Aggressive, but sometimes too passive 🤣
Exactly still full of himself. When he talks about his losses it's always the "nerves" but when he talks about wins against others it's always how he outplayed them lol.
@@kaymadd He talks a lot about how Magnus outplays him. No idea what you're on about.
@@kaymadd 43:14 that’s you lol
Missing the nuance of commentary. Never change internet commentators.
Fabi is not just one of the greatest chess players off all time, he's also an incredibly interesting person with very interesting insight and questions for the guests. This podcast has been incredible so far, I really hope you guys continue these. Also Cristian and Fabi have very good synergy for this type of long form content. It's crazy to live in an era where we get to watch such high level game analysis and learn so much about the top players. Even just a few years ago you would really only get FIDE interviews during tournaments and that was it.
my two favorite chess players, really. big fan of ian, too, but as an american, it's awesome to have some strong players to look up to.
100% agreed. Hearing his take on different issues related to chess is what makes this podcast unique.
Eraserhead.

"Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm still right, we'll never know because that's a hypothetical" - Schrödinger's Nacatmura
80 minutes of fabi-naka interactions is a gift from god himself, and ome i never predicted would happen
@@betterthanyou3465 at the end they are both adults so yeah
@@betterthanyou3465 sorry, what's their past history?

Did Naka ever see Fabi eye to eye?
@@acpliego no Naka is a bit shorter
31:05 "Loosing an Endgame to Magnus or in opening prep to Fabiano" LMAO 😆
I think I speak for the entire chess community when I say that the C-Squared podcast was an instant classic
Yes, just needs to improve the thumbnails to make it more classic, clean. Thus, attracting more views
Chess community speaks for itself.
It's so cool to have players of Fabi and Christians skill level talking with people like Hikaru. Bonus that they are great interviewers and work so well together. Good stuff.
Naka: Gary was never wrong
Also Naka: I may be wrong but I'm also right
I can’t believe I regularly listen to a chess podcast now
Ikr!
It became a habit before sleeping, and I cant believe how fast nearly 90 minutes pass without feeling
True 😆 my chess skill is is like so bad i mostly only knows how pieces moves but still love watching these podcasts. Keep IT coming 😁
This was really great work guys. I must admit, Hikaru does seemed to have grown up over the last 5 years or so. I really enjoyed the self reflection he displayed at times in this podcast and his ability to see his old self in ways that maybe weren't so flattering.
That's something he's already shown on stream
one thing as well is hikaru has always been disgusted with cheating no matter how immature he used to be, he couldn't cheat even when chesscom asked him to try. as fabiano said, some ppl have the predisposition to cheat, and some cannot bring themselves to cheat.
It’s strange isn’t it. Fame normally turns streamers into entitled idiots. Somehow it’s had the opposite effect on Hikaru.
I don't think fame itself changed him, i believe it was public opinion striking him down on a few topics and him learning from that (like with the chessbae thing)
It seems that for him chess was a difficult start unlike some prodigies and that he had to surpass himself to progress, in addition to having competition within his family with his brother who occupied more chess attention than him, I understand better why he doesn't like to lose even years later and had to inflate his ego a little to hold on in these conditions and succeed in achieving his goals.
This is the best format for interviews. Love seeing the absolute top players of the world talk in so casual fashion and admiring good quantities of each other. I love Fabi's sincerity and gentle style of talking. He is one of the top 4-5 players in classical of our era but still is humble and quite intuitive about his questions. Also love that you guys are not rushing for achy headlines (I know this was recorded before Hans niemann controversy) but interested in the true life stories. So much better than general media interviews.
1:13:35 love how Naka gives credit to Fabi twice. Well deserved Fabi! Well deserved.
all 3 are not only great chessplayers, they are also very much used to talk in a mic. Very fluent and great to watch. Thank you.
lol
Excellent show. Fabi is very interesting and instructive, he really makes the show.
exactly
He is so smart we feel dumb
he barely talks lol
Indeed, the show would be better if Fabi responded more often to the interviewee's comments.
@@ethanehlers1946 It's new to him. He'll become more comfortable with the format before long.
This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen mainly because these two interviewers got Hikaru to relax and open up. The chemistry these 3 have is evident from their mutual sincerity and respect. More please!!!
It is funny that when we talk about the new generation nobody says anything about Firouzja, he has the same age as Arjun, Hans, Nihal and many others .. i guess the dude is so good that current super GMs have accepted him as a tribe member and not a newcomer anymore ..
Hans ?
@@krillin7876 They are the same age?
Is because firouzja is a litte rat. He classified to candidates only because he won in small tournaments where his friends/coachs where participating. So they allowed him to farming easy points.
This is why also fischer accused chess about prearrengment
I've never watched Fabi, but his demeanor is so welcoming. Great questions and he doesn't even seem to mind when hes cut-off. That makes me rage if I'm cut off. Mad respect to him.
