There's something hilarious about Aaron Setlzer & Jason Friendberg's only contribution to Scary Movie is a single fart joke that they may or may not even wrote.
It's not even the best gag in that opening scene. So many parts are more memorable - her choosing the banana, her slow run as she goes through the sprinklers, her being non chalant after the murder her "boyfriend". Her saying Shaqs acting was scary. All way better jokes than her fart joke.

Just a side note.. George of the Jungle was originally a 60s cartoon so I'd think the Brendan Fraser film was like a live action version of an old cartoon. Like Alvin and the Chipmunks, Josie and the Pussycats etc. But I'm not sure if the 60s cartoon was a parody of Tarzan or not. I'll just assume it was so it still counts lol ❤

I appreciate you highlighting the Wayans family as really influential. Not a lot of people I know even are aware of who they are because their not as famous as other celebrities, as they are Black. It's really well done. Thankies
Dude, what? Do you know who the Zuckers are? You walk around tomorrow and ask people who they are… no one knows. And not because they’re white, because they’re from a long time ago. Time passed, names fade unfortunately it’s not about skin color. That takes away from their accomplishments as well as the fact that she said their movie was extremely popular financially. Whilst Leslie Nielsens film from the 90s flopped both commercially and financially.
@@nicholasmarino7375 The difference being that the "Zuckers" only wrote crappy parodies in the early 2000's while the Wayans were huge for over a decade, and not only for Scary Movie. Hey there, just recently watched your great video and i had to say that the reason that these movies got so much popular during the late 00's it was also the time we were living, especially during the rise of the DVD and local DVD stores. It was something of a ritual were you would go to your local DVD store with friends on a Friday or Saturday night in your mid teens to rent a specific movie either it was usually a horror, teen movie or a parody comedy then we would hang in our place with ordering junk food (pizza or souvlaki (yeah greek here)) and also soda or beer when we were a bit older and watching the movies always making fun at all the references either good or mostly bad and they were a product of our time. Nowadays even the Scary Movies which I enjoy a lot i tried to eatch and did not laugh at jokes were I used to make abs of laughing out hard. Well i gues this is growing up or maybe outdated wereeas movies like Airplane, Naked Gun or the Monty Pythons still you watch them and laugh at the jokes. When the latest ones as mentioned got out the whole pardoy movies genre was already getting out of hand with the Internet and the numerous memes going out with making every joke or reference thus being not only so bad as movies but you know, in the old days we kinda enjoyed the ''so edgy bad it is actually good'' but afterwards we already got what we wanted throough memes iin the social media, therefore observed even more critically movies like 'Vampires Suck', Starving Games and the latest Scary Movie. Well we move forward and they were a product of their time !!

I'll just assume it was so it still counts lol ❤
ugh! that list on wikipedia got me SO many times with this!! it got to a point where i was like what even IS a parody 😭😭😭
The cartoon was a parody of Tarzan
@@milatequila I only remembered because I heard the song when I was little before the film and watched boomerang reruns. Lol.
@@trashbasket11 and the 2007-17 reboot has two wildly different seasons; with the second one being horribly inferior to the already so bad it’s good George of the Jungle 2.
You’ve got yourself a subscriber for life Mila! The aesthetic of this video, along with the camera and those posters around your room made me feel so at home and safe. I truly look forward to anything you’re cooking up for the future 💫
I cannot believe someone is covering this. Keenan Ivory Wayans is one of my favorite creators of the late 20th century. He absolutely carries the parody torch from Mel Brooks and no one talks about it. There is no one who did what he did during that time. I’m so glad you used the word “blueprint” because he deserves.
the effort, the topic, the way you put it together. really one of the best things youtube brought is your channel 😋✌️
Id argue one of the VERY few good things to come from RUclips in quite a while. The platform has been going dry for a while now for whatever reason. But this channel is gold. Possibly only rivaled (in my mind) by Hailey Elizabeth, and of course, Queen Bailey Sarian.
Girl you are brave for drinking that wine! Me and a friend finished the white bottle ounce and I've never been so drunk from wine.
