    Thanks so much Alex! Great video - really clear and accessible. One question: instead of one portfolio with multiple etfs I just have multiple etfs in their own separate portfolios. Is this an issue?

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  28 дней назад

      Great to hear video helped! Regarding your question, this is not an issue at all - it's just a matter of user experience preference is your prefer to have all etfs in one portfolio or in separate portfolios.

    It’s worth noting you really want to avoid small funds or ones which aren’t traded often. The buy sell cycle is slow and need to expect a week but that’s why it’s free. The managed isa isn’t that great and you will quickly want to do your own.

    • @travellerseko
      @travellerseko 6 месяцев назад

      Which platform has the best managed ISA? I literally don’t have time to deal with tinkering with ETFs etc. I need a managed account. What’s your recommendation for small-sized investment?

    • @coderider3022
      @coderider3022 6 месяцев назад

      @@travellerseko if small, invest engine with either VWRP or SSAC with some VAGS depending on your risk, age and time horizon. Otherwise your looking at a multi asset fund like life strategy fund on vanguard site in an isa to start then move or change as you get comfortable. You don’t need 99% of those ETFs on investegine.

      @@travellersekoI don't think anyone has done a video on what the best managed portfolio is.
      I know many are expensive. AJ Bell and Barclays are ridiculous fees.
      I haven't seen a better one than investengine.

    Hi,
    I am an international student and relatively new to uk.
    Am i eligible to open a S&S isa? If not Is GIA good on investengine?

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Tom, thanks for the comment.
      Your S&S ISA eligibility depends on whether you are a resident in the UK for tax purposes. If your student visa allows you to work in the UK then chances are you will count as a UK resident for the purpose of tax. If not, then GIA is still a good option on InvestEngine .
      Plus, they are running an offer at the moment where you can get a bonus of up to £50 when you invest at least £100 with InvestEngine by clicking on this LINK and selecting get started (top right of screen): investengine.pxf.io/dovdV3

    Hi Alex.
    I want to move a small DC pension to a draw down. Take the 25% tax free and invest the rest in the draw down. Is this InvestEngine a good option do you think? Cheers

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  26 дней назад

      Thanks for the question. I understand that InvestEngine SIPPs are designed for accumulation only at this time, meaning drawdowns cannot be actioned self serve via your dashboard, and instead would require IE to facilitate this upon request, leading to it becoming fiddly.

    • @LewieLeway
      @LewieLeway 23 дня назад

      @@alexfinanceuk I've also discovered they still (after many months of promise) do not facilitate the transfer of pensions to their SIPPS! That rules me out anyway. Vanguard will only allow drawdown if it isn't managed. I'm not up to speed on that yet. So my options are becoming limited. Looks like Pension Bee. A tad higher fees but a simple process. I believe I can transfer out to another provider in future for free if I decide to manage it myself.

    How do the EFT fees work? Do they take it out of the invest engine account? Also, I want to find out more about investing. Where is the best place to start for research (like books or websites)?

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment Brandon! The fund provider (e.g. iShares) tends to directly take their fees from the fund itself. On IE you should be able to see the % fee.
      Lots of good books, resources and RUclipsrs out there but here's a few (non exhaustive!) I like:

      RUclips: Damian Talks Money, The Humble Penny, Toby Newbatt

    Hi Alex, can you buy the EFTs in euro? I am an Irish man living in London. I will be returning to Ireland in the future and wasn't sure what the best way would be to invest using invest engine.

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Michael, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately IE is UK only. As a UK resident, you can open a General account even if you move to Ireland at some point. When you have moved to Ireland you will not be able to fund or trade on the account.

    Another question. Can you add EFT's to an existing portfolio on the app? I am trying to find out more about investing but every time I google stuff or watch videos it's people recommending apps. I really like the look of Invest Engine as I am a complete beginner but don't want to commit until I understand about trading. I am just finding it hard to find sources.

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  5 месяцев назад

      Yep you can certainly add ETFs to existing portfolio. If you click on the portfolio you want to add new ETFs, then scroll below the graph, you should see a component stating "+Add securities". If you click on that, you can add new ETFs and choose the allocation.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi Alex how do I invest in different DIY portfolios. I just added my first £100 as they said that’s the minimum amount but it won’t let me add different amounts to me different DIY portfolios

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. That's odd, as I understood it was only a minimum of £100 to open the account and not £100 per portfolio. IE also state here "our clients are welcome to have any amount of funds in their DIY portfolio" shelp.investengine.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4910265590301-What-s-the-minimum-maximum-I-can-invest Maybe worth checking with IE directly on that one.

    How do I buy fractional shares on investengine?

    • @alexfinanceuk
      @alexfinanceuk  Год назад +1

      Hi - thanks for the question. You can fractionally invest in ETFs on InvestEngine by just choosing any ETF and choosing how much you wish to invest. Unfortunately, InvestEngine do not offer individual shares (only ETFs) so you can't buy fractional shares on their platform.

    • @coderider3022

    I want to start an investing, but doubting if it’s prudent considering my residency and if can I ever expect a return in 2 years?
    What would you recommend?

      Thanks so much for the comment. Glad it was useful. When investing, it's typically wise to look at a timeframe of 5 years plus for a good return. I believe you can't contribute any more funds in the account when you leave the UK, but can keep existing funds in the account, so you could follow this approach (worth double checking the rules around this) and leave your investments there for 5 years plus to give yourself the best chance of a good return.

    Ask them what you need to do if you are dealing with one of their customers death and you have probate and then compare it to any other financial institution…imagine being the bereaved…always worth asking such a question….

      I’ve been through a situation like this with ajbell. You basically need to wait until legals run to end. E.g. you won’t get control of this quickly. Banks are different and not comparable.

      How about. Death certificate for the deceased who held an account. A copy of Will/Probate. A copy of the executors ID (passport or UK driving licence) as well as a selfie holding the same ID to prove they are the executor of the Will. Also a bank statement dated from with the last 3 months, for where the monies should be forwarded.
