  • This is an awesome micro-sized bit ratchet. I plan to use this in my motorcycle tool kit to replace several other tools in order to make my tool kit as light as possible.

The Icon set is identical right down to the case $49 / Facom is manufactured by Stanley Black & Decker, and Icon… the same lol

This looks very similar to the Harbor Freight ICON branded locking flex bit set. I would assume both are made by the same manufacturer in Taiwan, Hi-Five Products.

There are quite a few of these on the market. I’d typically agree that they’re all produced in the same place but the Facom and Usag brands are manufactured in Italy.

@@Casey_Schmidt Not necessarily. Since Facom and USAG are both owned by SBD, it is known that various hand tools are made in Taiwan for both brands. Multiple threads discuss this on Garage Journal. It is rare that non industrial tools for Facom and USAG are still made in the EU.

I have the ICON set, used it to asseb a large pellet fired smoker. It definitely made the job easier than using conventional screwdrivers !

@@polaroidandvans the bits in the Facom are facom high performance bits they are on another level of quality then the bits that come in the harbor freight kit

The ratchets in all the kits are almost guaranteed to be made by hi five but the bits in the Facom and usag versions are the facom high performance bits

Nice set. I think the hf icon isn't a bad deal though... if you can find it. Toptul, vim, deen tools, gearwrench... usag, and facom. I'm not sure who did it first. 🤔 ...i heard someone say deen, but i thought it was facom. Either way, thanks for giving us your take on this usag set. I've seen it online acouple of times while looking for the icon.

Thanks! It’s held up well so far and I’ll still give it a 10/10.

But can you use sockets or do you need special attachment for the icon?

Consider also TopTul GADW3401 same reference in a coffer.
As alternative for bits ratcheting and tight quarters you can also consider if flex head is not a strictly requirement:
Bahco 2058/S26 Ratchet Socket Bit Set; Topeak TOPEAK RatchetRocket Lite and Also Victorinox ratchet. or Finger ratchet/screwdriver like BluePoint FSDR or CalVan 108...
About T-handle spinners also consider a compact 3/8 to be reduced through adapters
Pit Posse (Based in UK) SKU: PP3311 (it is a 3 way bearing fix Spinner with 3 sockets in kit actually unique in its category) or if you want to go straight with ¼ dirive SKU: PP2801 (fix bearing but 1 drive on long side)
Some other good alternatives by Craftsman is the Mach series T-handle spinner also adjustable in different positions (probably discontinued) and MichaelPro also 2 ways, adjustable and more available on our market in Europe...

How did it hold up over time?
I'm about to buy it, but I'm waiting for your blessing.
    Great videos, thanks.

It’s been perfect. No issues on my end. It obviously won’t be as strong as a full size ratchet but it’s taken more than I thought it could.

I have the facom version of this and the bit is stuck in the head. Any idea how to remove it please?

You should be able to press it out from the back side. A little gentle persuasion can go a long way.

USAG, Looks like a quality set. 40 years from now you’ll be thinking; boy I’m glad I bought that when tools were inexpensive. I like your content, Casey. You are into everything. Quality editing also. Cheers.

Snap on isn't the only high quality tool manufacturer, and with quality comes cost especially for all companies in the us and Europe
