It's very important to know that this was only announced to the american public after the construction of the denver airport was completed

The Washington Post ran an article on The Greenbrier bunker on May 31, 1992. The Denver International Airport was finished on February 28, 1995.

I wonder how many swamp creatures can fit inside. That's going to be some good hunting when the dust settles. Ain't a single soul hiding in there that deserves to survive,.. they know exactly what's coming and they ain't trying to save anybody but themselves.

I just had the pleasure of attending a conference at The Greenbrier. Some of my training sessions were in the House of Rep's auditorium (Governor's Hall). The tour is a must if you visit.

I’m style Soviets knew about it much earlier than when it became public. In April of 1981 when I was 14 years old and staying there I was told about it from a relative that worked there and how easy it was to open the very heavy blast door.

i wonder if this was one of the locations mentioned in walter tevis's book "mockingbird". i remember the character asking about what some beds were for and was told something like "the great fire from the sky never came"

They stopped using this bunker the same year the Denver airport was completed. Coincidence? Maybe

There's a difference between a fallout shelter and a bomb shelter. Greenbrier's blast resistance wasn't adequate when it was built but the secret location made a direct hit unlikely.

yeah but with all the conspiracies about it, the "enemy" may decide to target it out of suspect. I'm glad they "spilled the beans". politicians are supposed to represent the people not serve their own greedy and power-hungry appetites courtesy of our taxes.@@NotJessH

Someone needs to turn this into a BigBrother tv series but with all the politicians in Washington… completely cut off from the outside world with no internet access. That would be a reality show the whole world would watch!!
