Bought the MAVIC 3 PRO w/RC PRO combo a week ago. I must say it's absolutely fantastic. The power & stability is incredible. Not to mention the quality of the gimbal & cameras. Looking forward to future firmware updates from DJI that will make this fantastic beast even better to benefit us all.
Great update video, and agree with you! What i would like as well, is that DJI will upgrade the waypoint mission, so that you can set the zoom levels using all 3 lenses during the mission
DJi is the apple of drone, they know they have the market so they wont just bend to customer review or requests, instead they will release another drone add these new features and make you buy it with the hype we all know that surrounds new drone releases. I initially wanted to buy the Mavic 3 Cine but held off and still kept the Air @s which I am still going to hang on to until probably the Mavic $ or Air 3S. I haven't seen anything that I would consider a significant upgrade yet and the Air 2s still more than delivers for my personal needs. If huge companies could give us an ear, I'm pretty sure they'd have more than loyal customers. But ultimately what Dji needs is solid competition, right now they dominate so they can do whatever they like within that realm.
I just returned Air2S for mini 3 pro because of regulations. So sad really. And slovenia has so much restricted air space, because we're so small and it's all controlled, and max weight is under 500g, and Air 2S has 595. So sad. Because of those 95g I had to give up, for what I think was the perfect drone for me. Truly sad. But yeah, played today with mini 3 and it's good too. Just ..not the same :D
If it was only 95g you could've got lighter propellers, and any 3d printing vendor could've replace the bottom aluminum plate(next to the lights and bottom vision sensors), that would've gotten rid of at least 95g
Had my Mavic 3 Pro a few weeks now and its awesome. All 3 cameras are fantastic quality and a clear step up from the Mini 3 pro. The Zoom lenses give options for a different perspective and its so good just being able to switch between them so easily. No regrets and well worth the upgrade.
@@DMProductions I'm sure the Firmware will follow. It helps that you are on the case and hopefully DJI will be listening and it will make the colour grading much easier for sure :O)
@@bsmayerr It's certainly louder than the Mini 3 but not a huge amount - it's actually quieter than I was expecting it to be. I generally fly in remote areas so its not really an issue for me. One of the biggest benefits of the Mavic 3 pro is its darker colour which makes it so much easier to keep line of sight much further away - I can see it 400-500 metres away where the Mini 3 is hard to see once I get to 100m.
You got your(our) wish, now all 3 lenses support Dlog-M @ 10bit. This certainly is great. I've just purchased this and love it. Good point about the battery too. Doesn't affect me in Australia, but that is something that would be well worth DJI doing.
The Mavic 3 Pro looks like a big sexy beast for sure! My Mini 3 Pro with RC, FMK Plus, ND filters, a few other accessories, is much simpler. It has plenty of features, creates gorgeous videos, will stick with that for now given my only needs.
C2 certification is the killer issue for me. Waiting for the resurrection of the Mavic 3 with 2 lenses and C1, together with new bundles like the RC control. Kind of what they did with the Mavic Mini that came back as Mini SE with the RC-N1 controller.
I'm in EU, and sadly even with "under 900g" It doesn't work in restricted controlled zone around airport and i'm not talking about 5 mile radius, but controlled area which can be like 50km . And in this controlled area you can fly with announcing flight and also under 500g. So i sadly replaced Air 2S which was fantastic to try out quickly, with now mini 3 pro. Happy about it's features and new controller tho and still waiting next 5 day for fly more combo to arrive :D. Cheers, nice videos, watched quite a few in the last few days , (air 2 s vs mini 3 pro kinda videos :p)
Its seems DJI is the Apple inc. of drones ..seems every year there is new drone of the same drone ..and every year our favorite youtubers always recommend the new one as the drone you must have.. but last year the other drone you have was the drone you must have.. drone dizzy.. great update ofcourse from this channel its one of my to go to for reviews.