I had that brand recently and it's now my go to. Cheap ✔️ boozy ✔️
I know she made a face but I've had shittier tasting wine 😂
@@justanothercutefreak oh its definitely boozy which one did you try? I believe they have the black label, white and a pink. I've had the black label and white before. And yeah, those definitely get you nice and tipsy.
Edit. I actually looked the brand up, it gets you so wasted cause its actually malt liquor, not wine. Lol, the more you know.
@@georgejrivera3388 I got both (black and white) and I cannot remember which I liked best, I just remember both of them tasting strong. And yet I downed almost a whole bottle in one night. (If my "self control" wasn't physically my boyfriend telling me to slow down and bringing me water I would have.)
I did not know there was a pink bottle so I have something new to add to my grocery list.
I got black out drunk drinking the black label one once and now just the sight of it makes me wince lol
I immediately felt hungover just seeing the bottle
YEY!!!! u r back!!! please do an mary-kate and ashley breakdown since THEY ARE SO ICONIC and they experienced a lot
💯
This video is a nice 2008’s nostalgia. The camera, the room, and the atmosphere. I dig it
Honestly it’s so dope seeing the Wayans brothers get credit for their influence on a mainstream comedy trend. Also love holding some Hollywood nepotism babies to their awful crimes against humanity😭 even as a 7 year old I knew those movies were barely funny
I remember genuinely enjoying Epic Movie and Superhero Movie when they came out but watching these clips is pure torture. Middle school really was a dark time for movies lol
Mila, I adore your videos. I love the throw-back vibe to the aughts aesthetics of my youth. I hadn't thought about these movies in YEARS and I was shocked that I did indeed remember some of the gags and scenes. I am so glad to hear that you have a couple internships lined up - go girl! I can't wait to see more of your content, but I'm also okay if you abandon RUclips to ruthlessly takeover Viacom and reboot MTV back to the golden era
Sad that you didn’t talk about Austin Powers :’( honestly one of the funniest movies ever, let alone funniest parody movie
Maybe because 2 out of the 3 films came out in the 90s
Those came out in the late 90s but either way, it’s so sad how so many people neglect them each time parodies are brought up :/
I'm also surprised she didn't even mention Spaceballs, which in my mind is one of the first big modern genre parodies
Mel brooks, too
@@Kjersten_w every Mel Brooks movie for sure. Young Frankenstein, The Producers, Blazing Saddles, History of the World, and the list goes on...
I was instantly sold on this channel within the first minute of watching. Good presentation and voice.
Giving Ursula vibes (even the gem looks like the necklace she keeps Ariel’s voice). And I am loving it!
I appreciate you highlighting the Wayans family as really influential. Not a lot of people I know even are aware of who they are because their not as famous as other celebrities, as they are Black. It's really well done. Thankies
It's not because they're black, it's because their movies aren't that good. Their movies are always just kinda there and ham fisted.
I live in South America and even I know about In living color (an actually good show, btw), My wife and kids, White chicks (which was huge here, same with the first two Scary movies) and Major Payne, to name a few off the top of my head.
So, not the same at all...
why do ppl gotta bring race into things smh you do know theres also white ppl who were famous in the early 2000's and no one knows who they are now right?? smh f off with your racist bs
Another Twitter using pulling the race card. Classic.
I literally told myself just now “I wish when there was a bunch of good RUclips videos to watch, my feed has been dry” AND THEN YOU POSTED 😩😩💕💕💕💕💕
I think the woman in the house across the street from the girl in the window that came out on Netflix recently is proof that parody can come back and it can be done right. Maybe now we'll get parody shows instead.
But…. That show is so bad
Yes, that and American Vandal, another Netflix show that parodies true crime docs. Not to mention What We Do In The Shadows movie and TV show.
what is that a parody of?
@@kittenwalks it wasnt
They haven’t confirmed or denied if it’s renewed (it’s been months)……. That’s not a good sign
Absolutely adore your insight and commentary. Every video makes me want to sit and chat with you about 2000s pop culture more and more!
"Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th" is a movie that nobody seems to remember. It was a really good parody movie made in 2000. I'm glad you made a mention of that cult classic. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves one day.
