its deserved ranking
If your fav character has a song that hits, it will ALWAYS go to "lyrics memorized" tier.
I (unexpectedly) loved to play Axl -> lyrics are memorized
Poor sol always gets average songs, but it's always the quintessential combo and practice music to me. The rhythm just helps me with that timing.
Me: memorized every single song.
Also me: My wake up alarm : "I wake up one morning, stranger say hello to me"
I appreciate that the lowest rank in here is A, there aint no bad tracks, theres just ones I love, and ones I like.
Faust’s my favorite song with Goldlewis, I don’t know why I love it so much it’s just a banger in my mind but I understand why people don’t like it as much
Additionally: in xrd Baiken calls Ky a twink which is true
as an old league player would you be interested in a pentakil song tier list for the last album they did?
Almost every song S+ or higher
Armor-Clad Faith's drop ignites fire inside my fucking veins
About the only one I'm sad about here really is Leo’s theme. Literally PTSD disguised as high morale upbeat tunes until the struggle breaks through and the dude goes insane. I love it to tears but Zato being in lyrics memorized placated me quite a bit.
Me who did not watch Brick for a long time seeing him in recommended: what
It's a Guilty Gear: Strive video: *What*
It's a theme tier list: *_WHAT_*
There are more GGST videos: *_WhAt_* how did I miss that
Damn I love Sol’s theme so much. I feel like it, Potemkin, Chipp, and the main GGST theme are lyrics memorized
Amor-clad Faith is so good, it just makes you want to sniff some glue
Zato’s theme (ESPECIALLY the ending) is a song for those that felt great pain. But not in just that, but those that healed from it in turn. It’s an emblem of the sweet memories before pain, but to the memories made afterward in good spirits.
The only downside to the song id that because of how long thr full song is, you'll never be able to fully hear it in game
Bring it man! Never played any guilty gear and never heard any songs so...
Let's
F****ing
GO!
Thank you very much for giving me access to the absolute durg of a sountrack that this game has
The intro of 'mirror of the world' is engraved into my head, it's such a great buildup.
I think Anji's theme is on the weaker end of the spectrum except that one part where Naoki sings
"the promise, I made you
The promise, I made you"
That part slaps harder than my dad
That entire part absolutely SLAPS
He's literally just screaming about his love of Baiken and I love it
Nago: “I guide others to a treasure I cannot possess”
I would LOVE to see your impressions on older GG titles music! GG has such a long and rich history with it's OSTs throughout it's entire history, and you enjoying GGST's OST wants me to expose you to the vastness of the other GG title music!
The music in this games brings a tear to my eye
LEEET MEEEE
LEEET MEEEE
LEEET MEEEE CAAARVE YOUR WAAAAAAY
I'M A SHADOW AALWAYS WITH YOUUUUU
zato's theme are two different songs stich together, two completely opposite songs that would be top tier on their own, but together, it enters slowly into your mind, and like a drill it slowly pierces through, until it breaks whatever is resisting it and getting deep into your skull, never to get out
My favorite songs have got to be Requiem, Alone Infection and Armor-clad Faith. They literally make me almost tear up every time
I listen to them
Also Disaster of Passion is an s+ song you all are just cowards
I hope you take the opportunity to experience the background music, themes and songs of past games. Some of,them still hit hard til this day.
That part of Zatos theme after listening to the whole thing on repeat for an hour got me to buy the game
Hehe totsugeki 🐬🐬🐬🐬
Ram's theme is literally the best in the game. I don't know why it's so slept on.
I hope Bricky also explores themes from the older Guilty Gear games.
Holy Orders is top of the list, personally
@@aswirlything5838 awe of she from GGX is my favorite but It's not in the game. If you listen to both holy orders and awe of she. Roar of the spark is a mix of both
I had the same opinion on Rock Parade for a long time, then one time the "parade dance" part hit, and holy hell it just resonates
Nice reveiw. As someone who got a classical piano performance degree. I can say that people who don't know about music theory usually enjoy music more lol. Also people who are very knowledgeable about music tend to be very condescending. Not my crowd anymore.
Once you understand how something works you constantly think about those inner workings, distracting you from enjoying it.
@@adam-ft2ny definitely
I'm convinced that the only reason Anji consistently places low is because Bricky is jealous that Anji was able to get with Baiken
I would put Goldlewis higher, but honestly
Its not a big deal.
Bricky has introduced me to so many good songs. Thank you for this tierlist
You are wrong about may's theme, half of people gonnaput it in TOTSUGEKI tier, and other half will put it in PTSD tier.
Except that one guy who can kick the dolphin somehow
God dammit Bricky i was trying to get over my guilty gear addiction and now im listening to zato and potemkins theme
Dammit Bricky! Sol not being in “lyrics memorized” is the perfect example of why i always find you funny but can never take you seriously! XD
Ky usually gets some of the best GG themes in every game it’s insane.
For real. Not a single bad theme in over 20 years. Even his theme from the obscure Korean OST goes SUPER HARD.
Considering the fact that you blew out your voice singing Zato-1s theme I would hope that he was in lyrics memorized. lol I'm glad you found this game so enjoyable and I can really feel the happiness you get from it. Like you I've never experienced Guilty Gear but it's fun watching you play it.
Bro but the switch in rock parade is insane
I cannot comprehend somebody not having "Find your one way" memorised
Hard agree that Ky looks like a doofus
Ky looks like he pours his soda into a glass
Ky looks like he files his tax returns months in advance
Ky listens to Dragon Force in his Honda Accord on the way to Costco
Accurate and relatable. lol
I can imagine Nago's theme's chorus being in a angle grinder commercial as it cuts something and sparks fly
My original plan was to translate the things that you said into music theory terms "Ah he means ABA" or "A is really strong B and C are not" but some of the things you said makes me really want to dive into this soundtrack and *really listen* to it. Because I have listened to parts of this soundtrack, I haven't listened to it from cover to cover.
Also wtf Ky has the best theme in every guilty gear game! (I might be biased, that guys my main.)
Bricky: Only 3 songs get in Lyrics Memorized
Me: Ok
Bricky: *puts 3 songs before let me carve your way*
Me: *nervous sweating*
Bricky: and then we have Zato's theme... Lyrics Memorized
Me: *You sonuva*
Take notes people cuz Bricky knows whats good
Btw I think Ram should have been way higher that song made me ledgit cry just like Zato, but I also understand that it can be very hit or miss depending on what your taste is like
THE MUSIC THAT'S FINISHED NEVER ENDS IN MY HEAD! THE PROMISE I MADE TO YOU THE PROMISE I MADE TO YOU... ;~;
Really like the Zato description. It’s funny that it’s the 1st thing I ever heard from guilty gear and it’s the song that got me into it all
Faust probably has my favorite song in the game
Holding out hope for a sequel video now that we have a bunch more DLC songs
This has probably been suggested already, but it'd be great if you did a tier list/ thoughts video on the non-strive vocal songs as well (well, and non vocal themes too but at that point it'd be too many). There's so many bangers in this franchise
funny thing and thing that i think shows the "best" is that not only the moment roar of the spark played in the video is the most replayed, but also the explanation is the most replayed one XD
How you described some Songs reminder me of " a Soul cant be Cut" from Metal Gear rising. S++ start and Just falls after the "my ears are ringing" Lyrics part