Thank you 😊 I would argue that the mavic 3 pro is the best foldable drone available 100%. But if you need a smaller and cheaper version the mini 3 pro is still a great choice
I truly love this drone, tried it once and would buy it immediately…that said I think there is another small technical detail: it’s the 3 different sensor sizes. You are getting extra reach both by changing lens and by cropping, therefore the compression you get by changing camera is not the same as you would, for example, by mounting a 24, a 70 and a 166mm lens on a dslr camera. I’ve compared some photos taken with the 70mm and the 166mm from the M3Pro: a cropped 48mp photo at 70mm doesn’t look that bad compared to a 12mp photo at 166mm. Considering that the drone is already over 900 g I would have preferred to have two 1/1.3 sensors. I guess this is a marketing move from dji and M4 will have a bigger sensor on the 166 mm equivalent camera. This is one of the things that led me to choose the air 3.
Good point with the batteries to get the drone to a C1 but that's not going to happen I suspect. The Mavic Air 3 is imminent and I am convinced that that drone will get a C1 label and most likely also get a telephoto lens. I think that is also the reason that the Mavic 3 has disappeared from the scene.
Can the Mavic 3 Pro be used with an iPad and DJI Go app? Biggest downside (for me, at least) seems to be the 5" screen. Way too small when I've been flying the Mavic 2 with a 12" iPad for years now.
Seems like they are leaving all the real pro features for the Inspire series, however the price difference is too big to justify that. 3 classic seems like the best option all things considered. I'm not interested on a tele lens that I can't use professionally. Thanks for speaking up!
Very nice. I got Mavic 3 same time as Mavic 3 Pro came out. I love my Mavic 3, and to get a Mavic 3 Pro now id lose hundreds to make the switch since the Mavic 3 has plummeted in value. If they get a Mavic 3 Pro only option, and DJI Certified Refurbished, then it might be doable, since the price difference would be alot less then this moment. But again, loving the OG Mavic 3, thing is a beast!
As a later comment, the RC2 for the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro ... why would you buy a Mavic 3 Pro, because you know the next updated Mavic "4" Pro will use the RC2, and it might even use the same sensor for all the lenses, and it might even be lighter than 900 g.
@DM Productions Great content as usual!! I took note of you mentioning DJI no longer offering the Mavic 3 on their website. Makes sense; if you think about it, why would they have TWO cameras with multi-lenses, when one (Mavic 3 Pro) is clearly superior to the other? Plus, less inventory to confuse consumers with. This way, either a user would want something simple like Mavic 3 Classic, because they don't want to get off into all of the pro features and tools, or they're looking to do more professional and professional-looking work (Mavic 3 Pro) Once again thanks much for your review!!
Imagine dji release a new Mavic 3 Pro-3CS. What's the 3CS mean, 3 camera simultaneously. What a game changer that would be, and how far ahead of the field would DJI be if you were able to record 3 cameras at once
It would be pretty cool. It would work great if it had the crop lines of each of the 3 too! It would probably produce quite a lot more heat both for the CPU and the camera with all 3 sensors operating at the same time.
Doesn't the mavic 3 pro cine use the same codec across all cameras? If so perhaps that's why this one does not and maybe a reason why it may never get that firmware upgrade

Well thanks a bunch! I have been aching to press buy it now on this drone. Watched you video thinking, this would bring me to my senses. No, you didn't, now I want it even more!
Coming from the mini’s, the Mavic 3 Pro is just a beast. Did miss the Mi3P’s greater than 35deg vertical camera tilt while shooting the sunset last night. Like most things, once you have it, you kinda get used to it. I guess I’ll just muddle through. Thanks DM.
@@zhunimassa571 unfortunately, you can not. The gimbal will only rise above the horizon 35deg on the Mavic 3 Pro, while the Mini 3 Pro is 60deg. You can’t crop what the camera can’t see. Yes, flying backwards will tilt the whole drone, increasing the camera’s apparent tilt angle. Fine for video, not so great for static photos. This disparity is mute in most scenarios because the drone by design is above the surface/subject. My gripe is best classified as a nit picking personal problem , as both drones are pretty much astonishing. Happy flying.
