This was such an era for MTV. It was great because as soon as you outgrew kid channels like Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network, MTV was there to fill the teen tv watching void. There were music videos to watch every morning and a variety of shows to watch throughout the day. Too bad they don't have much content nowadays.
My sister and I used to get baked af and watched Andy Milonakis show all the time. It hit different. 2000’s era of MTV is one of those “you just had to be there” kind of things, y’know
I actually met one of the bullies from bully beat down at a gamestop in Hollywood one time. Went up to him and asked if he was on the show. He said yeah and that he really wasn't a bully at all he was a pretty chill dude, and the so-called victims were actually really good friends. Also, he said they were all actors, but the fight itself was real.
Yeah the fights were real, my cousin had auditioned to be one of the bullies in the episode where the victim supposedly had his arm broken by the bully.
I was always in fav of the bullies. The bullied were always displayed so weak and nerdy, it triggered me Hard. And the whole concept was shit. Wouldnt it be better to beef up and train those weak and chubby suckers?
He was the host. And that's it. He never touched a car at all. Most of those "ideas" were the mechanics and producers themselves. He essentially was just a face.
I remember seeing them throw out a baby's car seat the owner used to take care of his baby niece and then made the backseat unusable but hey Xhibit was nice so fuk that literal baby's safety I guess 💀🤣
MTV filmed an episode of MADE at my high school between prom of my junior and homecoming of my senior year. My friend was the contestant and it couldn’t have been more wild. The producer recorded hours of our conversations in class, and used me as one of the “Posse” they wanted to follow. They wanted me to identify every student in every frame of footage so they could get release forms signed and not have to blur people out. I didn’t know all 2500 people at school but was treated like an idiot for not knowing everyone or for not wanting to spend hours going through every still they sent. Not to mention how my friend was treated for “weight loss” even though she wanted to be on the dance team. It was a classic Tracy Turnblad situation where a big girl wanted to dance. Imagine being cast on MADE to become a dancer and your producer shows up and throws you in boot camp to lose weight. She may have mentioned wanting to slim down in her interview but she very much wanted to be a dancer, and wanted to sing the anthem at the homecoming game. The episode is absolutely terrible because my friend didn’t take to the cookie cutter boot camp stuff they did with her. Also, the only clip I’m in after hours of being the producer’s unofficial assistant was one fake-ass take they made me do where they wanted me to “pretend like it’s the first day of school and she’s lost a lot of weight and you’re excited to see her”. They filmed “back to school reveal” moments months later because she didn’t lose the weight they tried to force her to over the summer. I was then in another MADE episode filmed at my college a few years later. I was one of hundreds of students in a flash mob. Don’t know who the MADE person was and never saw the episode.
They came to my high school too! The school gave them permission to come for one week but they were so disruptive that after one day they weren’t allowed back. They also came to a party, there was a sign at the door that said “if you enter you consent to being filmed and that footage belongs to ___” and a some other legal stuff. There were producers walking around with black tape covering logos on T-shirts and drinks, and they didn’t seem to mind the teenagers drinking. The girl that was the contestant was this popular senior, cheerleader, and she auditioned with the idea of becoming a competitive boxer. I heard she picked it thinking “oh this is shocking, it will get their attention” but then didn’t think through what competitive boxing entailed. Needless to say she actually did give up at some point, so it didn’t air, as they only air the ones that they can spin “successful”.
Wild Boyz, Viva La Bam, and Silent Library were my favorites. Me and my brother would always watch MTV and VH1 together in the 2000’s. Miss those times :)
Kelly Osbourne dating Bert McCracken of the Used was always one of my favorite things to see on TV at that time. Bert was such an insane individual at that time, and I imagine Ozzy was actually similar to him at the time when Sharon met him. So to see her shit talking Bert was just so damn funny to me.
A girl in my high school auditioned for, and was chosen for, Made! She never made it on TV though, as she did end up giving up. Her gimmick was that she was a cheerleader who wanted to be a competitive boxer… lol she knew it would get people’s attention, but wasn’t actually up for competitive boxing. I remember they were allowed to come to our school and film for one week, but after one day they were so disruptive they said they couldn’t come back again.

