- Gyp Rosetti rues his father's life as a bricky and not a fisherman, then cheers himself up with a game of whack-a-mole. Season 3, episode 10.
Owned by HBO. - Развлечения
It's cool you can see even Gyp's own men are shocked by this killing. It really shows how, given the chance, they'd all betray him in a heartbeat. They're not loyal, they're terrified.
Feared or loved

Gyp Rossetti the Italian Tuco Salamanca
Good analogy
"NOBODY......runs booze from AC to New York except for me bitch !"
He reminds me of Nicky Scarfo, just as ruthless a killer when he was the boss of the Philadelphia mob. He ordered his own Godson killed.
You’re smart!!!!!! Do that thing where his head is out back together!!!!!!!
It's like - the chaotic evil villain, psychotic and menacing like Tuco Salamanca or Gyp Rosetti, can be very intimidating and dangerous, but they last for a short time. In the long run they are no match for the well mannered and soft spoken neutral evil, like Arnold Rothstein or Gus Fring.
"you owe me" you mean like a knife in the back kind of thing.
That's one debt that got paid off...
@@flankspeed yes and then the debt for Billie Kent was finally paid too in 1931. Nucky warned Tonino not to come to AC again. Especially looking for a job.
Sorry,but I gotta

The one thing I loved about Gyp was just how chill the dude was. He always took things in stride and you'd never really see him get too wound up about anything. If there was an argument, why you could always count on good ole Gyp to be the level headed one who would, listen to everyone's concerns and then explain to his men his thoughtful resolves for the matter.
I agree. I don’t even know why the video says that gyp killed the guy. Gyp clearly dropped the shovel on the poor man’s head while trying to help him out of the sand like the good person he is!
@@jerrypierre7825 ....See right there, exactly, Gyp was the first guy on the scene to help out.

@@jerrypierre7825you watching same show Gyp was most vilotile hot head short fuae ticking time bomb maniac always lose temper go into psychotic violent murderous rage
I thought I was the only who thought he was misunderstood. If only there were a lot more men like Rosetti that existed this world would be a much better place, albeit with a lot less people
And with that very shovel, the terribly insecure Gyp Rosetti not only killed an innocent man, but dug his own grave.
Gyps death was far too quick and easy ... he should have suffered hours for this poor chaps murder alone ...
Not only Tonio did kill him, Gyps other man let it happen, guess fear does not make loyal subordinates. :D
Burn Bobquist it does but if there’s a chance to end that fear for good they won’t stop it
@Roger B theres no true loyalty in the costa nostra, even if he didnt kill toninos cousin if it was Gyps time, they would of sent tonino to do the job anyway..its usually the one you trust like your best friend or family in the mob..its among the italians real greaseball shit
@@squakrock It doesn't mean all his subordinates feared him. At this point it became personal for Tonio. If Gyp was not protected by Masseria who was the real boss. Tonio would have killed him right then and there i believe.

"He's my mother's brother's kid".....seemingly the word "cousin" didn't exist in the America in the 1920s

It’s the same word in Italian
Smartass
It allows to highlight the blood link sir
Gyp’s idea of kindness and respect is beating a guy to death with a shovel until his head is detached from his body to avoid allowing him to remain buried until the tide eventually drowned him. Total sweetheart move in my opinion ❤
I know. People don’t appreciate how wholesome this moment is.
Throughout all of Boardwalk Empire, no one even once said, "Myah, see?". I feel cheated.

