I bought a Goldwing in 2022 New and rode it 8000 miles and for 9 months. Loved every moment of it. Then I thought I wanted an Indian. So I traded it in for A 2023 Cheiftain Darkhorse. I love the Darkhorse, Its a fantastic Motorcycle in every way however I've missed that Goldwing like no other bike I've ever had. Three days ago I bought a new Goldwing. I'd love to own them both but I can't so it's gonna be a Goldwing for the rest of my riding life. I was without My 2022 DCT Tour for less than a year. I Guess I'm a wingnut.

You did nothing wrong, it's okay to try different things. In the end it just made you appreciate the GW all the more. I truly believe for distance cruising the GW is the best bike especially if pulling a trailer. That being said it is due for a redesign and I'm probably going to buy a cruiser while waiting for the GW redesign...we will see. Enjoy your GW and ride safe.

Sold my Road Glide Limited and got the goldwing. a week later - this I've seen happens a lot lol. No doubt the best bike I've ever owned, super comfortable, fun to ride and I LOVE that DCT. Yep….. I get that. Long time Harley guy here. I own a near classic Electra Glide and am in the process of rebuilding a 2004 Road King. I have ALWAYS been an admirer of the Honda GoldWing, and for years I lurked on the owner forums just to get a sense of what the experience was like. Well two+ years ago I bought my first Wing. I did not buy a new one but picked up an 08 GL-1800 that only had 23k miles which is barely broken in for a GoldWing. I absolutely love this bike and have since added another 15k miles to the odometer. Several weeks ago I went with a friend and his wife on a day ride. We ended up riding 670 miles that day. He was on a Road Glide, I had my GL. They were worn out, I felt great and could easily have ridden an Iron Butt that day. Just saying…..

If you try to compare that Wing with the CVO start with the price and then step off into reliability and onto performance. I know my sons Road Glides cannot stay with my in the mountains of Tn and NC but they had to have the RG because all the guys in their club had them. Crazy idea for having a bike. I can’t say enough about my 22 DCT Tour Airbag. It’s my 3rd Wing since 84. It’s perfect for me. This Japanese company build performance. The DCT has been a game changer. Honda consistently builds Podium winning MotoGP and Motocross bikes and this short or long distance touring bike is on another level. Don’t forget their Accords and Civics. These cars get passed down to generations. Honda just build good stuff. BTW. The front and rear brakes are linked braking. Gold Wings have been this way for some time. Harley builds a motorcycle experience. Honda build a better motorcycle. You decide. A Pan Am? 😂 This bike is a Lexus. In any event. Any day in two wheels is great day. You do you.

I picked up a new generation Wing DCT Tour after going back to an F6B again. I loved the F6B and it got me hooked on the flat 6 motor. Had ridden HDs and enjoyed those, but moving to the Wing was a game changer for me. I love the lower center of gravity for handling and the smooth power is amazing. I really like the upright riding position too. I'm not a big guy and found the F6B pretty big. That's where the new version really scored the win for me. Being a little more trimmed, it fits me perfectly. I probably would not go back to a clutch either. The ease of riding the DCT is incredible. I've owned a previous generation of the GL1800 and now a current generation. Yes fuel capacity is approximately 1 gallon less but the new GL1800 motor is much more efficient and easily gets 52 mpg whereas the older GL1800 was generally 38-42 mpg. That's your extra gallon right there. The DCT tour model that I own has 7 speeds which helps with that efficiency. Oh, almost forgot 87 octane is recommended. Another savings albeit small.
No getting around the smaller cargo capacity however. In my opinion not a deal breaker because of all the other fantastic features the bike has baked in. An abundant Honda global network combined with a super reliable bike that continues to go and go and go....

@@maraudermitchelli hi there! I looked for about a year to testride the new goldwing bagger. But Honda doesn’t seem to have a lot of testbikes in Belgium, so it took a long time to finally get my hands on one. I drove sportsbikes like the Zx6r and Zx10r, but then you get older. Drove an RT1150 for a while, very good bike as well. As long as it is properly maintained and preferably a 2004 model (better abs). I love a boxer touringbike, it does everything you want it to, and the seating position is comfortable. Now, the Goldwing is another league. In Belgium a top spec RT is about €30k+, while the Goldwing bagger DCT is comparably equipped for €29k. I fell in love instantly when I took off. The looks are intimidating in terms of size, but the boxer 6 sits so low that it is easier to manoeuvre than for example an inline 4 touring bike like the FJR for example. The DCT is a no brainer for all types of riding and traffic, so intuitive… Easy to maintain in terms of cost because it is a flat six. Perfect for commuting and road trips. Sorry, my English isn’t perfect 😉 And oh yes, it goes if you want it to. Torque for days.. Have a nice day!

