I remember as a young child back in those days, it seems so surreal now, a totally different era than what it is today, there weren't that many people in Suva, people were buying with pounds and pennies, life was very simple and pleasant, but one thing hasnt changed people are still friendly, down to earth and approachable
I like that no loitering Sign at the Market, Buy And Move On, Volivoli oti toso sara.🤣🤣
WOW! I was just imagining my parents and grandparents back in that time. Life seemed so simple.
Wow i was born in 2007. I never get to see the past like this of my country. Thankyou ABC Australia. Your the best.
Fantastic. Everything looked clean and fresh.
Thanks ABC for sharing footage of Suva in 1960. Cherished memories... 👌🏼👍🏼
Beautiful how they live their lives during the 60s.
Immigrating from Fiji to Australia with my parents in 1967 aged 9, in my minds eye when reflecting on Fiji that is as I always see it.
Thank u again for all these beautifull memories of Suva city
I was a 9 yr young girl, selling “small coconut basket” in the market for those “middle man” to sell their cassava n sweet potatoes n other root veggies
There were no plastic bags
How times have changed
Everything we buy is from plastic bags
Now,I’m old,all them generations are gone Life was calm n peacefull n a lot of people were working so hard
Our parents to pay for our education
Thank u again
Its such a privilege being a citizen of this great Nation, wonderful viewing how our Fiji was like back in the days.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful video 🤙
I was born in the 2000s era but looking at the simplicity and way of life Fiji had, I wouldn’t hesitate even once to go back in time and live here…
This video truly touches every Fijian’s heart ❤️
Beautiful place. Beautiful people.
My dad was born in Suva in 1962! It's crazy to think my grandparents might be in the background of some of these videos. I wish I had a time machine to experience everyday life like this before I was born. :)
same here 1953 born in LAMI
WOW THANKS FOR POSTING
Loook how BEAUTIFUL, everything was back in the Good Days.
Growing up my Parents shared stories of these times(they were in their early 20s). Its really heartwarming seeing it on footage.
Thank You 💮💗
Born 1965 CWM Suva . That was beautiful. to take a glimpse of what it was like. Brought me back sweet memories of my happy grand parents.
A great little video brought back a lot of good memories
My parents must've been less than 5 years old when these beautiful footages were collected....I love this...seeing a moment in time we will never experience again ❤
Awesome days. Fortunate to have grown up those days
This is how 80s and 90s felt like when I was growing up there. Seems like from 60s till then nothing much changed.
As a kiwi with Indo Fijian parents, now it makes sense to me why their hearts yearn and ache for Fiji of the old days, look at the beauty and ghost charismatic it was as a South Pacific nation! Easily looking just like any city in NZ or Australia during the same era. Looking at Fiji now there is a strong difference though not sure if it’s looking as prosperous as you can see here in these video images. God bless Fiji, my ancestral homeland.
Because back than we were under the the protection of the queen
awwwww 🤗Watching this makes me think of my grandparents❤❤
Reminds me of my time .Williams and Gosling Austin truck, TA model Bedford truck and Suva Hospital Bedford S model Bus which i drove for Lautoka General exactly the same body by P A Lal Lic plate F548 300 cubic diesel engine.
It hasn’t really changed that much - lovely
Suva was so clean back in those days
Beautiful
Thank u for this beautifull memories of Suva in those days
I can recognise a lady in it
She was our neighbour in Waibau ,Sawani
A small “Fijian community of subsistence farming”
Mostly they were Lauans
I love the old Ward n the old buildings
Thank u so much
wow i didnt know there were so many palagi's in fiji back then truly more peacefull times
Because it was the colonial era Fiji was ceded to GB
It's amazing to see that most of these buildings are still standing

Looks like paradise. The whole world had so much higher standards and life was so much simpler back then.
Hard to see someone wearing a sari in suva today.
Thats because now they all want to look like Instagram models 😂🤣
Did you notice how much the sea level has risen since the 1960s

I'm from fiji

Wow things have changed
🕊💝🥥🌼
It's hard to see man having those hair styles these days.
Simple times...
In this video
In 1960
Ni sa Bula Vinaka - Namaskaram - toso Viti toso - greetings - to you - go Fiji go
Thank you for sharing this. It’s humbling to see my father Nikolasa Falekawa Fotofil in this video. My father was one of the police guards of the Presidential Palace. 🙏🏽🥹
Where is semi Dromunasiga
I wonder if any of these people are still alive today? Or if someone recognizes any of these people, just curious!
Fiji Airways?? Can anyone explain
Fiji airways was named air Pacific then it was changed back to Fiji airways and how it should be Fiji airways of those days. Suva then was one regardless which culture their off. Politics and hungry for power has changed this once beautiful oneness together with each other's culture and traditions and customs and true friendship. Miss those days of Suva
Always "ISA again
Now it looks worse and really dirty .
Did you ever regret getting independent…. Look at French Polynesia… people there got French passports, all benefits from France, free healthcare and education…. All social support You would be the same under British… was it worth it?
❤❤❤
