Oscypek cheese is typical for the Tatra Mountains so you should taste it in Zakopane but it's available nowadays everywhere in Poland. Katowice has much more to offer but you need a day there not just 2 hours, in this "slippery" weather.

The Christmas Market in Katowich was so fun to visit. The 1 hour bus trip was worthed :D