I've had 3 CVO's (Road and Street Glides) and and Indian Cheiftian Elite and those were all great bikes but they don't hold a candle to my 22 DCT Tour!! This bike is a few refinements and creature comforts away from being the perfect bike..an improved GPS, slightly bigger side bags and gas tank, adaptive cruise and a heads up display and this is my last motorcycle!!

Agree your comments, although 4 hrs in the saddle reveals the 2009 model has a superior seat. It has taken me nearly 5,000 miles to fully appreciate and be comfortable with all the DCT modes. I bought my 2022 Goldwing last September and just sold it to buy an Indian chieftain DarkHorse. There's nothing wrong with the Goldwing it is a fantastic machine. I put 8500 miles on it in those 10 months and it was off the road for winter here in New England. It does everything so well but I wanted a different experience and my new Darkhorse Chieftain gives me that. If you have bad knees it will hurt them eventually cause it keeps your legs bent. It hurt my wifes knees and she's 47 and active. The weigh distribution is low and its easy to manage. One day i will buy another except this time it will be a manual if they still make them by then. I missed the clutch and the control it gives you at low speeds. Great bike you will not be sorry if you buy one.

The closest spec HD would cost 10s of thousands more, they have virtually no weather protection, have a 32 degree lean angle compared to the GWs 40 degree, Honda is the only manufacturer with an airbag option (proven to save lives in front impact accidents) HDs do not have a reverse gear (try pushing that thing back up an incline in a gravel parking lot) etc etc etc. HDs have a great culture, good dealer network and make a good looking bike but it's comparing Chuck Steak to a Filet IMHO.

My main complaint with the new Wing is that they really seem to focus it on the solo tourer rather than touring couples. The luggage capacity was ridiculous on the 2018 my wife and I test rode. This has been partially corrected with the larger trunk on the more recent years, but you still have to go to Corbin to fix the side case capacity. And 5.5 gallons is too small for a 1800cc bike. My 1200cc BMW has 6.2 gallons on the 1600 BMWs have 7 gallons which is much nicer for those of us who ride long distances in remote places (Alaska, Newfoundland, etc,). If Honda corrects the case capacity, I will probably trade my BMW for a Wing, but it sure would be nice also to have at least 6.5 gallons of fuel onboard.

IMHO my four Goldwing's all held their value in stellar fashion. I currently own the same bike you rode in this video and I love it, the best bike I have ever owned.
Riders tend to overlook the safety of a DCT as it allows your focus on all riding parameters and frees your concentration to become intimately aware. Also, at any moment you can use the 'paddle/lever' shifters to your hearts content; I use mine regularly.
The electronics are often given negative feedback but it's likely being unfamiliar with the built-in navigation. The more I used mine the easier it became; there is always a learning curve. Anyone wishing to use up to date electronics on this bike; it is at your fingertips, installed and paid! It's called 'Apple CarPlay.' It does require a headset/helmet type interface but now you can 'tell' the bike what you want and it will comply!

With this kind of scooter it stays a scooter, not classified as a bike. The whole intention as I see from the designer perspective is that it has it''s rightful place with added luxury. In this light it should be rightfully viewed, therefor it is for the buyer to deside what he wants concerning luxury or speed. Leaving the motorcycle at home. I went to Madeira Portugal and hired a Honda ADV 750 DCT something you in the State can’t import from Honda. It’s a step through also an automatic 6 speed box with manual override great on steep hills of I toured the Island. I wanted style so I waited for the Forza 750dct a step through. Top box and panniers it may look like a scooter step through OK it does say Scooter on the tyres 17inc front 15 inch rear. I absolutely love it. Still heavy and more with luggage. I did Essex France Madrid Spain Gibraltar Madrid Santander Portsmouth then Home 2400miles in ten days.

