    Would you be interested in a separate video of just the final demo for listening purposes?

    Bought the S-1 on impulse yesterday and I already learned so much about this little unit just from following your steps to recreate this patch...
    A hands on tutorial like yours works 1000x better than someone just scrolling through the menus explaining all functions...

      Glad to hear it! I'll be releasing another tutorial this week on a Radiohead inspired patch

    Reminded me just how good Polynominal C is. Nice video. Great little pocket synth too.

      Thanks so much for watching! Polynomial C was the first Aphex Twin song I listened to. Had me hooked since then

    This is awesome. Do you have any tips for how you deconstructed the song to replay it on the S1. I'm still learning all this, and your video gives some hope to learning more.

      Thanks for watching! I watched many many piano and synthesizer covers of this song to get the pattern & it's debatable whether or not it's "right". I only starting making music as an adult, so I've had to learn a lot & one thing that really helped me was ignoring actual notes and approaching it from do notes (or chords) go up, down, or stay the same. This is somewhat elementary but listening to a song and let's say it's melody goes: A3 C2 A3 G2 G2 but I don't know the actual notes -- I think :
      down -> up -> down->same
      and then I go back through and say okay by how much? And it's only best guesses, but the more I learn about music the more I realize that similar enough, is usually good enough. More importantly, this has you focused on the feel of the song instead of worrying about replicating it exactly. This is why I note in my description that I'm not trying to make a Polynomial-C replica, but something that I feel is similar enough to give off similar feelings. This is also why I include the non-standard tuning & key tranpose in my tutorial. It's probably not the exact method, but it's what felt right to me.
      Best of luck!

      @@markyounq elementary but its the proper way to do things using your ear, extremely helpful, its more important to hear the intervals/distances between notes rather than knowing the exact note it is

    Hi! Great video! I've tried to replicate this and it's all sounding the same right up the reverb part - once I enable that it all seems to crash together and the reverb totally dominates the sound in a bad way - massively saturates the volume too. Any ideas what could be wrong? EDIT: It's my audio interface being super weird! All fixed now.

    Hi, I know it might sound stupid, but how did you connect the S1 to the audio interface?

    • @markyounq
      @markyounq  2 месяца назад

      Not a stupid question! In this instance, I'm just running my S-1 into my Zoom F1 and recording straight there. If I wanted to use the Zoom as an audio interface, I would just plug it into my computer using a MicroUSB cable and then you can stream audio from S-1 -> Zoom -> PC

    thats sounds pretty fat im tempted by the S1 now

      It's a very neat little piece of gear! Battery operated and easy to use makes this a perfect take to the park mess around synth.