I have the Mavic 3 and 2 Pro and will probably get the 3 Pro but I have to say something about the Hasselblad marketing hype…..Hasselblad were bought by DJI and so a big thing is made about that legendary brand but the classic medium format cameras that made them so well known always used Carl Zeiss lenses and then when they shifted into digital medium format cameras they were actually just selling rebadged Fuji cameras that in Japan were still sold under the Fuji brand. The luxury cameras that they sold in the early 2000’s were all rebadged Sony cameras! I’m not sure about their latest X series but historically they were not lens manufacturers so all the hype about their drone cameras is to me a bit of a joke!
It’s not really the manufacturer that matters to me so much but rather on the original M2H camera it had a larger imager than the standard one and a larger imager means a bigger, and importantly faster lens
Remember that this has been the case on Mavic 3.😢 Normal profile only on the tele lens. I wonder if it is doable at all to get at least Dlog-M on all three if they could not do it on Mavic 3 tele. DJI have known about this issue for almost 2 years and have done nothing about it. Just saying..
hello ; Darren do you think its worth the extra money to buy the mavic 3 pro over the mavic 3 classic my home was broken into and my mavic 3 classic was stolen the insurance is giving me the full purchase price back for it but think maybe would be better to put alittle extra money out and buy the pro what is your thoughts .
No but HLG is HDR so super bright, colours look great, d- log is very flat but perfect for pro colour grading , d-log M is not as flat and easier to colour grade.
Still struggling to truly understand if the Mavic 3 Pro is a a REAL upgrade over my Mini 3 Pro. Yes, the sensor is much superior, but the Mini 3 Pro video is absolutely gorgeous. The only major thing is the quality of the stills picture, which is quite disappointing with the Mini 3 Pro tiny little sensor. So, should I put 4.5K$ for a little bit bigger of a sensor (and a much heavier aircraft)? I still don't have the answer to that.
@DMProductions is it possible to compare the image quality of the still images taken by the 3 lenses? I'm a photographer rather than a videographer. You went into detail about the color profiles for videos. But for still images, the quality and depth of colors can vary also. Do all 3 lenses produce a "good" DNG file? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Incredible review! Just got mine in and have been absolutely loving it. My only gripe with your review is 10:35 THAT HORIZON BRO! 😂😂 don’t let that happen again hahaha
i'd love to buy this but i do NOT need another controller.. When DJI releases it in the "Drone Only" pkg, then I'll get it.. And I just got off the line with DJI sales service 5 mins ago and "it is not available in the Drone Only Pkg at this time". But it will be in the near future yes.. Can't wait cus this thing is Kill3R!!!
Different accessory bundles shouldn’t count as a different variant of the drone as the drone itself didn’t change. So, there’s really only TWO Mavic 3s now… the Classic and the Pro. All your video did is make it seem more confusing for those who don’t know instead of making it simpler. Those bundles are really just there to provide a lower cost option.
Here's a question... Do you think this is the last and greatest version of the Mavic 3 before the Mavic 4 series. If so, it makes sense to buy this one to use with your RC Pro. As I assume a Mavic 4 would use 04 transmission and render my RC Pro useless. Thoughts?
DM, When taking photos with the main camera, do you have any small out of focus/blurred areas on the photograph? There's a few posts on the DJI forum about it. It's more visible when taking urban shots. Thanks.
Great video! I'm planning on visiting the Alps next Summer and taking the M3 Pro with me. Is there an issue flying it in the mountains, far away from people? Will I need a special license/permit?