In this video the DCT transmission was silky smooth...really incredible. The transmission in my Talon is amazing so much so i will never own another sport SXS that doesn't have gears. As I said in the GTL video there is not a better made long distance touring bike. Changed my seat to a Corbin[heated] and you could literally ride this bike 800 miles a day for days in a row. You buy a Harley CVO to say look at what I got. I know I have had 4 of them. Harley can’t come close to comfort and performance on the interstate of this bike. You don’t buy this bike to ride around town though you can do it no problem. Only 2 bikes have ever passed me in the mountains that’s a BMW and Goldwing. It is fabulous in the mountains if you know how to ride a big bike. These bikes are not good at slow speed maneuvers in the DCT format with no clutch. There are many thousands of people that have switched from Harley to these bikes for comfort and tired of the noise. Sport mode does not work riding like you are, need to be on open roads or interstate. You are riding the exact 2023 bike I bought and it is a joy to ride. The performance is not anywhere near the GTL in Dynamic mode but this bike is less likely to kill you like the BMW. Comparing the Pan American with this bike is comical. I do agree I would buy a GS or Ducati long before a Pan America though Harley did a good job on there first attempt at off road dualsport bike. At you level do not try slow speed maneuvers on this bike you will drop it!! Agree use the Harley with clutch and friction zone. This bike has NO comparison except the BMW. You will love the low center of gravity. The RG CVO new one can’t compare as I road one the other day. Do not compare the Pan America with this bike completely two different bikes for 2 different reasons. No way would I buy. Pan America as a travel bike. I’d take my GS 1250 every day over the Harley. I put the Traxxion Dynamics front and back suspension on this thing and the suspension now is equal or better then the GTL. Many better windshields than this. As a suggestion try to do some research on the bikes you review instead of Awesome or Oh My God, it will definitely increase you viewership. People will appreciate the fact that you know something about the bike before you ride it. Just constructive criticism. If you want to really know something about the Goldwing or GTL message me. You will like the Ducati except the outrageous maintenance costs at 10,000 miles

Harley Davidsons hold their value. Provided you can find someone to buy it at whatever price your asking. Trade-in is a little easier, but you're still battling with the sales manager to get that optimal trade value and you're coming out with a bike you'll still have to sell some day. Which leads me to, sellers are competing with MANY other sellers and buyers usually don't have that kind of money just sitting around. So you end up in a race to the bottom, and don't even get me started on the bath you take from all the add on parts. Lesson is, forget "hold their value" BS. Buy what you want to ride and leave tomorrow to tomorrow. Source: me from buying and selling too many HD bikes. Happy I did it! I like HD bikes! But it is not a panacea of financial safety either.

I am ok with riding whatever blows your skirt up. But it really bugs me when the first thing out of the commenters mouth is they sold there terrible Harley after they test rode the Honda. I have owned 20 motorcycles as an adult. Mostly Harleys from Shovals through evolutions, twin cams and M8. I have also owned a couple BMW’s both 1200twins and 1600 Grand America. I test rode the new Gold Wing before I bought the BMW R1200RT. They are all nice machines! I personally like the thump of a twin cylinder motor. The BMW R1200 RT was the best handling bike I ever rode. Nice torquey twin but…..I could not get comfortable. I mean this was a really fun and cool machine but…. The BMW K1600 had endless power (160hp) but…. Feet back knees forward. The Gold Wing is similar with the opposing cylinders, feet back knees forward. The Wing is a super nice refined touring bike but not for me. Not enough space in the luggage or leg room in the seat. For me and I really mean for me Harley Touring bikes are it. My current touring rig is a 2019 CVO Ultra. Lots of luggage space, thumping twin and comfortable as heck. It’s a little hot sometimes but it is a motorcycle. Hell I wish it would leak a little oil. The point of this rant is ride what you like and stop talking smack on the other options. If a Honda gives you wood then ride a Honda……

The lack of engineering in terms of balance is a shame on certain bikes which don't have it. There is no excuse. A balanced bike is a Disneyland ride, feeling like you are on a rail, so easy and confident to ride. I have only one bike that is unbalanced abut you adjust to it. The others, just ride with so much fun you almost get too relaxed because of the balance capabilities.

Well said Eric and I agree. Nothing beats a low CG bike, Honda GW and BMW G 1250 and K 1600 have done this well. There's only so much you can do with HD cruisers...that's at totally different experience. Thank you for a great comment be safe.
