How to Create a Geometric Triangle Pattern in Adobe Illustrator

- In today’s Adobe Illustrator tutorial I’m going to show you how to create a geometric pattern using tessellating triangle shapes with a randomised colour scheme. This detailed mosaic effect is ideal for adding colourful backgrounds to your designs, or even as interesting abstract poster art.
I'll share a secret that helps to dramatically speed up the process by randomly adding colour fills to each shape automatically, and keep watching to see how this pattern can be processed to seamlessly repeat across an infinite area.

Nice, that scrip would have saved me a load of time. In 2012, I had this same triangle pattern to manually fill, multiple times with different palettes. (It took a while lol)
It’s the kind of feature you would expect to be included in Illustrator by default!

Hey, thanks a million for this. I can’t get the script to work though. After selecting the swatch and clicking the script in illustrator nothing happens

But does the script really work in the recent version of illustrator? I get an error message when i run the script. 🤷🏻♀️
I also get the error message: "Error 23: & does not have a value"
@@codyrothery I had the same problem. Did you try download it in zip file (green button with "CODE"written on it in the up right corner)? It worked for me.
To anyone having problems with the script: when you select all the objects > right click > ungroup
Then select again, chose color scheme and use script
When you use "Divide" it splits the lines into individual lines, NOT triangles. I think your method might be flawed or there is another step to recreate triangles?
I just keep getting error messages in Illustrator. Any ideas?

Is it the Script you are having trouble with or a different part of the tutorial?
@@spoongraphics The script itself was added to the program, but it does not work for me, I just just started studying the Illustrator, maybe I did something wrong.
@@4min328 Try to download the script in .zip format. I had the same problem, but as someone wrote here in the thread (thanks for that), downloading it in .zip will work.

it is beautiful, but how can i eliminate those white lines between the triangle after we remove shape stroke? its really bothering me
