Hoffmeister - University of Rochester ; Vitilevu, one of the largest islands of the South Seas is 100 by 60 miles ; Much of the Interior is mountainous and can be reached only on foot ; Fijian Villages of grass houses are usually clean and well kept ; Native chief donned best clothes to "act" before camera ; "Yangona" is a non-alcoholic ceremonial drink prepared from roots of shrub ; Native bearers can carry a surprisingly heavy load ; We descend the gorge of the Navua River ; Swift rapids interfere with picture taking.

My uncle is still alive today almost 90 was born around that time. Thanks to the Americans for preserving that footage. The quality resonates with age however it's gold today. Those in the film, none of them are here though but they are the face of Fiji to the world in the 30s. Thank you so much.
