I taught a few Royal Marines when I was a driving instructor. One thing I particularly remember about them was their wicked sense of humour, (and let's face it, they need it in their job). These are fantastic guys, and it was a privilege to work with them.
How kind. Best wishes from the grandson of a Royal Marine. I have his photo in uniform. He was a big bloke. Never mentioned what he did. His scars told us what we needed to know. Best wishes
Sir I agree with you, Courtesy costs nothing, Unfortunately in today’s world, Courtesy is a rarity. My unit was supposed to work with the Royal Marines back in the fall of 1985, but our command felt that we needed more desert training, even after spending two months working with the Egyptian Army. Still have never made it to England yet, but hopefully soon. Please have a wonderful week.

Good luck mate. One of my stepsons just missed the cut in training and my eldest son had to leave training last year due to injury despite three months in Hunter. Seriously, good luck.
Happy Birthday! I don’t think there is any better a fighting force than the Royal Marines...your brother in arms....U.S. Marine , Vietnam Nam , Kh Sanh Vet. Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday Royals, your cousins across the pond will be celebrating our birthday soon as well. I'll raise a cold one for y'all then. - From a US Marine Afghanistan Veteran
My father was a Royal Marine in WW2 having enlisted in 1938. Refused to take his medals as he said he was just doing his job. A quiet man who served onboard in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean and survived a sinking along the way. He lost most of his fellow Royal Marine mates on the HM Barham. Amazing Corps. Thank you all.
My grandad served as a Royal Marine in WW1. He never mentioned what he did. His old mates told me that he was at Dogger Bank,Jutland and Zeebrugge. I suppose humility goes with the job. Best wishes
Happy birthday to all my serving brothers. Despite serving many years ago, it’s a family that still stays in touch and makes us, the forebears, feel proud.
Happy Birthday to our older cousins across the pond, you have spent the extra years honin the edge of your spear excellently. Looking to our 248th on 10 NOV, been out of the active USMC many years, still remembering well hoistinga few pints with the RM. My daughter now lives just down the river from your training ground, glad you aer keeping her and yours secure.
Too bad there are not more of you great guys. Happy Birthday to the Royal Marines, from an old retired U.S. Army bandsman. You will have have at least 359 more...
Just past my PJFT and have my CPC in 4 weeks. I tell myself every day "This is for the soldiers before me and this is for the ones after me" Per Mare Per Terram Let go lads!
For 14 years I was privileged to serve as a RMC. I think of the guys every single day. I miss them, I miss the brotherhood of it, I miss the absolute top level banter, I miss being tested and pushed. To anyone reading who is serving now, enjoy every day because when you’re out you’ll miss it. Be lucky 👍🏼
I was taught to static line parachute jump back in 1986 and 1987 by Royal Marine Commandos - some of the most friendly and reassuring chaps I have ever encountered.
Happy Birthday guys and for the Corps on the 28th, great to see the Corps is being carried forward just has high (if not higher!) as it was when I served, Taff Parry
Wow! It’s like watching the USMC Commandant’s birthday message, but with a British accent! I didn’t realize the Royal Marines celebrate their birthday like us U.S. Marines do. I will mark October 28th in my calendar to ensure I fly their flag in their honor!
Happy Birthday, Royal Marines. And what a fantatsic job from the media dept. You encapsulated the British spirit perfectly. Why can't the MSM do the same?
The Royal Marines give everything, blood, sweat and tears. To an ungrateful hierarchy and Government. Their pay and conditions should reflect the slow promotion within the Corps. This is a brilliant piece of PR.
I'm a proud patriotic English man & EXTREMELY PROUD of our history. I pray that you boy's that are willing to sacrifice your lives will be there this weekend at our Capital to defend the memory of our fallen & reclaim this country back from the enemy that Tony Blair has let in?
I am a Citizen of Australia and would like to Join the Royal Marines. I am currently 14 and am training very hard to fit the requirements for when I can apply.
I'm turning 18 this year, and I'm going to join the royal marine soon as well. I couldn't get into the university I wanted, so I'm pursuing a military career instead.
Many Congratulations on such a Birthday to every single person who is badged, Royal Marine, (I should have joined in 1978, my choice was wrong). Thank you for your unwavering service
I just hope that the Royal Navy doesn’t get rid of the Albion class Ships to save money, without these ships there’s just the Bay class that suits the Royal Marines needs!
Happy Birthday to my UK Royal Marine brothers from this old U.S. Marine. Never have we had better allies and partners.

Well said Sir.
Your boys aren’t so bad, you know.
