This instrumental piece was initially intended as a demo/ test of the Bare Knuckle Aftermath pickups I had installed in in my Jackson JS22-7 but during the time of writing I also acquired a Horizon Devices Precision Drive and a Peavey 6505MH, both of which were used on this recording. I might publish a more dedicated review of these items at a later stage.

Came here cause I got this guitar on a budget. And I’m lookin to upgrade pickups.... think I’ve found the ones! Thank you!
So very Architects of you! I loved this so much. I was going over lyrics in my head for it. Wish there was more. Keep it up
Thank you very much! That's far too kind a comparison though!
This has some shit hot editing! Awesome composition and tones dude!
Thank you very much, kind Sir! So pleased you enjoyed it!
I have that guitar also but in black gloss, definitely worth upgrading but its playability for it's price is amazing. I really enjoy this composition of yours. Keep them coming.
SinisterSinner7 thank you for the kind words, mate! Yeah I do enjoy playing this one. Working on a new video with a very different guitar at the moment... Hope to have it finished and uploaded fairly soon. M
D O W N P I C K I N G M A S T E R !
Liked because of the tritone.
This is beautiful. Killer composing and playing my friend!
Thank you so much!

@@rathoquarter the preview sounds good bro
I’m sure Bill has added this to his Favorites.
Not sure what this means.
Thats agreat video AND a great tune mate.really well done.
Thank you very much indeed! That is very kind of you. Thanks for checking it out.
@@rathoquarter I have actualy captured the audio, I've just stuck it in a playlist between Be Bop Deluxe forbiden lovers and terminal street and Metalica enter sandman. I hope thats ok with you. your music does NOT sound out of place in my favorite song list.
@@dirkbullet So pleased you enjoy it so much! You can also find a remastered version of this song on all of the big streaming platforms, on an EP called "Stricken Ships." Links in the video description.
@@rathoquarter thanks will have a look mate
Well, that's fucking perfect. I wanted to know if Aftermaths would sound great in my 7-string guitar... and I use a boosted 6505MH. Lol. Thanks!
Haha. Brilliant! Glad it was useful in some way. The 6505mh is such a cool little amp! I'd love to get the full 120 watt version one day but I don't think my neighbors would be into it. Enjoy the aftermaths if you get them. They've easily made this cheap guitar one of the favourites in my collection! I should have another video out soon with the same setup but one pair of guitars boosted with the Maxon OD808: it sounds so cool to my ears! Cheers. M
more expensive pickups than the guitar... we call "Belly button is bigger than belly" in Korea XD It means just same as "the Tail is wagging the dog" I think.
anyway awesome playing. I love it!!
Hahaha! Great expression! Yes it is a little absurd that the pickups cost more than the guitar but I guess I can always take them out in the future if I decide I want to put them in a slightly better 7 string. Thank you very much for the kind words and checking out the vid. Glad you enjoy it.
Awesome video. I have the same guitar, only I still have the original pickups. Great sounding guitar for the price. And those pickups sounded pretty cool. Are they active or passive?
Hey! Sorry for the delayed response. Only seen this comment now somehow! Yeah it's cool guitar. The aftermath pickups are passives but quite high output.
man, nice composition.
Thank you very much, Sir!
That sounds great, just ordered the same guitar, what tuning are u playing in, this is my first 7 string and wanting to know different things to try. Again badass
Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the new guitar. For this song I was in AEADEAE. I think I was trying to rip off the kind tuning they use in monuments and tesseract at the time... Although it is a little different.
@@rathoquarter nice to know, thanks man 🤘
Wow great mod! Are the pickup rings the original? I wonder if the BK pickups fit the original hole or if you had to grind it?
Yeah I started the mood myself and then realised I was going to need to reshape the hole in the pickup ring so in the end I gave it to a local luthier to do the work.
@@rathoquarterThank you my friend for the response.
nicely done ... bow tie.
Amazing composition. How would you compare the aftermarket to the stock pickups?