Interesting to hear that Danny Rensch had that same talk with Hikaru that he did with Levy, and encouraged them both into streaming. I wonder how many others have Danny to thank for the push.
Hikaru was the big one, they have both talked about that many times, but that is an interesting question. There probably are others, whether they took him seriously or not.
who cares
he's like the godfather of online chess,
@@Matthew-bu7fg Mostly just people who are more curious than you about how chess viewing got popular with people who don't play.
Do you remember where Levy talks about Danny Rensch? Missed this
What I like about Hikaru Nakamura is he is a man that refuses to be intimidated. An exquisite chess virtue.
All episodes so far have been so good congrats guys!
Wonderful interview. Great to see how thoughtful Hikaru is in this format. And Fabi is just a great guy.
Fabiano is so classy and calm. Even when he gets stressed OTB you can't really tell. Hikaru is an open book but FC would make a very strong live poker player if he knew the theory and got some experience.
Very happy they kept "Lord" Hans and the chess drama out of this one. Great show
It was filmed two weeks ago... Before the drama was as big as it is now
The chess drama is over...Caruana played the Stafford!
Dude fabi is too good like how can be someone so good at something they're doing for the first time, like he's a top GM and a good podcaster wow
podcasting is like 95% just having a conversation with other people, which im guessing he's probably actually done for most of his life. obviously not everybody would be successful at it, but if you have a basic understanding of social cues (and obviously expertise on the topic youre discussing) it should come pretty naturally
kinda nice to see that hikaru and fabi are somewhat giving each other compliments throughout the video.
and tbh, i actually believe that this will be a good thing for everyone especially since after fabiano's commentary a few months ago.
Hikaru Fabi interactions are the best in Chess
I was laughing from the very start with that story of Kasparov being pissed, good stuff
Hikaru saying he was not a natural like his borhter is such a humanly refreshing thing to hear from him.
I never though i could listen/watch a yt podcast for 1h+ without quitting, this was awesome keep it up!
YESS NEW FABI CONTENT
Fabiano is prob has the best personality in the chess world. Super awsome guy, humble! Makes me want to be be his friend
Caruana is cool, but Anish Giri is even cooler. I'm a longtime Anand fan too. A great number of the elite seem like nice people.
Him and MVL
One of the things I appreciate as a trash player (1400) is listening to Super GMs all have a conversation. It’s nice to see that away from the board, they can actually get along and have a strong mutual respect for one another. Love this podcast. Look forward to many more 🤩🤓
What a pleasure having you all talking about chess. Good story Hikaru! Thanks for sharing
Another great interview video. I found it very interesting that Nakamura said that chess understanding didn't come easy for him, and that he thought that players for whom chess doesn't come easy have a better chance of getting really good at it, because they have to work harder at it, and are therefore able to work their way up from plateaus in a way that more naturally talented players aren't. Or something like that.
It is great to see hikaru like this. What a fantastic episode !!!
As usual, amazing content! I loved to hear about Hikaru's childhood and all this information that is usually not well known. The conversation in itself was very pleasant and fluid. Congratulations, Fabi and Cristian.
Fabi has come such a long way from his first time on the Chessbrah streams.
He seems to have figured out how to loosen up yet stay himself.
'I loved winning obviously' still seems understated :P Must have been sweet being smallville dominating ICC back then. Much winning , good fun.
I must say I've really enjoyed all of these. Great stuff Fabi and Christian!!
Fabiano and Christian, all the content of this channel is really amazing. I have binged watched all episodes in less than a week... Looking forward to head / watch more !
Loved this. Love how Hikaru always calls him "Fabiano" when everyone else uses the nickname "Fabi" lol
Everybody says Fabi, especially Hikaru
just finished watching the whole episode....i absolutely loved the interactions between fabi and hikaru...u guys are doing an absolutely great job and i really hope this podcast gets more subscribers....power to u guys
simply loving these podcasts. can't believe Fabi is actually taking his time out of busy chess schedule & stepping into streaming world.
p.s-Thy Majestic voice 🥰
This is fantastic. As a newer chess fan and player this is a great listen!
You guys are doing so great. Loved this episode. The channel is also growing so fast and may it continue to do so in the future.
Awesome podcast! Just a little note of feedback if you like: The closeup single shot cameras are really nice at times, but I found myself more often than not wanting to see the wide shot for reactions of the people not speaking to what is being said, especially when it's another super GM. Nevertheless, great interviewing and great topics.
You love to see it! Another episode, this time with Big Hicky himself
I really like Hikaru's take on how to conduct a world chess championship. Only classical with sudden death as tie break. Very smart
Some feedback: I'd love to see the podcast maintain a good balance between technical topics and casual chat. For example, I, a mediocre recreational chess fan, didn't know which exact lines of which games Hikaru was referring to, but I very much enjoyed his thoughts on streaming, Kasparov and psychological pressure. For others, it might be the other way round. So a good mix of that could be key. I, personally, will remain a very happy listener if you don't forget to occasionally add a few words of context when it gets very specific, so I can follow along. :)
God I fucking love Hikaru
Wow--this interview was superb!!! Did not expect this from Hikaru . Thank you Fabi and Cristian!