Good morning mate , very informative video , im looking to upgrade my mini 3 pro , cant decide between the mavic 3 pro or the air 3 , basically going to be using this up in the mountains in wales , the lakes & Scotland , carrying the extra weight isn't an issue , its the 3 cameras on the mavic that are swaying me towards it , any thoughts from personal experience ? Thanks in advance :)
DLog - M is darker and doesn't look as rich as D-log. The fact that they released this camera with no 7x dlog or dlog_m option speaks volumes. Save your money and purchase a used refurbished 2021 mavic 3
I bought mavic 3 classic three days ago and i thought should i change to pro .. then i checked the specs again .. just for the zoom no need to spend that much money ..
Just wait and see before you buy a new drone. Today I read the first rumors with pictures of the Air 3. 599 g and two cameras with the same 1“ Sensor-size like the Air 2S. Launch maybe end of June?!? The future king in C1?
Have to disagree about multi-versioning. If I'm at a position (having enough money) to consider buying a Mavic 3 XXX, I'd better know a lot about drones and what I need to do already. It won't be a difficult decision making then.
I am not dissapointed, but the RC controler surprisingly sucks compared to the smart controller on my former air 2s. I have problems with signal, and it is way too slow. Also not being connected to internet is annoyng when it wants to update fly safe database etc. The RC pro is really expensive and I feel for the money I paid for the fly more combo the included controller should be way better quality. It really feels like a video console from 90s.
I'm hopeful all of the camera can get the same or similar colour profiles, we won't see the same camera on each lens as will be impossible due to size otherwise it'll be as big as the Inspire
@@DMProductions that's true but not having the same colour on each camera and frame rates was a mistake imo. Thankfully i don't get to tech and colour grade etc but i can only image how hard it without be to make a film utilising all 3 cameras using 2 different colour profiles. Makes the 7 x useless imo although i wouldn't mind the 3x but my mavic has 3x seamless zoom and its decent enough quality until you get to 7 and no messing about in post
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the sub 900g thing is only applicable in the EU for C Class drones right? This is not really applicable in the UK as we don't recognise C Class drones so the A2 CofC would be required to fly in the A2 category if not it would be an A3 class drone regardless of it being a classic or standard Mavic 3. Same as a Mavic 2 Pro.
Can't DJI just put a Hasselblad badge on what ever they like at this point with a majority stake in Hasselblad since 2017? I've got no doubt that the Mavic 3 pro is phenomenal, but I'm not sure how much Hasselblad dna is in the mavic cameras.
The main reason I decided not to fork out the extra money on another same drone just to change the camera which is a silly set up anyway, is because they should have stuck to just the one main camera that gives you the 5k (would be better if it went up to 60fps too) but just added even up to 10x optical zoom on that. I would like a zoom I can slowly increase whilst still being optical and no sudden jumps like this overpriced mess they came up with. After you reach the optical max then it could go digital with an optical limit marker on a zoom indicator on the screen like with my compact Panasonic camera which goes up to 30x optical and would be compact enough to put on that done (after being stripped) so why did they not do that instead of flogging 2 extra cheaper cams and another same drone. Drone is good but does need moding for sure. I hope their Mavic 4 sorts this and also keeps the weight below 900gr and has C1 cert for EU use. Suddenly jumping to 3x and 7x does not give you a smooth transition like I personally would like, just looks messy like their camera.
@@user-zc2jx7hf3cAre you serious? Do you have stock in DJI or are you just being a jerk? You made comment about thought process without letting everyone judge yours by responding cogently.
@@DMProductions No, I'm thinking of a 2 lens setup. The main 24mm(4/3 cmos) plus the 70mm with a more capable sensor if only slightly and maybe even variable aperture like the main lens. 70mm is just enough to give that nice compression to really make it feel like a different shot compared to the 24mm.
The mavic 3 pro is labeled as C2 already. So its a A2 drone already and will stay A2 after january 2024. And the zoom lenses will allow to stay out of no fly zones

Really hope they could release dlog-m for the 166mm tele
Thank you for this great review. I'm sold on it.
