Listening to this man charismatically try and talk himself out of this situation is so entertaining
Lol he's faces
“You can’t fire me, I quit.”
😆😆😂😁👏
"You can't quit you're fired!!"
"...at an unsettled hour" kills me every time
I remember Howard mom
Kills him too..
"and raise my hands, i guess." lmao
Ricardo Tolbert 🤣
You can clearly see this side of the law is not his forte.
it's funny that Steven Root stumbles into the show and suddenly everything turns all Coen Brothers-y.
Coen!
That mistake is what made Bill Murray sign up for a shite film
I always wanted to see them direct an episode or 2 back in the day.
It seems like exactly the kind of situation that Fuchs would get himself into and talk himself out of
the very subtle smirk at the end is why this guy is a great actor
"He did my job, for free!"
Easiest 5 million dollars ever
Stephen Root always does a great job of being having been caught in some act of treachery and not knowing what to do.
Just like in real life
"I'm putting this one on my resume and hope no one asks too much."
The real Gaston Means lead an absolutely crazy life and having Stephen Root play him is just grand.
I just looked him up and they look very similar, great casting
"I never actually have...brought down the curtain. That is a hanging offense after all"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanging
still trying to manipulate him LMAO
"Let me show you how easy it is."
I mean he wasn't lying; Gaston killed him without even having to hold the gun. Can't imagine it being any easier than that.
Let me show how easy it’s is! He shit in his pants for nothing! Jajajajaja
Easiest $40k he's ever made.
@@TimnParks
Probably what he was thinking with that smirk at the end.
some people just have to nod and others die
well that was a freebie
These are the fever dreams of a restless imagination lol
bmillerdrums One of his best lines. The way he speaks and words he uses are brilliant.
I’m going to say that when I get caught cheating
@@bunyonfirewood I’m going to say that when the judge accuses me of selling cocaine 😂
Only it really happened
Something Joe Biden would say
"These are the fever dreams of a restless imagination"
"Oh well in that case... Wait a minute..."
now that's some gaslighting
It's hard to believe that's the same guy who played Milton in Office Space.
He's a fairly versatile character actor
The surprising thing is these two dudes and this very incident is actual history.
Really?? ...ha!...
2serveand2protect Yea. But it was never figured out who actually killed jess smith. Possibly means or another working for the ohio gang (harding administration).
@KAV SOLO I also am dumb enough to be manipulated by GRU disinformation campaigns.
@@BigMikeMcBastard what lol
@@BigMikeMcBastard ...or... maybe the guy was just making a silly joke
Free $80,000 for him I guess. From both Nucky and Harry, 40 grand a piece.
He didn't even have to waste a bullet. And he'll probably get a bonus for "making it look like a suicide".
The perfect assassin...never fires his own weapon
For those of you who don't know Stephen Root (Gaston Means in Boardwalk Empire) is also the voice of Bill dauterive in King of the Hill, the guy is very talented
He also does Buck Strickland as well.
He's awesome on Newsradio, too.
And he's the blind man in Get Out
And his ex wife gets all the money from his talents
PublicEnemyStudios milton from office space
easiest $80,000 made by Means $40k from Shooter McGavin and $40k from Nucky. didn't even have to pull the trigger.
I never actually have brought down the curtain! It is a hanging offense after all!
Stephen Root is a phenomenal actor.
It gets a little complicated, though as were the actual events (of which this is based). Gaston Means, the "assassin", is a confidence trickster/conman/murderer who was influential during the "Ohio Gang". Check out his wikipedia for some fun reading. Jess Smith, the suicide, was a member of the Ohio Gang, and Harry Daugherty's key man. He becomes increasingly paranoid as his/Daughertey's corruption is investigated and thus a dangerous loose end that Daugherty needs to "tie up".
Milton's getting revenge for his stolen stapler
L.J Fitzpatrick Do you like kung fu?
Oh shit thats milton!
Gaston Means is a great character. Love his southern accent.
fuckin love Gaston Means in this show.
Jess Smith? According to Wikipedia, he was an aide to the Attorney General (Daugherty). "He had a desk at the Department of Justice, but no official title. He nevertheless wielded considerable influence."
"Smith lets it gets to his head."
I see what you did there!
2:14 : "well, that was a freebie"
Mr. Means was one of my favorite characters. Stephen Root is such a great actor.
I thought his character was hilarious too. Root's acting was brilliant.
Have you read about the real Gaston Means? If you think his character in Boardwalk Empire is shady, just look at his biography. He was a conman, a swindler, a murder suspect, and Hoover considered him the most dangerous criminal in the country.
Stephen Root- One of THEE great character actors of all time.
When the lights came on, I was expecting him to say "LENORE!!!!"
Why do you keep calling me BILL?
He went from a clerk demanding his stapler back, in the office, to a wise guy!😂😂
That wasn't a red swing line, was it?
@@charlescox290 It was!
@@SergeantExtreme well, he did burn the place down. Hard to get more gangster than that.
@@charlescox290 He told Lumbergh it was the last straw, he should have heeded his warning considering he died in the fire.
That there is a gun toting flowery worded southern gentleman
How bout some recognition for the way the video description is written?
Nice job, Yellowfolder! :)
Stephen root (Gaston Means) is an underrated actor.
Mckenzie .Latham yeah, that's why he turns up in just about everything
He is awesome.
@@bradleybrown8399 yes but tell me the last time he was nominated for anything?
