Photography as a university main subject? Isn't that an overkill? In some countries, it's an apprenticeship. Curious to understand the point of university here.

I do believe he will not be the last driver to crash this weekend, it seems anytime a track gets repaved the first season on the new surface tends to be wild one
Thanks for this update Kym. I enjoy your unique combination of F1 and photography (my real passion). Also appreciate the personal side of the F1 circus that most people don't have access to.
Kimi just announced to the F1 world that he is a driver who is fearless and is going to go for it. Remind us of another super young driver in 2015?? Max perhaps?
Poor kid. You could tell he was so nervous just watching his onboard. And then they spent like 3 minutes straight building him up and literally in the middle of it he went into the wall. Toto did exactly what you’d expect Toto to do and reassured him and that was so cool to see.
Good on the young man. He steps into the car and immediately has the confidence to go 2 tenths up on Lewis and go purple in sector 2 before losing grip at the Parabolica. When asked about the crash, his team principal said “We would rather have a problem in slowing him down than making him faster,” said Wolff. “What we have seen in one and a half laps is just astonishing.” - source: Autosport
@@mendelganz it does if the speed you traverse Lesmo 1 & 2 and the Ascari chicane is 8-10kph faster than Hamilton or Verstappen. (Source: Autosport article on the crash and why it happened) In short, for him to have that level of confidence knowing the pressure he’s under is IMO very impressive.
That's impressive fitness to run around the circuit to get closer pics of the crashed car and driver. Especially from where you captured the car losing it at parabolica. That is a lot of circuit to cover one shot and then get to the other.
Love your videos and attention to detail Kym. That lady's outfit was indeed fetching 😊 Where are the young girls who say stay passionate at the end of your videos? 😂
Because Kimi needs F1 experience if he is going to be their 2nd driver next year. But I agree it's cruel to Mick. Toto though did a very kind thing by keeping Mick in F1.
I've been wondering why as well! Mick has been screwed over by Haas, Ferrari Academic, and AGAIN by Toto ! I hope that Mick can (somehow) get a FIA WEC or Audi F1 seat. And getting a big fat bag of Euros! 🏎️🏁🏆🍾😎
I like this you tube channel. I was supposed to be there, but returned from UKF1 and flying back to EU is just not for me. 😂 see you in Singapore only 6hour flight that should be ok. 👍😀 I like the comments and also the pictures. Truly well done. You should also have more snaps of pit babes 👍😂
People said Max was too young when he started in F1 and crashed regularly in the very early days, including Mr. J. Herbert esq. Kimi Antonelli isn’t too young. Is he another Max or Lewis ? Only time will tell but I wish him all the best. Great shots Mr. Illman !
If you keep getting all the scoops, the drivers will start to think you're a bad omen. I doubt Kimi wants copies of your photos to remind him of this crash! 😂 Hopefully he has lots of years of driving ahead of him to not crash.
I don’t think Antonelli’s crash is anywhere near as significant as the pace he showed as soon as he jumped in the car - especially when you consider how many other drivers got caught out at that corner! I have to admit, when I first heard that Mercedes might put this kid that they had just rushed into F2 in their car next year, I started to wonder if Lewis’s signing for Ferrari might have affected Toto‘s sanity, but it doesn’t look like such a crazy idea anymore. And I do find it amusing that some people suggest he’s too young when he’s older now than Max was in his first F1 race!
In car camera during his approach to the Parabolica reveals, Kimi abruptly downshifted too many gears, too late which totally unsettled the car.........a rookie mistake.
I think he just stayed in his seat. No immediate danger, I would think. If it had been danger, they would have told him on the radio to extract himself.
That is why you don't over hype a rookie it is too much pressure for them, it's there first time on the car and to have so many expectations it is too much. They are rookies and that is understandable but just rookies period, every rookie has potential.
I remember a certain mika hakkinen when he was young. He out qualified senna the very first time they went head to head so the speed was there without question but he also was somewhat of an expert in crashing. I see the same speed and spark which i saw in mika. It depends if he can handle the pressure. if he can i have no doubt he will be champion 1 day.
Sometimes this happens when one is trying hard. Nothing wrong with crashing as long as one learns. The teams expect this. A champion in making? Time will tell. Results are what the teams look at.
No BS, your updates are great, no speculation, just news and info. Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Sounds pretty good to me, Kym. As always, thanks for sharing 🌞
Great video. and the shots are amazing.
I'm sure "disappointing" would be a better word than "tragic"... He's all well and good.

Normally the braking point is 80m-110m

But he's a clever lad.. should bounce back.
Yup...when they crash...they learn.
Too young or too old, it is a matter of talent and the ability to drive the car to the expectations of the team management.
There is only one Kimi!
Great coverage, Kym. I'd suggest that use of the word 'TRAGIC' may be click-bait-ish...
Especially after Johnny Gaudreau was killed in an actual tragic crash last night.
Especially when Kym himself says it was not much of a big deal. Gotta play the RUclips game I guess.
Tragic should really only be used for something fatal, title is a bit click bait

1 minute to extract? What about the 7 seconds extraction time requirement?
I think he just stayed in his seat. No immediate danger, I would think. If it had been danger, they would have told him on the radio to extract himself.
That's a test to make sure they can get out quickly if they have to. Not a rule that they have to jump out in 7 seconds every time.
The reason that has been given about the safety car is BS. You are going to see lots more "action" on that stretch of track over the weekend.
The crash was unfortunate but Kimi will be fine. He seems to be a pretty talented driver and he will do well, I think.

Heat induced brake fail sounds fishy considering that Aston has carbon ceramic rotors. Likely there's a problem with newly surfaced Parabolica.