Thank you, it’s amazing
It feels like they could give the cameras a firmware update to give them all d-log the same way they updated the mini 3 pro from 8-bit to 10-bit
I think it’ll happen 😊
Remember that this has been the case on Mavic 3.😢 Normal profile only on the tele lens. I wonder if it is doable at all to get at least Dlog-M on all three if they could not do it on Mavic 3 tele. DJI have known about this issue for almost 2 years and have done nothing about it. Just saying..
What video editing software do you use, what could you recommend for a beginner and on a budget?
Hasselblad name was acquired by dji, like im sure they got some lenses in the deal but its mostly a marketing gimmick..
Thank you so much for this report!!! Great suggestions!
Thank you
Another amazing vid always watch your vids for reviews and tips for drones helps me out a lot 👌
thank you ! more to come !
hello ; Darren
do you think its worth the extra money to buy the mavic 3 pro over the mavic 3 classic my home was broken into and my mavic 3 classic was stolen the insurance is giving me the full purchase price back for it but think maybe would be better to put alittle extra money out and buy the pro what is your thoughts .
I do mate the zoom lenses are incredible, sorry to hear what happened
Could you do a vlog about the difference in HLG D-Log D-Log-M ?
The mavic 3 pro beats the mini 3 pro in so many ways, much more than just the camera
i don't know where you shop but the mavic 3 pro can be had for waaaay less than $4.5k 😂
@@cameron6249lol riiight ? Where i am its 2200
Thanks again Darren for such a good, informative video.
thanks Mark
@DMProductions
is it possible to compare the image quality of the still images taken by the 3 lenses?
I'm a photographer rather than a videographer. You went into detail about the color profiles for videos. But for still images, the quality and depth of colors can vary also.
Do all 3 lenses produce a "good" DNG file?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Even the normal colour profile isn’t consistent across the three cameras on the main camera. It’s Hasselblad colour the others aren’t
sure but you can colour match them a lot easier. 8 bit is the biggest drawback with Norma tho
Incredible review! Just got mine in and have been absolutely loving it. My only gripe with your review is 10:35 THAT HORIZON BRO! 😂😂 don’t let that happen again hahaha
Have you noticed that you cant zoom in when using camera/photo mode on the mavic classic or is it just me??
i'd love to buy this but i do NOT need another controller..
It has a new triple camera , how has the drone not changed with that upgrade !
Here's a question...
Do you think this is the last and greatest version of the Mavic 3 before the Mavic 4 series. If so, it makes sense to buy this one to use with your RC Pro. As I assume a Mavic 4 would use 04 transmission and render my RC Pro useless. Thoughts?
Love this device!🙌🏻
I believe I would have to have a license to have this. I have a mini 3 pro and got hooked on flying drones.
DM, When taking photos with the main camera, do you have any small out of focus/blurred areas on the photograph? There's a few posts on the DJI forum about it. It's more visible when taking urban shots.
Thanks.
So the main camera is a 24mm F1.7 m4/3 camera, which means it is an 48 mm F3.4 full frame equivalent?
Great video! I'm planning on visiting the Alps next Summer and taking the M3 Pro with me. Is there an issue flying it in the mountains, far away from people? Will I need a special license/permit?
Good morning mate , very informative video , im looking to upgrade my mini 3 pro , cant decide between the mavic 3 pro or the air 3 , basically going to be using this up in the mountains in wales , the lakes & Scotland , carrying the extra weight isn't an issue , its the 3 cameras on the mavic that are swaying me towards it , any thoughts from personal experience ? Thanks in advance :)
does the 70mm medium telephoto lens shoot burst photos at 48mp or only 12mp?
Nice vid. When it comes as a drone only option I will buy one.
Is there a range difference between the two controllers when using with the Mavic 3 Pro?
They all shoot in dlog M now
I ordered a drone online about 24 days ago and is estimated to be shipped on 12th of june. Why does it take so long to deliver?
Are all the lenses active simultaneously?
Can you do active track on the 7x lens? Is it hard to manually track a moving subject with the 7x?