Joblo's recent video brought my interest back. The clips I've seen were hilarious. Also, that movie was what got Simon Rex to star in Scary Movie 3, which is the second best in the franchise.
gosh, the scary movies were so good. as a child in the era, I eagerly awaiting each release. the jokes went over my head and I didn't have the life experience to know if they were good or bad, but dang, so many fond memories. would never watch them again. I'm sure they're not that funny and built on the offensive comedy of the early 2000s, but I'll always have the memories
the wayans family are honest gems
Disaster Movie was beyond bad, but that "I'm fucking Matt Damon" song will always be a banger.
Please do a video revisiting the Jersey Shore and it’s impact on 2010’s culture!
Yes please. As someone who was born in 2004 I really didn't experience Jersey Shore or the phenomenon around it, but one thing I do remember hearing about Jersey Shore is how everybody hated it and that one Mad parody were they also combined it with Up for some reason.
A new jersian here 👋 I'd love to see it
it’s coming! she posted about it recently
Holy fuxk you predicted the future! Quick, tell me, will I be very rich, oh awesome, psychic one??? (Plz say yes)
That was way too specific to be a request
Vampires Suck not including the baseball scene is insane. It's literally the dumbest bus also best scene in the Twilight series, I discovered MUSE because of it. (Which I'm not proud now)
Don’t mind me listening to this like a podcast in my headphones in class. Interesting topic! Super excited
Scary movie 1, 2 and not another teen movie will always be my favorites.
Shes back !!!!!!! Thank god I’m always scared Mila be dippin on RUclips but she just be taking her time to make these entertaining ass videos
This is the best film content i have watched in a long time. Such an amazing analysis, amazing attention to the history, and as always incredibly engaging and entertaining. I can't imagine the work that goes into researching, writing, filming, editing, and doing it all top tier, but wow it shows. This was great!
What a fun video! I'm so glad RUclips kept recommending it to me, and even more glad that I decided to watch it. And what a coincidence - Scary Movie 2 is my favorite of the bunch as well! Going to have to poke around your channel and check out more of your content. Thanks for this fun and hilariously entertaining video, Ms. Tequila, and keep up the great work! 🖤
I literally just decided to pop by in the slim hopes you may have uploaded. The same way one might open and close the fridge 5 minutes apart from each other over and over thinking something might magically appear.
I have been blessed today, god is smiling on me, life is good the air is clear and I am at peace.
Similar thing happened to me with the Internet Historian a few weeks ago.
@@AirQuotes omg he’s the best
Good stuff! Missing is a ton of super funny parodies from the 80s, but loved the parodies you chronicled in this video. Your commentary is quick-witted, thoroughly researched, and doesn't treat us (the viewing audience) like idiots. Kudos!
omg the videodrome poster
Your videos are monumental to the post 2000s Y2K movement and they will be cult classics in history. You should be so proud of your work.
I was sad you didn't mention Mel Brooks but I get you wanted to focus on the specific 2000 parodies and their influences. I always thought it was wierd to parody Scream since it was a parody and was actually titled "scary movie" in pre production.
I think not mentioning Mel brooks really take a chunk of the history of the parody film.
Shhhh, she isn't old enough. (Plus it would be a so much better stand alone video. )
@@jaustill237 But she mentioned parody movies from the 1920s, and I'm pretty sure she wasn't around in the 1920s.
@@A-Dubs398 very true. I'm just assuming that she is far to young to have seen very many movies, and she's wasted most of that little time on Friedberg and Seltzer.
Well, too be fair the video isn’t very good.
Perfect way to start my day Mila thank you!
I was getting so frustrated because I couldn’t remember the name of your channel and RUclips wasn’t putting your content on my recommendations but then I found you and realized it’s because you NEVER post. Plzzzz just give us something once a month or something girl, your videos are so good
I love that your videos cover topics that were relevant in some of my most formative years. So fun to revisit these movies and shows!
