i like the fact that you have named most of your animals. It shows that you can treat them individually for their needs and that your have spent enough time with them that you care about them and have built up a trust in them for you. As for the elderly chickens, they too serve a need after they have laid their last egg. The old hens also protect the flock by observing the skies and boundaries in search of predators and warn the others using a hen call like the rooster does. This skill is sometimes invaluable if the rooster in their flock is prematurely absent. They also serve to teach the youngsters by their example so that they can make wise decisions in their inexperienced lives. Very nice video Chad. Thankyou for sharing with us. What a way to start the day! 😊 I hear some French in your accent. First I thought Ukrainian...now I hear the French?
I studied French in high school all the way to grade 13, but when I met my wife and started learning Tagalog the French kind of tailed off. But I’m not French, I grew up in Toronto with English Canadian parents and grandparents and our family history is British and Irish.
@HiddenSpringFarm I see. 🙂. I'm not too far off. From Edmonton, extended family included. We are British/German/American. North America exists because of the need to find work. Lots of us have similar beginnings all the way around Canada, it seems. Back in the late 80s, Alberta saw a lot of Newfies come for work. They were fished out of their own ocean. I've never been to Toronto. Biggest places I have been is Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver! 😊
Chad, I actually looked up "octogonal" on Google and you're right to say octagonal. I was so sure I was right, and M Google tought me that "octogonaĺ is the French. I was so sure it was the same.

Ive seen it over and over . Some of are best farm land made into subdivision. Iit made me hurt inside when I was a kid . We do need to know , but .... Thankyou take care .
@HiddenSpringFarm yes sir it did. I actually found it a bit later online as well. I've always wanted to own some land amd have recently been looking at some opportunities. I have no idea how much is too little or too much on land size though. I was trying to talk my wife into coming up in November or December to stay at the farm house, we're cat fanatics and love watching the farm cats roam around.
let the animals grow older and enjoy their lives. by you filming them, you are making money. if you wouldn't have any animals in your farm, most likely you would not have that many viewers. I enjoy them
Get a couple of ferrets the rats won't come anywhere near them. Rats would rather run toward cats or dogs and get ripped apart than get caught by ferrets.
Is a ferret a type of weasel? Will they not want to I kill chickens? Do they need some kind of training or it’s just natural for them? I always wanted a pet ferret when I was a kid.
@@HiddenSpringFarm To be fair I think they would I know they use them for catching rabbits over here (UK) maybe not the best idea and you don't want to just let them run free. Yes you can train them but it's mainly instinct.
Having earlier FARM experiences from 70’s… there was way less concerns for cats or dogs on a farm. Very Few as pets! You spoil your too many pets in comparison
I like the pot pies but crock pot stew is so nice with some bread. Our Rhode Island’s are 3 years old now but still laying well. Gotta think about succession planning cause they’ll drop production starting next year.

The same urban sprawl is happening here. Two reasons…farm land is very valuable so old farmers are cashing in. Plus farmers kids don’t wanna be farmers so what are they to do as they get older, so they downsize and sell. Sad really, that’s why especially here in Canada most of our food comes from elsewhere like US or Mexico.

Chad, I actually looked up "octogonal" on Google and you're right to say octagonal. I was so sure I was right, and M Google tought me that "octogonaĺ is the French. I was so sure it was the same.
Hello bro did you remember me love your work
😆
Hello! Curious as to what you and your wife’s primary jobs are? Finding the hours in the day to do everything must be a struggle. 😮
Dear Chad ,
I agree we should know how to grow are food . But things are getting strange in citys . I live in a apartment and the city dosent want apartment dwellers to have gardens !? .
I live in the states . I grew up by farms and ranches . Do you think it was encouraged to do agriculture . Also all those farms and ranches was sold off and swallowed up into suberbia . Ive seen it over and over . Some of are best farm land made into subdivision.
Iit made me hurt inside when I was a kid .
We do need to know , but ....
Thankyou take care .
Where do I view the vacation rental?
We have a link on the main channel page but I’ll add a link here, hopefully it’ll work. www.airbnb.com/slink/awQi8oC1
Where’s Molly?

let the animals grow older and enjoy their lives. by you filming them, you are making money. if you wouldn't have any animals in your farm, most likely you would not have that many viewers. I enjoy them
Sadly some of those older poultry will have to turn into dog food or people food.
Yes, can’t really keep such a high quantity of birds if they don’t produce.
😁
Mabuhay
Having earlier FARM experiences from 70’s… there was way less concerns for cats or dogs on a farm. Very Few as pets! You spoil your too many pets in comparison
Haha yeah probably, but I don’t mind 😁
Yes, it’s rue kids don’t have a clue about farming
I thought you had two dogs?

Why not, just let them retire for there reward
Yes most likely some of them will just live out their days on the farm.
Make that money on the farm. You eat what you grow. Put those old hens in a crock pot. mmmmmmm
I like the pot pies but crock pot stew is so nice with some bread. Our Rhode Island’s are 3 years old now but still laying well. Gotta think about succession planning cause they’ll drop production starting next year.
Quacked
🤣

The same urban sprawl is happening here. Two reasons…farm land is very valuable so old farmers are cashing in. Plus farmers kids don’t wanna be farmers so what are they to do as they get older, so they downsize and sell. Sad really, that’s why especially here in Canada most of our food comes from elsewhere like US or Mexico.