This pidcast is off to about as great a start as any other Ive seen. Keep it up! This is incredible for chess. I kinda figured given Caruana's status that this wouldn't be consistent, but it's only been a few weeks so far and it seems to be, for now
I hope this becomes Caruana's side pet project, something to be proud and care about beyond his insanely good cheese career
Great podcast guys, keep up the good work. Really enjoying it !
Great job guys. It was nice to see Hikaru and Fabi relaxed and chatting.
this was great. thank you for conducting the interview
I'm surprised how little Fabi added about his experiences in the candidates, the world championship, and against Magnus, specifically.
I guess Hikaru didn't really throw the ball back in his court, but if I was sitting there it would've been hard not to participate or add to Hikaru's sentiments and ideas given all the person experience I had in similar situations.
Impressive restraint and deference to the interviewee from his as host
Same, I was definitely expecting more input from Fabiano in those moments. Hikaru even paused to see if he would have something to add a couple times, but I guess not.
He's humble, unlike most
what a great podcast! Loved the conversation
Yes I was very excitedly looking forward to this episode in particular.
Loved this podcast! Glad that various topics were covered!
I would like to add to the last comment in that Fabiano's commentary on the world chess championship was absolutely superb. He absolutely brought it to life with his insight and he made it an unforgettable viewing experience. His calmness and knowledge and explanation of positions was mind blowing. Thanks so much.
This flew by. Great convo. Keep up the good work!
Epic podcast all around. Epic guest, epic Fabi hair.
This is so so good. Arguably the best chess podcast at the moment. Great work, Fabi and Cristian
Brilliant content. I really enjoyed this, I've never seen Hikaru put himself across so well
This podcast is so great guys, congrats
Amazing podcast ! Thanks for this !
I really enjoy these podcasts. Thanks guys!!
Thoroughly enjoyed that ! Great stuff, keep it up
Glad you are getting views guys! Congrats on getting 100.000+ views and good luck!❤
Amazing that all three of these GMs have played with the group at CoffeeChess. For the fun of it.
You should go ahead and put four digits in the episode number because this podcast is going places
Love the podcast, keep the episodes coming.
Thank you for this longform discussion with Hikaru. Fascinating insights.
Another amazing podcast! Thank you guys!
Great interview. Keep up this great work. Wish you all the best and hope your channel stays for a long time.
Hello Fabiano and Christian,
This is an outstanding channel and brilliant podcast. Fabiano is not only an all-time great chess player but also one of the most articulate people in the scene. Good Luck with this venture. Hope you have a lot of success.
🔥🔥🔥 episode!! Love the podcast!! Keep it up guys 👏🏼
I like Hikaru when he's not on stream. He feels a lot more genuine.
I agree he is speaking way too much loud and annoying in his streamings.
How i was unaware of this podcast?! Great job guys. Subbed the moment i saw Fabi and Naka in a thumbnail anyways.
I have watched every podcast so far, but wow this was great. Absolutely amazing. Great job guys and great decision to ask Hikaru to do this. Would love to see Fabi or Cristian on the Hikaru channel to cover an event some day. Could be a great way to promote the channel. Having Fabi and Cristian cover a Hikaru event where Fabi isn't playing would be absolutely epic, I think twitch would explode if that happened.
I’m really loving this podcast of late. You both are gonna be much much bigger.
Wow, crazy seeing Hikaru outside his stream. Like he's actually a real human.
Great interview, enjoyed it immensely!
Absolute top podcast by Christian and Fabi!
Really enjoying the show. Keep up the good work.
I love this podcast. Great interview. More please.
Shout out to Vishy. When you hear his peers talk about him, always good things! He is a gentleman. 11:30
Fantastic interview, great content! Keep up the good work.
Love him or hate him, HIkaru is a brilliant speaker and interviewee. Great episode!
This podcast is gold for the history. Imagine having a recorded conversation with Capablanca.
Better late than never! I'm really looking forward to listening, keep it up :D
This show is here and i am HERE FOR IT
Love the pod boys!
What Hikaru describes at @8:24 is also why many gifted kids get bodied by university. She have poor study habits because they breezed through high school then get to university and hit a wall, as he said.
I’m enjoying! Thank you!
I have to wake up 5:00 am for work, me at 1:00 am: Oh Fabi with Hikaru!
This channel is the best that happened to chess lately
Love the podcast!
Great interview! Keep the good work up!
Great interview!!
Good interview with great interaction of the greatest streamer and the greatest podcasters! Keep it up✌️! And thanks for sharing great chess insight every episode. 👍