Even Gyp's own henchmen jumped at what they had to witness.
I knew Tonio was going to kill Gyp after this. He fail to listen to what Joe was trying to teach him what was loyalty. You can't go around doing whatever you want just because you are the boss. Rosetti own soldiers looked at him with disbelief. Being the boss doesn't make you immortal, but loyalty and respect can keep in you in a position of power for a very long time.
Loyalty and Respect means very little when power and greed are involved.
+RiftRaft123: Tonino didn’t kill Rosetti because of this.
He would've though had it not been for Nucky.
Except when Tonio killed him it seemed he regretted it not what one would expect for hating / holding a secret grudge
The interessting part in Gyp death was not only Tonio killing him, but although Gyps other men did nothing to safe him. Everyone was glad he was dead, even his own men. He had no loyalty, the only reason they worked with him was fear, as soon as they had the chance to get rid of him they did that.
What many people do not realize here, and what took me another go to see it for myself, was that in Gyp’s sick, twisted, psychopathic state, he genuinely believed that by bludgeoning his cousin to death with a shovel, he was doing Tonino a big favor. Gyp wanted to bury him in the sand like that to be tortured by the tide, the crabs; to die slowly and helplessly. Instead he ‘took pity’ on Tonino and gave him a ‘quicker’ death. Hence the “you owe me” comment afterwards. Seriously one of the best and underrated villains in TV history.
That makes sense. Awesome insight. It reminds me of the creepshow 1 movie.
So deep so smart
Go back to The Sopranos comments and get your fuckin shine box
I think its obvious
You are gay
Your mother's brother's kid, whatever happened there......
He probably would’ve really solidified his position as leader had he let Frank go. Would’ve simultaneously instilled fear and respect into his subordinates’ hearts.
Lack of restraint, that was Gyp’s problem.
Like how Schindler tried to convince Amon
I wish Franco got one more comment about rogue waves in.
"Please Mr Rossetti, if a rogue wave comes while I'm buried here!"
"What was that?!"
"Nothin.. I'm sorry.. I'm just sayin, if a rogue wave were to hit the beach while I'm buried here.."

"You owe me." - genius level writing
I love how gyp says you owe me like I just did you a huge favor. His character was one of the best in the show he got offended by everything. He thought everyone was insulting him.
And you love him like a god. smh How depraved Western society has become.
After this scene, I was so happy Gyp got wacked
Jessica Cortez you had no business watching this show kid
Cannavale's Rosetti was the most interesting character in the series and actually generated higher ratings for the show during his segment. He was the one persona that I wanted to know more of, in particularly, his bizarre family dynamic living in a small apartment with 5 women, his wife, 2 daughters, mother-in-law and a grandmother along with his sexual fascination with erotic asphyxia. He should've stayed on the show till the end.
Gyp was a lot like Ramsay Bolton. Entertainingly over the top vicious but with limited story arcs. Each character exited his show at the right time.
@@dlxmarks The show would have lasted much longer though and actually made a full 8-10 seasons if they would have kept him around ...
Cute photo. Live long and prosper
Gyp was going to let the tide come in and let him drown. Instead he made it quick and just bashed his brains in. That’s the kind of respect you get from Gyp Rosetti.
Well, Tonino did say "anything". Gyp took it too literal, to a morbid extent.
Poor choice of words
@@mikefitz2124 well, of course you must know I was being factious, tongue in cheek with my comment. I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I posted that. Completely forgot about it.
You must also know, I was quoting the joker from dark knight

I couldn't believe Tonino said, "I'm sorry" as he stabbed Gyp in the heart. He should have been loving every moment. Or better yet, he should have said, "Now you owe me."
@GravityLee He wasn't apologetic at all. It was a sarcastic "I'm sorry, I got it" as he stabbed him the second time, like "I'm sorry I didn't get the first one right, here's another stab"

It's only befitting that Tonino ended up being the one who physically killed Gyp in the end. So in a way, what Nucky ordered him to do was just icing on the cake, because I'm sure deep down he wanted to avenge his family but never had the gull to do it until the end. We all expected Nucky to be the one to do it, but it ended up being someone who actually had a personal reason to do so. Very befitting and a good choice on the director and or writer's part.
If your alive. Nucky had a personal reason too.
He owes him a shinebox.

