Thanks brother for your video. I did the same thing on my VRod, on the rear brake. Now I have the front lever of my Ultra locked, I think I'm going to do the same thing and your video was very enlightening for me. I have a 2012 Ultra and a 2012 VRod. Big hug and good roads!
Hello Brother. I was going to do as you did but I sent my bike for inspection and asked them to pay special attention to the ABS. They washed the entire system with degreaser and isopropyl alcohol and everything started working normally again. I also have a Vrod and I did the bypass, on the rear brake, and it turned out really well. I have problems with the front brake on the Vrod and I will put the bike in for review soon and ask them to do what they did on the Ultra, if everything goes well it will be great but if it doesn't work I will do as you did, I will also put the bypass on the front brake. Life goes on ! Big hug and thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks man! This works great and is the cleanest / cheapest fix I've seen yet. No stealership needed. Harley should have re-called this issue decades ago but chose to hang their customers with the cost. NOT A GOOD LOOK HARLEY!
Thanks, found them on amazon. My bike has been sitting for a year now.... I even took the module apart to see if I could clean it. Really should be a recall on this with a redesigned part. Pretty dangerous.
I hate the problematic rsds system on my trike, no more nanyware! So I decomputerized my trike , carbed it and installed a stand alone ignition system. Plus installed a road glide faring
Just picked up the parts for a buddy’s 2012 ultra classic. Thank you for the vid. Ever thought of just plugging the holes on the abs valve and keeping it in place so your light doesn’t stay on?
@@chickchickboom324 so I connected the lines and just stuck some pieces of shop towels in the open holes. So far great brakes and no abs light. My buddy’s very happy about it. We may get around to proper plugs, but so far, the paper plugs are working just fine. 👍 It does take a bit of work to get the lines positioned with the abs block still taking up all that space.
@@All_Knight I did not. The guy has been riding it constantly since the fix with just the open holes. So far no ill effects or leakage from leaving the holes open. Had it been my bike I would have grabbed a cap plug assortment from Amazon at least.
Gonna do this soon , but in the mean time , my rear was locked up , and I turned ignition on to cycle abs valves , then tapped the front of the hcu until the rear valve freed up , and simply pulled the abs fuse
I read your comment and leave a comment. The front brake of my bike is locked. By the way, how can I drive? Of course the back brakes are normal. Thank You, and help me!
@@ygim1396 turn the ignition on to power up the abs and then get a hammer and tap the rear of the abs unit a few times , try the brakes and if they are still locked , try again until the lever frees up , then pull the abs fuse , you will have the front brake back and the abs light will stay on ..
Very interesting video, I want to make this change too. My question is what happens to the electrical system? does the ABS warning light stay on? does the control unit have problems in the future? or do I just know how to change the oil pipes?
Someone else In this comment section actually did what I did far as bypassing the system but left the block in place and left the abs plug connected and that keeps the light off. Otherwise yes you will have a light
And BTW , just called a dealer and the HCU is $735.00 , they fail for two reasons , one not getting the unit cycled and flushed and the other is they fail even with regular maintenance , and if you do your own maintenance you can get an app or tablet for less than $200 and do it yourself instead of paying the dealers
My problem is just the opposite, front brake has no pressure, it squeezes right to the handlebar grip first squeeze. No air in the system, bled correctlly. One pump and it's good. Is this a ABS issue?
Very likely. You could test that theory by testing pressure right at the master cylinder. Remove the line and put your finger over the whole and see if it builds pressure first squeeze.
@@chickchickboom324 thanks brother I have a 22 road glide with abs and I need to delete asap. I was thinking just to add brand new lines going directly from master to the caliper on the front and back and remove abs module but this seems a lot simpler…. Thank you
Why in the HELL is this part so expensive in the first place, resulting in having to bypass it? It seems like a pretty simple fluid exchanger type of box. What is so special that justifies the cost? Just so they can gouge people with the repair cost?

When you did this fix did you have to get a different type banjo bolt

After bypass, plug abs module back in and leave it on the bike. abs light turns off

Wondering did you use the same banjo bolts?
I did yes
Should be a recall. That's a serious safety issue.
How did you get the abs light to go off? I bypassed mine and the light stays on all the time no blinking, even after pulling the fuse.
I let the light stay on otherwise you can leave that module back there and just plug in the connector and that should shut off the light
Thank you, So simple. Is everything still working okay?
100%

Great video I’m having the same problem, did you have to do anything to the computer or lights flashing on dash after getting rid of abs?
I left the light on but I guess you can just plug the connector back on the box I hear that works
I just did the same as you last night everything is working great, cost $25 dollars to fix instead of $900.
Don't usually comment on videos, but thank you very much :)
Glad I could help
Can we just undo all abs????
You can bypass it if that’s what you’re asking
Riding and wrenching since the late 1970s without ABS and don't need or want it. As more HDs age getting rid of the extra junk will be the wise move.