Active track works on every lens except the 7x
Excellent points! ;-) Thanks much, T
The drone in my dreams is the Mavic 3 Thermal….. unfortunately it’s way out of my financial league 😢
Awesome vid. Are you gona make cheat sheet for mavic 3 pro? :D
Certainly am - working on them now they’ll be a work of art
Great video, thanks 🙏
DLog - M is darker and doesn't look as rich as D-log. The fact that they released this camera with no 7x dlog or dlog_m option speaks volumes. Save your money and purchase a used refurbished 2021 mavic 3
I bought mavic 3 classic three days ago and i thought should i change to pro .. then i checked the specs again .. just for the zoom no need to spend that much money ..
I have one. Are you saying you can do active track with the 3x and 7x cameras?
Just wait and see before you buy a new drone. Today I read the first rumors with pictures of the Air 3. 599 g and two cameras with the same 1“ Sensor-size like the Air 2S. Launch maybe end of June?!?
The future king in C1?
Have to disagree about multi-versioning. If I'm at a position (having enough money) to consider buying a Mavic 3 XXX, I'd better know a lot about drones and what I need to do already. It won't be a difficult decision making then.
Excellent video
thank you
I am not dissapointed, but the RC controler surprisingly sucks compared to the smart controller on my former air 2s. I have problems with signal, and it is way too slow. Also not being connected to internet is annoyng when it wants to update fly safe database etc. The RC pro is really expensive and I feel for the money I paid for the fly more combo the included controller should be way better quality. It really feels like a video console from 90s.
Im glad i kept my mavic 3 tbh i will wait until the mavic 4 when all the cameras have the same specs and colour
Yeah definitely in the uk it’s worth getting the a2cofc
Thank you for the great video. Very informative. Silly question. Do you get the benefits of the Hasselblad colors if you use Dlog?
Yeah sure it just protects the shadows and highlights
@@DMProductions ok great. Thanks much.
Can't DJI just put a Hasselblad badge on what ever they like at this point with a majority stake in Hasselblad since 2017?
I've got no doubt that the Mavic 3 pro is phenomenal, but I'm not sure how much Hasselblad dna is in the mavic cameras.
They’re not yet compatible with Pix4D capture 😔
Suddenly jumping to 3x and 7x does not give you a smooth transition like I personally would like, just looks messy like their camera.
at least it's not as messy as your thought process...
@@user-zc2jx7hf3cAre you serious? Do you have stock in DJI or are you just being a jerk? You made comment about thought process without letting everyone judge yours by responding cogently.
I'm waiting for 12 camera drone.
3 not enough
Mavic 4 with 4 full frame sensors attached lol
DJI Camera, Hasselblad color science only. Processing only.
Good 1 Darren
Can you please do a tutorial of editing the video please
Don't forget about the cine version 😁
Cine version is great if you need for pro level work or need pro res for easier editing
Love all your content and all I have to say is RAAAAAAIIIIIIDEEERRRRS!!! ☠️
Haha thanks bro
@@DMProductions 🍻
In the US you are going to need your part 107 for any use other than 100% recreational flying. No way around this.
Does it allow recording of all three cameras at the same time?
no way...and if so it would be a headlining feature. would be amazing though, pricey upgrade for that however if it ever showed up
Thank you!
Scrap the big telephoto to free up room for bigger sensor on the medium zoom lens.
instead of tele lenses would you prefer a full frame 1x Lens?
@@DMProductions No, I'm thinking of a 2 lens setup. The main 24mm(4/3 cmos) plus the 70mm with a more capable sensor if only slightly and maybe even variable aperture like the main lens. 70mm is just enough to give that nice compression to really make it feel like a different shot compared to the 24mm.
Weight is not the only problem for the drone in the EU, after 12/31/2023 it will only be allowed to fly in the A3 subcategory, right?
The mavic 3 pro is labeled as C2 already. So its a A2 drone already and will stay A2 after january 2024. And the zoom lenses will allow to stay out of no fly zones
👍
Nice info bro
🙏
The >900g weight is the problem for me.