Mila I love you!!! It’s like Christmas when you upload 🥰🥹
This is a blessing, I’ve watch the Amanda and Lindsey videos like 3 times each this week 💀
Don't Be a Menace is so underrated both in quality and influence. Ppl always mention Airplane when talking about parody, but rarely bring up Menace (which might actually be better)
You exude high levels of Victoria Justice energy 👏 (in a good and wholesome late 2000s type of way)
I really like the way this video was shot and edited... got an immediate subscriber
I really love the ZAZ parody films, Airplane, Naked Gun and especially Top Secret are some of my favourite movies ever. They also made a pretty underrated show called Police Squad which eventually turned into the Naked Gun movies

"Take my strong hand" most memorable line from a parody film for me

I'm ashamed to say I saw Vampires Suck in theatres with a friend. When it first came out if that needs clarification lol Said friend had a blast and I remember being so bored I was worried I was hurting their feelings. That's the only part of the movie I really remember. Was that how the last reviewer asks that I was supposed to feel awkward?
Really enjoyed the nostalgia trip, thank you.
You're such a cutie! I love your videos and always get excited when I get the notification that you've uploaded. Good content takes time and your videos are always so well thought out and researched. No rush mama. Keep doing what you're doing
Mel Brooks movies were some of the best parodies (Blazing Saddles,Space Balls, Men in Tights) you should try doing a video about those as well
Just found your channel and love it! Very “early Lindsay Ellis” vibes, and it’s great!
Do you mean like, Nostalgia Chick era Lindsay Ellis, or just her earliest essays?
Wow all I’m saying was were was my notification for dis well done once again!!! 😭😭😭😭
This was my first video of yours I have watched. I think you have new subscriber. Keep it up 👍
my favourite parody film is Black Dynamite. 10/10 comedy and I love the blaxploitation aesthetic of the 70s
you put so much research and thought into this! another Mila Tequila classic!
More than Seltzerberg did for their movies.
the first 2 scary movies are genuinely some of the best comedy movies of all time and im so serious....the wayans brothers basically built the new wave of that genre. literally so funny and creative, another example of black people and their impact on their respective industry. not to mention they're all so fcking hot😭
You should do more videos about some of the other parody movies too. Like a companion piece type thing to what else was going on then. This took me back to a time for sure, good video!
basically the Wayans brothers are the only one who can do parody movies correctly
This was a great video but what about Mel Brooks? He’s arguably the father of this style.
Seconded!
yeah i was going to include him but i wanted to stay on the seltzerberg route since those were the movies i was watching maybe if i make another i’d have to include ones like that and tropic thunder and stuff but idk if i’m ready for that discourse 😅😅😭
It’s just that he pre-dated the Zucker brothers. He started in the 60s. Speaking of the 60s. There are others i would put Blake Edwards in that category as well. Either way I really loved your video.
Came here to say this too! Spaceballs and Blazing Saddles are iconic parody films
@@popcornphilosopher Yeah huge missed opportunity considering, like you said, he's basically the father of modern parodies.
omGG she's back ❤
ahh I was just thinking of parody films of yesteryear the other day- this vid was very cheeky and right on target! great organisation and also you're naturally cool
This is a very good, fun, professional and informative video. Subscribed!
one thing i didnt know as a german kid watching these.. they literally changed and added jokes in the german dubs that werent there before. i thought the bad parody movies were better than they actually were until i rewatched them years after.
that’s actually so interesting! i’d love to see how they change the humor to fit different cultures/comedy styles. i didn’t even think about that!
YESS FINALLY A NEW VIDEO FROM THE QUEEN, Thank you🥰🥰🥰
It isn't a "parody movie" in the same way those in this video are, but 2009's Black Dynamite is certainly a loving homage to the 70s Blaxploitation films, affectionately mocking all of the genres main tropes.
Unlike most of the films in this video, it's actually very good.
The adult swim show was stupidly funny as well lol
@@matthewmcguire224 damn, I'm not sure I even knew that existed. Will have to check it out, thanks mate
That and Walk Hard - Walk Hard is so unbelievably well-made, it's genuinely one of the best comedies of all time
Parody movies could stand to make a comeback. Just don't let Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg anywhere near them.
I grew up loving George in the jungle and I didn't knew it was a Tarzan parody until a few years ago. Same with scary movie, they would play it a lot on TV and I never even watched the movies they parodied, I watched the Scream franchise for the first time last year
George of the Jungle was a live action adaptation of a Jay Ward cartoon.
A Haunted House is pretty underrated. Besides the iconic "I don't give a FUCK Keisha" line, people never talk about it.