William Kirby 2018. "Get out". 2019. "Barry". After that, I suggest you discover what Google is
@@bradleybrown8399 Why should I ? When you proved my point
FUUUUUUCHEESSS!!!!
-Barry
Means is a brilliant character.
He's like "well you just made my job a hell of a lot easier! Well i should get going now take care! I guess!" 😂😂😂😂😂
"How much is Harry paying you?"
"On a weekly basis?"
This show is so good at finding humor in situations that are not funny.
The Man in the High Castle has a busy life. Thought he could not travel, but he picked a damn good timeline.
This scene always gets me he just blew his own head in. I really didn't see it coming.
Gaston had a way with words
Root is so underrated. Boardwalk Empire. King of The Hill. Barry. No Country For Old Men. News Radio. Office Space (red stapler guy). Get Out. Could go on and on. Arguably the best character actor around.
Finn’s dad in Adventure Time, that’s a deep cut
Why, Jess, it appears your coiffure is in a state of dishabille.
Stephen Root is, and has always been, a master actor.
love his accent
"Or something. Smith lets it gets to his head."
That goddamned pun.
My man got paid TWICE for a murder he didn't even have to do himself in the end.
Wow! I really didn't see that one coming.
"That was a freebie."
-Gaston Means
that description is something else 🤣
The little smirk at the end, welp even easier lol
What an amazing scene this is. He knows he's fucked still trying to bullshit his way out of it. Great acting
Mission accomplished!
The hitman is the blind dude from
'Get Out' lol
boardwalk empire, true blood, o brother where art thou, office space, king of hill, etc.
Stephen Root no doubt is one of my favorites.
Damn staplers.
poncho899 Impressive how he was able to play milton and then a character like means.
Mission Failed: Successfully.
John Goodman would’ve been so great for that role
But then he’d literally be the cyclops from O Brother Where Art Thou
To this day, Gaston Means still wonders why Jess Smith even got out of bed.
Did anyone else die laughing at 1:28 when even though Jess is crying, he raises the gun back up to keep Means at a distance? I don't know why but I find it so damn funny. That aside I remember watching the scenes involving Harry Daugherty and his cronies and thinking "Where the fuck are Nucky, Eli, Margaret, Charlie, Meyer, Arnold, Chalky, Al, Richard, Owen, Johnny, Gyp or indeed any of the core characters or the show? Which by the way there are roughly 100,000 thousand of them. Now I have to care about these assholes? Come on."
I couldnt watch that show after Gyp Rossetti died, and I am the biggest Al Capone fan ever, but that 1 character wasn't enough to keep me watching past when the killed gyp they needed gyp for at least 5 seasons come on he was like the Karl Tanner of Game of thrones way super too Underated...
Franklin Sninsky You may want to go back to Boardwalk; season 3+ basicly becomes a Al Capone show with some Nucky filler 😂
@@FranklinSninsky
Wha? Gyp was an idiot. His only success was from being a brash idiot with Masaria's numbers backing him. Even when he had it all going for him (in a small way and forced living in a small shithole town) he got arrogant and told Rothstein which hotel (and room number) he was staying in....then promptly got massacred by a single man. Gyp was borderline crying with fear too...then suffered a mental breakdown because his weak willpower couldn't take the hit to his ego.
Gyp was pathetic.
One red Swingline right to the head. He just wanted to listen to his radio at a reasonable volume...now he’s going to burn the place down.
And out steichnyne in the guacomole
He reminds me of tom hanks in ladykillers
Or in green mile
Root was in that one too
Gaston the geezer.
Think you for saving me the trouble
Gaston could've easily been killed here...he did come to murder him in his sleep, but got caught. And Jess spared his life before taking his own. And all Gaston does is smirk before he walks off. What a total piece of shit.
Well that bow tied itself.
He was born in North Carolina. I've met a few people from there who talk like that. It's got rhythm.lol
We don't sound like foghorn leghorn despite Hollywood's best efforts
Sounds like the guy Milton from the office 😂😂
…it is him lol
Well, that was a freebie.
So strange to set up the bed as if he is sleeping only to catch the guy about to murder him to then murder himself
I Believe You Have My Stapler.
Stephen Root is always great
Milton...haha
*Brought to you by staples*
If you dodged a bullet you can dodge a wrench.
And that is the power of "Office Space" and Stephen Root!
Stephen Root is perfect in everything he does
"That Was Easy"
2:20 Great, now I have to set the building on fire.
Couldn't believe his luck.
if you are aking about means he worked as private detective for Harry Daugherty the Attorney General
Well that worked out well.
Bill deautrive be fucking up
“I believe you have my stapler”
One of the strangest events (portrayals) I have ever seen. As he walked out the door, I could almost smell the crap in his pants!
He’s that good..
Well that was a freebie
didnt see that one coming...
He was just looking for his stapler
1:41 That sounded like Dr Phil
Funniest scene in the whole show!
Lol this one and the Remus chase
Now that was easy money
I love Stephen Root
"When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk."
He was looking for his stapler
Well now we see why Fuches has Barry do all the work
It's a shame he killed himself so soon, he was my favorite character in the whole series
wtf
Yeah I figured long ago lol
The gun was my favorite character. Wish they did more with it. Yea those jokes are old and corney
@JustDeplorable that is exactly correct
@JustDeplorable and you have succeeded, I am now hard below the waist, and shall use my right hand vigorously
Stephen Root is the greatest most underrated actor of all time.