Thank you for your kind comments. I far prefer them. I have another video where I talk about the upgrades etc. That might be helpful in describing my feelings on the pickups etc
Will certainly look that up. I just ordered this guitar with the maple neck and wanted your thoughts on it.
@@omarkhan29 ruclips.net/video/dRuub4xZS4o/видео.html
Never mind. Found your video where you talk about this. Thanks anyways :)
Sounds great! What do you have wrapped around the nut on the Jackson?
Thank you! It's just a GruvGear fretwrap which removes additional harmonics ringing out above the nut.
Very nice. I like the song. U play in B standard tuning? My ears right?
Thank you! I'm pretty sure I wrote this one in a kind of weird version of drop A.
@@rathoquarter Thanks buddy. I am looking for a cheap seven string. Although i dont like black colour so im going for JS32-7 in Snow White probably (wish it had maple fretboad) . How are the tuners in ur Jackson? they keep tuning stable?
@@raphaelsmith4134 they are okay. Not brilliant but they do the job. I've certainly never tried replacing them. I'm pretty certain I'm going to swap the bridge and the tuners on this at some stage in the future. I'm more just trying to make do with what I've got at the moment. I think the js 32-7 is a good idea. It definitely feels slightly higher spec than this one. Thanks for commenting dude. It's appreciated.
@@rathoquarter Thank You too , cheers
how is d guitar so kleen??? i thought satin guitars were pretty much toast lol. cool dissonant lead stuff tho
Hey Kioni! I think the guitar might be a little grubbier now than when I first shot the video but it's a pretty durable satin finish and still looks great I think. Thanks for your kind words and thanks for checking out the vid!
Is that a Smith and Daughters Tee? From the restaurant?
Yes it is! Great restaurant!
Ratho Quarter was there 2 weeks ago with my girlfriend. We love it.
Cool! Which tune do you use?
Igor Kuryshev thank you! For this song I used the following tuning: A E A D E A D. It's partly copying the kind of tuning that John Browne uses in Monuments.
Hey man.Just saw your video I am interested in getting one of these and modding the pickups and tuners maybe. But what's your opinion on this guitar?
Ray Amukwaya thanks for checking out the vid! It’s funny: I’m about 2 weeks away from uploading a video giving my opinion on this guitar in more detail. I will say that I love this instrument and have no regrets buying it, but I did have a couple problems with it when I first got it. The supplier was able to fix those for free and I’ve been happy with it since. It’s not the perfect guitar but I’m thrilled with its sound and very content with its playability and comfort. If you hang on for a couple weeks I’ll have another vid up talking about it in more detail. Thanks again. M
Cool thanks man. Will be waiting for it.
I have it as well. Love it. Do the pickup mod and tuners. Working on mine as well
What abt fretboard bro thin or thick
Feels quite thin to me bro
hey what string gauge do you use with this guitar?
10-54 with a 74 on the low string. I’ve not restrung it in a while so I might have even gone with something a little heavier on the low string. It’s in drop A. That might seem a like heavy handed for that tuning but I just enjoy a chunkier string on the lower string
nice demo! did the pickups make a dramatic improvement?
Thanks mate! Yes they certainly did. I would strongly recommend upgrading the pickups. There was a lot more note clarity and separation (even with quite complex chords at high gain) than the Jackson stock pickups. I don't have lots of experience with bare knuckles but I really enjoy these. The JS22-7 is by far my cheapest guitar but I would say its one of my more addictive guitars to play because of the pickups. All that said this guys demo is outstanding and uses the stock pickups: ruclips.net/video/WhWxMNBtlTs/видео.html I'm also going to experiment with Fishmans and Bare Knuckle Juggernauts when I have a little more cash to burn!
thanks for the quick reply! It'd be cool to hear it with juggernauts in it
awesome song but how am I suppose to take some one that wears jean shorts seriously?
Hahaha! It was super hot that day!