I remember when that FEAR show came out. The first few episodes were great. They were scary and believable thanks to really good production and editing. The later ones not so much. Sure being in an abandoned and "haunted" location can be scary AF when youre alone. But when youre walking around with 3-4 people, with multiple lights and cameras. It really takes away from that alone and afraid factor. Like the very first episode. The production crew always made sure to force the contests to either leave the safe room alone. Or if they went out in groups. Force them to split up at some point.
I got stuck in the background of an MTV Made episode (the celebrity personal assistant episode). They were filming a bit at a local bar that was called Johns Place. I got blurred out even though I signed a release, probably because we spent the whole time derailing filming. Fun times

i have sensory issues from my adhd, and just the thought of touching the edge of a piece of paper sends me into a neurological tailspin, so hearing you mention the paper cut scene gave me full ptsd war flashbacks.
When MTV FEAR came to the Moundsville Penitentiary in WV, they painted on the walls of the rec area without permission and for awhile after their filming the prison didn’t allow tv filming
I got SO EXCITED when you said you were working on a Nick GAS video. Not enough people talk about it and I've been wanting an in depth video about it for YEARS.
So much nostalgia! They actually filmed an episode of made at my high school. I remember my friends and I bugging the camera guy everytime we saw him. They also did a casting for parental control at my school, my friend signed me up and I got a call from some production assistant and I was just so confused, lol
Made came to my high school to interview students for a future episode. I don’t know if they chose anyone but it was a pretty cool experience to meet some people who work for MTV!
Loved this! The thing with Run's house is that it was in the category of reality shows about musicians families. The Osbourne's, Nick and Jessica, Being Bobby Brown (i know it wasn't on mtv but the trend was everywhere). The popularity of it prolly doesn't make sense without context 😂

Probably the dumbest show I’ve ever seen in my life, personally.
Someone didn’t watch until the end yet smh
@@JordanFringe94 😂
Fine then. Keep your secrets.
Really loving these videos. I grew up on these shows lol. 💕
Great video! I'm not sure if you have contemplated doing one on The Real Word/Road Rules/The Challenge universe, wouldn't be a bad idea to get your perspective & analysis from those shows too.
i forgot about exposed! i remember robot chicken did a really funny sketch about it that really summed it up, i never really watched Jackass and other shows like that but i grew up with MTV in general during the 90's and early 2000's for sure
My favorite MTV show was Tru Life. I just loved the documentaries about different people
I died when at 11:53 we had a second of Baltics representation and I saw a phrase in my language (Latvian) lol. love your vids
Always remember watching Jackass so much with my Family. Loved the show and the movies.
Holy shit… The “five bank accounts, 3 ounces, and 2 vehicles” reference.
I couldn’t not subscribe after that out of sheer respect
Thank you for validating my hatred for the Andy Milinakous Show. I remember watching it in high school and thinking it was stupid.
i have sensory issues from my adhd, and just the thought of touching the edge of a piece of paper sends me into a neurological tailspin, so hearing you mention the paper cut scene gave me full ptsd war flashbacks.
Mouth corners
When MTV FEAR came to the Moundsville Penitentiary in WV, they painted on the walls of the rec area without permission and for awhile after their filming the prison didn’t allow tv filming
I remember parents hating jackass because us kids would do our own stunts at home and it didn’t go very well sometimes lol
I got SO EXCITED when you said you were working on a Nick GAS video. Not enough people talk about it and I've been wanting an in depth video about it for YEARS.
I was 12 but you better believe I would always extra clean my room just in case I was selected to be on room raiders. 💃 😂
Nice to see a walk down memory lane. I can’t wait to see the future video on Nick GAS!
The Xzibit "difference between me and you" line was top fucking notch, bravo sir 🎩👌
“5 bank accounts 3 ounces and 2 vehicles” 😂😂😂
That Kenneth Copeland bit hit well lmfaooo
Love the vid! Would love to hear your take on scare tactics, that wild prank show on sci fi hosted by Tracy Morgan
That what's the difference reference was next level
Loved this! The thing with Run's house is that it was in the category of reality shows about musicians families. The Osbourne's, Nick and Jessica, Being Bobby Brown (i know it wasn't on mtv but the trend was everywhere). The popularity of it prolly doesn't make sense without context 😂
I worked for MTV in London during thus time...
The crew and behind camera behaviour was wilder that the output 🤷♂️🤣
Jackass is the greatest thing ever
Excellent video as always!
I was young when Fear was on, but I loved it & always watched. Such a unique horror show when horror wasn’t very popular.
Ah nostalgia...i relate to your channel man keep it up