This is my favorite Gyp scene, the belligerent nostalgia about his bricklaying dad 😂
There was a small inconsistency.
Gyp says his dad was a bricklayer.
Even in Sicily that's a decent living.
But he also claimed that they lived in a literal cave.
Imagine someone doing something terrible to you then having the nerve to say "you owe me" afterwards. He was begging to get stabbed in the back after that. Literally.

that's a shitty way to go.
+maroDC5 Considering that he was probably gonna leave him there to drown when the tide came up, I suppose Gyp figured he was doing him a favor, killing him quickly.
This was the beginning of the end of Gyp Rosetti.
Gyp: You owe me..
Tonio *Goro's voice*: HERE'S WHAT YOU ARE OWED!!
1:44 Tonino responds “you know how it is” and based on what we saw with Gyp, he knows all too well. Maybe in his sick mind he thought he was doing Tonino a favor by killing a loud mouth, something he deals with with his own family. Then says “you owe me” as if he did him a favor
This takes the notion of 'defenceless victim' to the extreme.
even his own men got sick and lost loyalty here
This is the scene that makes Gyp’s death at the hands of this guy so meaningful. What a total psychopath.
Gyp makes Marlo Stanfield seem not so horrible
Oh, THAT kind of beachhead!
Quasimodo predicted this.
They should have known that when Gyp had the shovel that it was going to end that way. Something tells me that Gyp Rosetti is not the diggin type.

I bet if Tonino pulled his piece out to kill Gyp in defense of his relative , the henchmen would of let it happen , the henchmen looked disgusted with a look on there faces saying "really dude !?"
Out of all the deaths in Boardwalk Empire this one was the most brutal I seen, he beat the hell out of that mans head that’s as vicious as it gets! I had to turn my head when I first watched this scene!
IDK that homie Eli killed in his garage was pretty fucking brutal as well.
“You owe me”
Yeah Gyp, just make sure you don’t turn your back to him when you pee
His own physical strength and ignorance was his weakness. Like that saying a Great Boss will always hire someone smarter then him. Gyp didn't like to be corrected. It made him feel incompetent.
Cause he was uneducated and knew it lol
No....cuz his own wife berated him and made him feel small

That cranium is remarkably intact for ten heavy blows with an iron shovel. Shoulda split like a pumpkin by the third whack
The way he's talking about his father's work as a bricklayer reminds me a little of Chalky White talking about his fathers skills as a carpenter - lived poor, died poor, but worked hard and did good work, even though he died young, and although Gyp and Chalky both want more out of life and are willing to lead a dishonest life to get it, they're both proud of their fathers work. I think even when he mentioned his father coming home smelling of sweat there was some pride in his voice, like a 'he did mens work, real work'. That could just be me though
Gyp isn't proud of his father's work, he's disparaging him for working too hard and dying early. He doesn't mention his father's skill just how he would have lived longer as a fisherman. Yeah because fisherman in early 20th century Italy was a safe job.
I loved Gyp, the perfect hotheaded gangster. These kinds of gangsters have a quick expiration date.
Astroterrestrial would you?
With his goo goo googley eyes
God he was a great character.
I want to believe that Gyp had a complete psychotic break and thought he actually dug him out
This pretty much had the employee moral boosting as Stannis burning his daughter. Once you men see you as a loose cannon who is willing to attack them for the slightest slight then you will loose the trust and loyalty of those men. There is discipline and then there is being a lunatic like Gyp was here.
When Gyp mentions his Father you’re in trouble!
Home boy was flying way too close to the sun all fucking season but this was the point he finally burnt his wings. Dude was way too much of a loose canon for being as low on the totem poll as he was! Glad his second hand man was the one who killed him.

Hah the title to this vid is great
He should have gone Defcon 5 right there and right that time, "Scarface", final scene, bazookas under each arm, "say hello to my little friend!"

I like how the character of gyp is introduced to us wearing nice suits, his attitude and his inferiority complex setting up his struggle to become more then the commoner he was born as, and yet when the character "passes on" he's in popper like attire, out of his mind and left like trash himself on a beach.
